Now before you strike down your mighty jellyhorn opinions onto me, understand this, gjallarhorn is the last exotic I'm missing on Xbox. I don't personally have it but my friends do so I have had first hand experience(via playing on their accounts). Let's start of with the basics
PvP: let's all be honest, you could replace Gjallarhorn with any tracking rocket launcher. Truth has 10x better tracking as well. It's not a bad PvP rocket launcher but Hunger of Crota will do Gjallarhorns job and leave your exotic slot open.
PvE: here's where Gjallarhorn shines. Kinda. How many people use Gjallarhorn as their exotic slot for things like: Void/Arc Nightfalls? Killing low level enemies grouped together? Or do you only pull it out for a single high health target? Because that's how 90% of people use it. If you aren't a Titan with ruin wings then I'd almost bet you don't use your Rocket launchers for anything except high health targets. So yes, Gjallarhorn is great at what it does. It's the go to weapon for killing things like the Templar and taking Crotas shield down, but that's about it. It's not game breaking, it's not OP, it's good for the single purpose of damaging high health targets. I really don't understand why people think Xur selling Gjallarhorn would be any different than when he sold icebreaker.
TL; DR
Gjallarhorn is really good at what it's good at (damaging high health targets) but if you're not in that situation(or a Titan with ruin wings) you're wasting your exotic slot.

I agree its not as good as all the hype, but it does out class most launchers

31 RepliesFirst of all, you don't have it. So shut your face. I've never been to China, so I don't have an opinion on going there.. If you don't have 1 or have ever seen its power first hand then shut your pie hole. Gjallerhorn shits on everything else, period. Let me see you shoot two Hunger of Crota or Truth rockets at Crota and see if you can down him. People solo Crota because of Gjallerhorn. If anyone has proof of taking down Crota solo with a Truth or HoC show me the proof. Face it kid, deep down inside you know you want this. Your really all peanut butter and jelly inside.. It's cool. We all know it. Just let it out..
-blam!-
1 Replyone thing that i can say is shit about gjallarhorn and I'm sure people that use it a lot will agree with me, is that i swear it has proximity detonation as a hidden perk lol. That shit drives me up the wall sometimes.
-
Im a titan with ruin wings and its ridiculously op in pve. Use it for everything

3 RepliesI have a question, what exotic would you use or prefer in PVE over Ghorn? And ghorn does EVERYTHING better in PVE lol,and there are great legendary primary and special weapons out there to choose from..however you said it yourself ghally does more damage to everything, truth may have a bigger blast radius but once again them wolfpack rounds keep coming. The thing about this insane weapon is if any player at all in this entire game was asked to choose three and only three weapons in the game the primary and special could be numerous guns BUT if they didn't choose ghallahorn as their heavy preferences aside they would absolutely be wrong. If you have it you use it. (If they don't they are playing less efficiently.) EVERYTHING can be done without one 100% yes to those elitist who only accept people with ghallahorn BUT it really make a difference and that is also a fact.

I was standing a good distance from someone who got Gjallarhorned in PVP but the wolf pack rounds chased me and another player who weren't affected by the blast radius and the wolf pack killed us both, that gave the other person 3 kills. So if you are good legendary weapons then by all means use the Gjallarhorn. I've been shot at on iron banner by rocket that had clusters, I jumped so the blast radius took my health but didn't kill me, then I dropped on the clusters and they did nothing. On pve I've run strikes where heavy kept dropping and dropping from thrall on omnigul and Phogoth, not to mention that I always have synths and mix them with radiant dance machines or with armamentarium with my Titan, that gives me 7-8 rockets per synth. Gjallarhorn is worth all the hype and more.

The only time my doncheedlehorn leaves my heavy slot is if I'm taking out oracles...

8 RepliesEdited by TheWavetwister: 2/22/2015 11:00:34 PMIt's always the ones that don't have it. Yeah you may have used it on a friends account, but when you rock it day to day you realise nothing comes close to what it does best. PvE there is no really good primary's to sub out an exotic slot for, secondary's you're looking at IB, but BH or Spear do just as good a job.

You can touch my jelly horn, bro. It's ok.
-
I couldnt give a dam about Gjallarhorn because I dont need it. Total time played is over 800+ and in that I breeze through the raids. Didnt even need it when I did my flawless raider. Gjallarhorn is good but not my type.
-
Gjallarhorn shines on single targets, to be sure. But it's not a 'waste' of an exotic to use it otherwise. Because Heavy weapons in general are meant to be used on high health or high damage targets. What weapon would you prefer to use over Gjallarhorn in most situations? The answer is nothing. Some exotics have niche roles that they excel at. However, generally speaking, in most cases Gjallarhorn outshines everything else.
-
I pretty much only use it on bosses.
-
The only reason you would say this or agree with this is cause you don't have it. Simple
-
You dont own it you disgusting wannabe. Shut your trap and stop spewing ignorance out of that filth you call mouth!!
-
lmao honestly only someone without gjallarhorn would say this.I don't get why people without it try to find reasons to make themselves believe that its not that good. Then once they get they will change there minds. And yes read that you said you have used it.
-
Umm.. Nah.
-
2 RepliesBut that's exactly why people want it. For the bosses....or possibly Randal the Vandal...he's a douche
-
After running through the pve content a thousand times, I love being able to whip out the gally and breeze through stuff. It makes me feel overpowered. I've had truth for months and it never gave me that feeling. It is the most useful weapon a guardian could use. There is no substitute.

Ruined Wings + Corrective Measure (Surplus Perk) Switch out of corrective measure to Ghorn and you'll have Ghorn shots for days.
-
I put my best weapons at every slot and g horn is the best heavy spear is best special imo with the perks I have and Gheleons with the perks I have so out works out
-
9 RepliesUm heavy ammo synths cool down every five minutes so between them and the heavy adds drop i can basically roll with just ghorn. You know anybody who really plays this game has 100's of ammo synths right? I just soloed the warmind using nothing except ghorn took like 5mins.
-
I've had Ghorn since first month of the game, honestly I love it's power and looks, but it's garbage when it comes to tracking the target that you lock on to for the most part. i.e. Lock onto a problem reaver in the back of the map or so you think you did, instead the rock acts like a proximity rocket and blows up in your face on a dreg 5 feet in front of you instead of flying to the target in the back of the map But all in all a fantastic weapon
-
In a PvE setting there are way too many solid raid guns for the primary and special slots to handle any situation. VoG had great ones and then CE added different elements to different guns. If you have Gjallarhorn you should be using it for every PvE scenario.
-
Gjallarhorn is great, but I prefer my icebreaker
-
3 RepliesTruth tracks better, but ghorns Wolfpack rounds track even better. HoC's just fall to the group around targets, but the Gally goes after them. Point:GHORN
-
6 RepliesI don't think you realize that GHORN destroys everything arc SHEILDS no big deal void sheilds gone solar sheilds mega gone. Ghorn I the best exotic in the game.
