I feel the current stage of Gambit has run its course.
Nobody looks for the invader because they dont really care about winning.
Honestly, I do not blame them because it doesnt change the reward outcome and there are no bounties that guarantee anything significant or substantial for it.
Allow Gambit to become a special event that is catered around all enemies including Guardians.
The Drifter already has a voice sequence set up for a concept like this and it would more beneficial this way.
Think of “Drifter and The New Challengers” or “DNC” but in anything the game has to offer.
Allow it to be more common ground versus end game ie Public Events/Bounties/Patrols That Become Heroic, Dungeons That Become Legend or Master At A Whim or Where the Crucible Map Changes Randomly And Your Loadouts Are Swapped With Your Opponents.
The whole “Enemies Are Coming Together” is a great start considering it has been in the game since D1.

3 RepliesGambit on release was the best version of itself and almost every significant change made it worse I will die on this hill

1 ReplyI’d rather Gambit stays as it is than become like that. It’s been my most played game mode recently. Prefer it to strikes as I cannot be bothered with battlegrounds, PvP isn’t somewhere I want to spend much time and Onslaught ain’t it for me.

Edited by A_mo: 5/12/2024 5:38:23 PMGambit is something that more people probably would have kept playing for fun if it never had the circular firing squad matchmaking applied to it, very hard at some points. No matter what happens to gambit the drifter must stay. But there's definitely a lot of ways a new gambit could be worked into the story similar to what happened with Shaxx. People really don't like the invasions but there should be some role for guardians outside of just killing enemies and something mechanic focused that's not too complex like what's in onslaught might help freshen things up. Other than that the mode really needs a complete overhaul because more than anything it feels old a lot of the time what with the same maps in rotation and not many other changes. Then there's also the thing where what the general population enjoys tends to be somewhat different from what more traditional players like in terms of rewards relative to ability. That would no doubt be fun to figure out.
