UPDATE 7/3: I ended up doing some summer cleaning today while rerolling guns, got rid of most of my vault/inventory. Very sad day. Most of the collection I was amassing is gone. But it had to be done. R.I.P. Hundreds of hours of work.
UPDATE: If the issue is with the loading of all 3D models as we are currently assuming, would you be willing to forgo those to increase vault space, and only have that in the inventory? Maybe even be unable to see perks unless the gun is in your inventory if necessary?

Original Thread:
I have a good solution to this, another company has already adapted this for their own game. So Bungie's main argument is memory usage on the consoles for all the weapons. While many argue against that being a possible issue, let's assume that is correct. So what's the solution?
An external vault. In a game all about collecting them all having the space to actually keep 'em all is essential. Anybody else know a game that has way too many collectibles and not even space?
Pokemon.
There's so many Pokemon I'm the game, and the bank does not allow you to hold them all (Edit: I stand corrected by many users, the newer games do allow you to store them all, they give you ample space without pokebank. I was unaware, haven't played the new gens, forgive me). Whether or not this is an arbitrary limitation or an actual memory limitation of the games I have no idea, but they made a solution recently.
It's the Pokemon bank. An external application that holds an insane amount of Pokemon. They charge 5 dollars a year for the service, and have many the game truly about catchin' them all.
This is the exact solution we need in Destiny. Whether or not the charge is necessary or sufficient is something you can discuss, but I'd gladly pay 5-10 dollars a year for vault space.
How do you feel about it?
Edit: Thank you everybody for keeping this alive for 1k posts!

6 RepliesEdited by warriorhealer: 7/1/2015 8:06:58 PMI understand wanting to collect them all! But seriously how many weapons do you actually use? Not even enough to fill one character I'm guessing. So vault space definitely shouldn't be beating out actual game issues for attention. Alternatively, just let me use all slots in the vault for whatever I want! My armor slots have two items and consumables never have more than 5. So that's a ton of wasted space for me.

I actually make a thread about this same exact idea a while ago. I'm glad im not the only one that's realized pokemon had the perfect storage system ever made in a game.

15 RepliesI already talked to dudes at GameStop. They are doing this. It's already in the works.

If you throw money at yo......... Man, this joke is getting old quick
-
13 RepliesWhy do you people have so any useless weapons. I just don't understand it. There's like 30 weapons tops that are worth keeping. Stop hoarding, its a bad habit to get into.
-
3 RepliesAn extra 5 or 10 dollars a year? You have Bungie's attention...

Edited by oneoftheslowkids: 7/1/2015 8:38:05 PMI main a warlock and my titan is more valt space I'm now out of room on him so time for a new guy and new space. I tried to play a titan but its just not fun.

1 ReplyLol, this community pay a fee for extra vault space? They can't even stop crying long enough about the cost of TTK.
-
22 Repliesi have a solution too, delete the useless weapons cluttering your vault that you have never touched.
-
40 dollars a month and you can use my vault
-
5 RepliesOr stop hoarding so many weapons you will not be using.
-
Two ideas that are a bit more simple... Add pages to existing vaults.. Or make the tower and reef vaults separate. Bam! Problem solved
-
They wont ever let you have a vault on your console to store them for people would then try and hack them or mod them to gain advantage in the game. They wont ever add another program to do it for it is their own server space they would have to use for this and they wont want to do this for this game ever.

i just love pokemon
-
6 RepliesThey could just give us current gen people what we are asking for...in a separate patch, that last gen doesn't get.
-
Are you f•cked in the f•cking head? Bungie's solution to everything is to charge us and you want them to charge more? And if they do this, what next? Charge $5.95/month for Iron Banner to be a permanent fixture? Or how about charging $3.99 for exotic engrams? Fool.
-
Just basically gave bungie another plan to take people's money's good job op
-
11 RepliesThe reason vault space isn't getting any bigger is because the xbox360 and ps3 are not able to handle a bigger vault their console limitation is what is keeping people on Xbox one and ps4 from having more space.
-
Can we not have even more paylocks? It's bad enough in f2p games. We don't need it in a paid one.
-
2 RepliesU should pay 80$ just for vault space once a year throw money at the screen
-
You would pay 5-10 dollars a YEAR for virtual space to store virtual guns? I'm sorry but this is why bungie set there prices like they do people will pay for anything
-
3 RepliesThere's no way in hell I'm paying for more vault space. They increased the capacity once (for free) so they can do it again (for free) regardless of any issues with last-gen consoles. The way they designed the vault space was terrible to begin with. Instead of having everything splattered on one page they should have put tabs in or given you the option to select the different categories. The more I think about it, the more I wonder where on earth the production money went for this game.

I say let your ship have vault space...make it useful!
-
or gives us a vault for each character in the reef and vault in the tower that we can access with each character
-
8 RepliesBlame it on last gen peasants
-
13 RepliesOr people could just not horde useless guns that they're never going to use
