let's be honest, Gjallarhorns not that great
Now before you strike down your mighty jellyhorn opinions onto me, understand this, gjallarhorn is the last exotic I'm missing on Xbox. I don't personally have it but my friends do so I have had first hand experience(via playing on their accounts). Let's start of with the basics
PvP: let's all be honest, you could replace Gjallarhorn with any tracking rocket launcher. Truth has 10x better tracking as well. It's not a bad PvP rocket launcher but Hunger of Crota will do Gjallarhorns job and leave your exotic slot open.
PvE: here's where Gjallarhorn shines. Kinda. How many people use Gjallarhorn as their exotic slot for things like: Void/Arc Nightfalls? Killing low level enemies grouped together? Or do you only pull it out for a single high health target? Because that's how 90% of people use it. If you aren't a Titan with ruin wings then I'd almost bet you don't use your Rocket launchers for anything except high health targets. So yes, Gjallarhorn is great at what it does. It's the go to weapon for killing things like the Templar and taking Crotas shield down, but that's about it. It's not game breaking, it's not OP, it's good for the single purpose of damaging high health targets. I really don't understand why people think Xur selling Gjallarhorn would be any different than when he sold icebreaker.
TL; DR
Gjallarhorn is really good at what it's good at (damaging high health targets) but if you're not in that situation(or a Titan with ruin wings) you're wasting your exotic slot.

I think you're saying Gjallarhorn is overrated. You are completely wrong on that. What you should've said was "Gjallarhorn is over hyped." I still wouldn't agree with you, but at least you'd have something to debate about.

NO ONE EXCEPT RETARDS. If you actually had experience with the thing you would know it has [i]proximity detonation[/i] which actually means truth has nothing on Gjally except for excellent tracking, maybe you didn't know this but Gjally is actually better at clearing trash mobs than Truth. Why? Because [i]wolfpack rounds combined deal the same damage as the initial rocket[/i]. So you blow everything up and anything that was just outside the blast radius gets rekt. Sorry OP but you're an idiot, so is anyone else that agrees with you. Gjally really is fūcking amazing, and when you have excellent legendaries all with burns on both other slots, you are not disadvantaged when you run an exotic heavy. "Hunger of crota will do Gjallys job" omg that gets me every time, keep trying, that right there actually proves you don't even know what the fūck you're on about.

I don't wish to validate the OP, but at the same time there is some bullshit to call out. Gjallarhorn is NOT just useful for high health single targets. Not by a LONG shot. Gjallarhorn is the BEST weapon at clearing mobs simply due to its Wolfpack rounds which seek out any and all enemies in the blast area.

1 ReplyDon't see how I am wasting my exotic slot. I use a raid primary with elemental damage. I use blackhammer with white nail and gjallarhorn. Exotic primary does not have elemental damage a side from vex and necro. No thanks. So that leaves a exotic special weapon. A case could be made for icebreaker but compared to blackhammer not much to gain. Situational. No gjallarhorn will be equipped unless it is a arc or void burn.

I have a bunch of heavy ammo synth. Mostly everything I do is either a raid, nightfall or crucible since I have 3 lv 32s of each class. All those things I do require me to use my Gjallarhorn for maximum damage output. I forgot to mention I have a shoot to loot gun which makes it so I can max my Gjallarhorn each time even a single heavy drops. What I like to do is to swap weapons all the time. Especially to my icebreaker. Ok The Walking Dead is on. Tired of writing this crap. You're just jelly you don't have one

There's no primary or special exotic worth using in pve and you saying hoc will do a gallys job is just ludacris. Hoc is garbage. I can definitely tell you don't have one. Maybe you should play on your buddy's account a little more

The tracking on Hunger of Crota is terrible for pvp. It's inferior to ghorn in every way. That being said, it's the next best replacement in pve where tracking is required like Crota himself.

7 RepliesI read, "hunger of Crota can do ghjallarhorns job" and stopped reading because no.... Any weapon can kill, but what weapon does it the fastest? Ghjallarhorn, it kills so much can faster that it can literally save your life. No weapon can get clutch kills like ghjallarhorn can. Tracking is not really a dps stat either.

1 ReplyG-horn an Vex are the only 2 weapons that are not over rated. They kill stuff so fast. With solar burn Omnigul goes down with 6 rockets. HoC cant come close to that. You will see once you get one.

It is a great rocket launcher, best dps hands down for PvE stuff. PvP Truth is much better, proximity is so fun in PvP to get those pesky campers lol. I don't really use mine that often though, I use hunger for Crota and use my exotic for a primary with health regen and have never had any problems, I use it mostly for fun, especially since I now have almost 100 heavy ammo synths on each character so I can play around with rockets/lmg whenever I want. The issue I see is that too many people rely on ghorn and act like total douches towards people that haven't had good luck with getting it from rng.

Yeah i was playing the VoG at confluxes earlier and 3 people had Gjallahorn and the other 2 and I did not. Yet, I by far had the most kills (i got like 120 and the next best had 70) Course, then i get trolled by both the other non-Ghorners getting it from the exotic chest -_- It's the only exotic i still need too Been playing since beta

It's the best in the game, the shells can target other players, have had a 4 man rocket kill before (not from impact)

1 ReplyDon't have one yet, but after getting the hawkmoon and the fact I have HOC and corrective measure, I really don't see me using it as much. My exotic slot is going to remain in use.

Its only useful in the Raid/Nightfall. I have it before y'all start your galligious remarks (gjallarhorn religion for those unfamiliar with the term). I would rather have Ice Breaker or Suros as my exotic 90% of the time.
