It was a great game but not worth buying it. Once you beat all the ending and important quests its boring.

Made money and entertains. It did perfectly for Bethesda and helped new people ease into the series

Never played any other Fallout and just got FO4 today. Same with people comparing Just Cause 2 to JC3. Doesn't really affect me at all.

Not a total failure but not perfect by far. The quests are embedded with the main and faction lines so it all seems very short. The voiced protagonist sucks!! Settlement building it okay for a while but is utterly pointless. Also nothing I did impacted the Common Wealth at all. All that being said I had fun during my play through to level 75 but unlike Skyrim I don't really want to jump back in. Sad really.

I'm not going to comment on the quality of the game, but I will say I respect the developers for making so many bold changes to the Fallout formula.
