Microtransactions cosmetic only? Not anymore!
Now we need to spend real money to complete the Halloween quests. It sure must be a lovely holiday... at lest for Bungie who gets to rip it's entire playerbase who already spent a shitload on this game off.

Lol, with this many idiots defending Bungie it will only be a matter of time before you can use Silver to upgrade light levels on items as well.

It appears you don't HAVE to buy the items with real money. You do have to grind A LOT to complete the quests if you don't however. This is not "purely cosmetic" and is most likely just the start as they're trying to see how far they can go with these micro transactions without losing their playerbase. In the future we can thank all the retards who spend money on this for the fact that most things in the game will be available at the speed it takes to process your credit card.
However much hate I may have for Bungie, I do wish to thank them for the mute system though. It's like insecticide against retarded teenagers. Thank you for a cleaner forum.

You've already mentioned that you don't have to buy mask packs but are encouraged to do so, but you forget that filling a candy bag can be done in one mission or so (say, a Strike, the Daily Heroic, a Crucible match or two, etc.), and Eva Levante gives you a new bag to fill every time you turn them in.

yes and no... if you are obsessed with getting every last mask, then i can see that you might have to pay a little bit to complete all the quests.... HOWEVER, these masks are purely cosmetic and wont affect the core game experience itself. The masks actually drop your light level so why would you ever use them in game, and the quests do not reward exp or rep, so there is really nothing game breaking about this even. If you want to participate and get all the masks, go ahead, if you dont, your light level will not suffer (in fact it will probably benefit from the lack of distraction).

Idiotic. Guess some people cry about anything. And u cant skip any parts of the quests spending real money. Everything can be done for free. I chose to spend money and got the same masks i paid for for free after filling a couple candy bags. Total of 20 min. To fill a couple bags and get what i already had.

Does the quest give you anything other than masks? I'm at work, but I feel like people are making a big deal of this for no reason. Seems like this quest is completely optional, so why complain about people spending money on something that has no real tangible effect on the experience of you or other players? I may be totally off, and if I am feel free to slam me.

All of the festival items that you can purchase with Silver are cosmetic. With the exception of the emotes, all of them can be obtained by just playing the event. The vast majority will disappear when the event ends. Nothing you can obtain by using Silver has any effect on the game at large. Show me one item that has light level or provides some bonus not already offered by existing items and I will retract my statement, but I don't think you will find one. My suggestion would be to fully investigate the facts before flying off the handle with incorrect information.

4 RepliesRegardless of if you think this event is pay to win or not, the fact of the matter is that we are getting closer and closer to pay to win. First it was emotes, now you can skip a quest with silver. You have the right to spend your money on whatever you want but we have seen this many times before in other games. If you don't see where this is going you are being very close minded. His point was that we put a stop to this before it gets out of hand. I have seen multiple post where kids said they spend 40$ trying to get a specific mask. That's all bungie needs to justify micro transactions and include more in the future. They know most reasonable adult gamers won't waste their money on these things but they know the younger gamers that mostly use their parents money will. And look at where the game is being directed towards the most now.... Teen rating.... Activision has been doing this for awhile now. Just look at the last couple call of duties.
