Thats your opinion! You are ok with cheating but not with trolling? Whats the difference? Say this kid doesn't get trolled and continues to cheat his way through everything he can get away with, what happens in a few yrs when he sits his exams in school? Growing up thinking cheating is the best way to get what you want isn't doing the kid any favours, and neither are ppl like you who actively support him

  • I don't think the kid learned not to cheat because of this. If anything, he just learned to be more careful about his cheating. There was no "valuable life lesson" learned. There was no good that came out of this. And when kids see this kind of behavior in adults, they often tend to copy it. Now that this video is up, expect to see more assholes pulling this kind of crap on people. People who were not trying to cheat. Yes, everyone should know not to share their accounts with strangers, but think of the non cheaters this will inevitably happen to now that it's "a thing". I don't think the kid should get a ton of "donations", just his stuff back.

Well I disagree, why should the kid get his stuff back? That can only teach him that the two mistakes he made (trying to cheat and trusting strangers) are no big issue compared to trolling, and that's wrong! All of these things are wrong and if the troll gets banned (which he should be) why should the kid get away with it? Ban him for cheating or ban him for being 5years too young for the game, it is a 16 rated game so whats an 11yr old even doing on it?

  • Well, he's not my kid, so I have no say in what his parents let him play. The game isn't gratuitously violent or sexual in any way. I absolutely agree that cheaters shouldn't be rewarded with a bunch of extra stuff because people feel sorry for them, even little kids. That would be a bad thing to teach him. But, giving him his stuff back, I don't see anything wrong with that. He lost his characters and gear for a few days. That's punishment enough in my book. He basically got "grounded". He shouldn't be punished indefinitely. I get it when people say "suck it up and just relevel your characters, I do it all the time", but when they do it, they put all their gear in the vault first. Bam! 32. This little dude lost everything. You can't get all of the gear back in a week. Not with rng. There is obviously a division of the community over this. I'm more in the grey area. He tried to cheat. That's lame and he shouldn't prosper from it, but he was taken advantage of and shouldn't suffer either. He's just a kid, man.

I bet if he was your kid you wouldn't be letting him live stream alone in his room in a largely adult community! Cause I know I wouldn't! He is clearly too young and niave to be gaming online, I can understand people who think he should get his stuff back but I personally don't agree with it, from my experience of kids online they are either like this kid (not mature enough to be responsible with his account) or they're foul mouthed little bastards who think they're being clever saying disgusting things to people they know nothing about, all because they are safe at home and not face to face with the person they're telling "your mums a fat c#*t" imo both types of kids should not be online. So I have very little sympathy for any of them because the online gaming community isn't for them, look through you game cases at the age ratings, these aren't designed for 11yr olds

  • Fair enough about unsupervised online play. I agree with you on that. But kids will do whatever their parents allow them to do. So yeah, Mom and Dad kinda screwed up here. Video games should not replace parenting or babysitting. Kids should ALWAYS be supervised online. I agree 100%. Does that mean that the kid was wrong for doing something his parents allowed him to do? I don't think so. Yes, he WAS wrong for trying to cheat. No argument there. Not even close. So some random asshole is allowed to "punish him"? I guarantee you Kirmit is a cheater himself. Where is the justice in that? That makes him the Scum of the earth. Which I think most people can agree with. When you're a kid, these games are so much more important than when you're and adult just having fun. Losing all his stuff crushed him more than it would any adult. That is what makes it sad to me. Whether he should be playing the game or not seems irrelevant. I'm sure his parents felt his heartbreak and I hope they learned THEIR lesson. But give the kid a break.

Quote of the day there pal "video games shouldn't replace parenting or babysitters" that's exactly what has caused this, if they leave their kids unsupervised on the internet then this sh!t WILL happen, or worse! As for the troll that did it, he's getting banned from what I've heard on other threads and serves him right, the gaming community would be a much better place without kids and trolls. I know the age ratings are a guide and not law but I'm personally surprised that bungie have publicly backed this kid, he's a full 5 yrs under their recommended age for this game and they shouldn't ignore that
