Just want to see. People seem to be pissed off about not keeping old weapons when most MMO's do this.

5 RepliesEdited by AK47Trainwreck: 8/5/2015 9:17:05 PMAlthough I'm excited for the expansion it may be similar but not what happens in a mmo at all. I will miss my weapons but I'm excited for the future. I'm not complaining but I wont hesitate to correct someone. First off this is not a mmo at all. There are too few people per server and on top of that have you ever Googled mmo? Its definition clearly stats mmos are games in which there is player trading. In a mmo the weapons do not differ but in looks really. They give you more stats allowing you to do more damage or greater heals yes. You do not however level the weapons. In most mmos, you do the content and use tokens to purchase the new weapon or gear. You want to get new gear because you'll do more damage. With this game you want particular weapon for what they can do. (Firefly on fatebringer for example) we level those weapons up with experience and materials. The only thing similar I can think of is the relic zodiac weapons in final fantasy 14. Even in most mmos you have the option to make gear look like older gear if you don't like the new gears look but still keep stats.

3 RepliesWorld of Warcraft, SW The old republic, league of legends, Star Trek online, EVE. I prefer scifi over fantasy, and Destiny is truly first of its kind. Sure there are a plethora of problems but it's only just starting, the fact that Bungie set itself a 10 year timeline means improvements will happen. (Plus if anyone ever played Star Trek online they'll know what it means for a game to start as utter crap only to get better given time) At the end of the day it's unique in its style. So there is not one thing to compare it to.

1 ReplyI will give people the fact it is not a true MMO, but it is also not your standard FPS. It's a Mashup of a few genres and when it comes to gear and raiding it is MMO like. With that said I'm pumped for this. It's basically an over complicated stat squish. I think it will revitalize the game for most dedicated fans.

Ragnarok Online, LOTRO, SWTOR. Kept my old weapons in LOTRO and SWTOR. Recently been able to equip cosmetic weapons in LOTRO so I can look like have my old bow/sword/axe etc. And SWTOR you can just upgrade most of your equipment to be highest attack/defence. So you don't have to change, appearance but still have to craft/buy the upgrade material/mod.

The only thing massive about destiny is the repetition

9 RepliesI've played many many MMOs and if people think this game is a grind they know nothing. Try spending 3 weeks just getting past the 3rd stage of a boss encounter with 39 other people and whole days farming materials just so that you can create potions for a raid.

Rotmg....

Yup. Kind of funny how a majority of people who oppose the gear change haven't but the supporters has. Even if destiny isn't a true mmo this should be telling people something.
-
1 ReplyIt sucks because most mmos have more than a handful of guns/weapons. The new expansion seems to be forcing us all to use the same kind of weapons if we want the dmg.

Wow, neverwinter, and Planetside 2 (which is mmofps, not mmorpg). And we are doing the right thing this time.

Runescape, eve online, can't think of any others.
