Can someone explain how Shadowshot is balanced for PVP?
I'm still kind of new at this game and I'm still trying to wrap my head around this super. Before I go on, yes I know I have barely upgraded my Hunter so I don't have hands-on experience. In my opinion the class was made for competitive play. From what I hear the supers are virtually useless in PVE, except for shadowshot. Hunters have 3 offensive supers while the other two classes have one defensive super each. And I will try to do this without sounding like a whiney little bitch, but if I do, sorry.
So this super "Shadowshot", to me has a good amount of offensive benefits.
-It's a one-shot kill
-It can be fired more than once
-Even if you miss there's a tether
-The tether makes players aim at the ground upon contact
-While the opponent is held by the tether, all shots get precision damage.
-The tether sticks around even after you have killed the one who shot it.
-The tether is a bullet ho
-The super also acts as a suppressor.
Now to be fair I will point out weaknesses that I've personally seen in PVP
-The jump and shoot animation takes a long enough time to be shot a good bit. (This can be correlated with why the tether is still around after death)
- The hang time from the jump leaves you very open
-And that's about all I can think of, only because I have not played as a Hunter enough.
Again I'm not trying to whine due to being "rekt". This isn't b8. Please explain (preferably with class but with the Internet you never know). If you're going to say something like "You can't be serious" then explain why I can't be serious.
TL;DR: Please explain why the Shadowshot it balanced?

Ok, after reading these responses I think I'm convinced. The Shadowshot certainly has its negatives. Again, thanks to those who answered with class and without attempts to insult the OP.
Some of you need to take a chill pill. It's like a good percentage of this community Hulks out on anyone with an unfavorable opinion or a simple question. I literally asked a question after delivering what I gathered on the topic. I don't think my post warranted some of these responses. But then again this is the internet and for some reason people like to take their frustrations out on forums, social media, etc. I'll just take it with a grain of salt (cause God knows there is plenty of that in here) and be on my way.
Well I'm done posting in here. If anyone wants to continue to deb8, h8, or elabor8 go ahead.

5 RepliesShoot one guy, tether two right next to him, they gun you down before you hit the ground. If it was Fist of Havoc or Nova Bomb they would all be dead instantly and you'd still be alive. Honestly shadow shot was a lot better when Taken King first came out and people didn't know what to do when they got tethered, but now they just immediately turn and shoot you. Nightstalker is good in PVP because of smokes and shadestep mainly, which are amazeballs. Tether is best used to control space in team based PVP modes, not for kills.

3 RepliesBeacuse its a worse golden gun. You have 3 shots yoy basicly have to fire in rapid succesion. If you run quiver the silence has like no range and have you tried using it? Its really hard to aim. I have also notice you get like no armor when firing it. Place it has an arc on it making it even harder to land.

I use the single shot tether that lasts longer for crowd control. no point in using it for a direct hit offensive in PVE. it is a support/defensive super.

I don't play a hunter but I don't mind shadowshot at all. The only thing I would change is that if the user dies I think the tethers should disappear (like the Titan bubble). All the rest is fine as far as I can see.

Just shoot the tether ball. It goes away super fast.

It sounds great on paper, but in reality it actually sucks pretty badly. If you use nightstalker I recommend using a strength/discipline build. Super is useless.

Guess my aim or my arrows are straight retarded it doesnt matter what super I tether when using quiver but none of them stop theres at all, its been like that for the past week.

Edited by Ghostfire239: 1/31/2016 9:09:29 PMOther one-try supers (FoH and Nova bomb) kill the opponents without giving much of a chance to counter them whereas shadow shot gives enemies a chance to kill you and get away. You can also destroy the anchor to get rid of the tether. Shadowshot doesn't kill enemies that are in the middle of their supers and it take sometime for the tether to activate and if the tether gets no one it dies out in approximately 10 seconds or less. I don't know why you mention it staying after death seeing as Vortex for Nova bomb does that and so does Aftermath for FoH and Sunspots for Sunbreaker. These are some downsides to make up for the plus sides.

I just find this funny, not the post, but when they did the titan changes. They said it was fine that the defender class didn't get as many kills as the other classes , because it was meant to be a support class. Now correct me if I'm wrong, but that is what the nightstalker is right. Now for the record I'm fine with the shadowshoting bowman, If they changed anything if they needed it. In my opinion, either tune down the tracking or just make it not kill on hit, but in exchange make it immediately suppress the target. Those in my opinion are some likely changes if their were any. But as stated I may hate hunters with every fiber of my warlock being, I believe Nightstalkers to be fine.

Not to mention the range on the tether is bad when trying to use it in PvP, and if you use black hole and misfire, that's it. So to basically wrap up Shadowshot; The Supression Device. Nightstalkers were mainly meant for the PvE would since the other classes have only a few 2 or 3 PvE advantages and the tether can help assist your teammates in a wide variety of ways. It's a power you abuse in PvP (not saying that you can't use it) to completely turn the tables and make someone mad.

Because your fairly new to the game you have no idea how OP the other 2 supers for a Hunter are in PvE. Shadow shot actually sucks besides being used to make orbs in PvE and PvP.

I think it's stupid that it takes away my sword when I'm tethered( made my melee a normal melee as if I had no ammo and the blade disappeared ), but because two sniper or shotgun shots take away the orb it isn't too overpowered.
