Yeah, that's nice in theory but the gun is so forgiving that you never need the second shot.
If there was handcannon that killed with 1 body shot but took 7 seconds to reload would people be okay with it? No, of course not. No matter how people who have one try to rationalize it, Felwinter's is clearly superior to every other shotgun in the game. This goes against Bungie's stated weapon philosophy, and the gun should therefore be nerfed.

I smoke felwinter dudes with my secret handshake all damn day. Even when I play rumble with my friends who play way more pvp than I do I still smoke them. Jus make them miss the first shot. Then they lose Get gud scrub

11 RepliesProblem is its double stacked range perks. There was an early patch that eliminated this from all future shotgun rolls. Given that this one was manually configured this way, it'd bypass bungie's own attempt at weapon balance. If all shotguns could double stack range again, then problem solved. But can't have exceptions to the rules in a legendary.

4 RepliesThe standard secret handshake from the vanguard quartermaster can own a perfectly rolled Felwinters at least half the time due to its 5x faster rate of fire. When I run bubble, which is always, I take SH over FL every time because rate of fire means much more inside my bubble.

I wouldn't say its the best, but its range is definitely a crutch for most people that use it , getting killed 30 feet from my opponent isnt fun when they have the damage of a shotgun

You're damn right I have a problem with that...because I'm usually playing against a team of 6 guys. It's not at all uncommon for me to run into multiple players by myself. It does me no good to get a single kill and then get whacked immediately afterword. Same thing with the Felwinter, reload time does negate it's power by putting the user in a vulnerable position during the long process.

I don't think you know what you're talking about, and your analogy is quite terrible. A much better comparison would be a sniper that killed in one shot within its effective range with a rate of fire of 5/100, Stability of 5 -15/100, and a reload speed of 15 - 20/100. A sniper rifle with the highest range and impact, subpar mag size, lowest rate of fire, reload speed and stability that killed in one shot within its effective range could be overpowered depending on how it works. In close quarters, Felwinter's Lie absolutely should kill you in one shot. Other shotguns have the luxury of getting a second shot out within a decent amount of time. Felwinter's doesn't have that luxury. Complain about something that's actually game breaking.

So why is it so -blam!-ing hard for people to use the same logic for adapting to close range? If someone is using felwinters then just adapt and play a longer range. I promise you the felwinters range is not that OP. Meaning, if you were in the range of my felwinters lie you would be just as dead if I was using a secret handshake. What's a couple more -blam!-ing steps?! Stop bitching and complaining over it because let's be honest. You would be dead 9/10 with any shotgun being used in the range from the player that killed you. Just learn to adapt? Or don't, I'm fine gunning you down.

Had one for a while but only managed to get a good roll last ib. I now find myself using it more and more as it really is so easy to get a kill with. Always hated shotguns and usually ran with a sniper but the winters is insane. Can't make a case for it not being op... ...won't stop using it. On a side note. Most people that I kill with it could avoid it by simply acknowledging the radar and not following me round a corner.

I have Felwinters, with a near perfect roll (I just wish it had arc instead of void, but I'm not rerolling again for it). I like it and don't plan to dismantle it anytime soon. However, I find I have more success using Plan C for my green weapon. Two to the Morgue works well also, as does Invective. I have a Secret Handshake with full auto that also works very nicely. I know I've been killed by a lot of weapons in Crucible, and FW doesn't seem disproportionately represented. I'm much more concerned about the guy on the other side with Vex. It is a nice weapon to be sure, but you have to be a little careful about your attacks, and factor in waiting for follow up shots.
