This is probably gonna be hard for some people to understand and accept, but trials is an endgame pvp mode. The nature of trials requires players to be able to win consistently, and often the players who complain the loudest are the bottom 10%.
There is no way everyone can go flawless, it’s not mathematically possible. Even if SBMM was implemented, you are still gonna struggle getting 7 wins before 2 losses, even against your skill bracket.
The hard to accept truth is that some people can’t go flawless, and thats okay. If you want to go flawless, you need to be willing to play and try to improve, instead of crying on forums for it to be changed. If you’re not willing to improve, just stop playing. Bungie isn’t forcing you too …

Sometimes it works pretty good. Its definitely headed in a more competitive direction. So in case people don't know, the difference between good and bad players is that with good players when they screw up they don't make it so you can't do anything about it, and they keep themselves in a position to do something about if you mess up. You can see how that can get out of whack. But when you play the game too much you put yourself in all kinds of positions to see how your teammates and the game responds. And most people think you're playing trash to try to prove a point. Then they want to make you prove the point. I I'm over like hhhhhhwhy should have to keep doing this for these people? Just a joke. I suck at trials.

3 RepliesPvp endgame? Lmao More like newbie farm, cannon fodder mill.

4 RepliesSo quick analysis on that claim: you played 7 games of Trials this week as of March 24th. All 7 of your games were essentially non-competitive and predetermined. You never faced another player who could actually compete with you. Your average chance of winning a game was 97.6%. The highest ELO you faced was 2428, almost 500 points lower than your ELO. And they had a 3% chance of winning that game. You are not competing. You are being fed people to beat.

24 RepliesOh boy, here we go killing Trials again! “Trials isn’t for everyone, just stop playing if you can’t get good” Turns into “Nobody’s playing Trials anymore, all my matches are sweatfests, where are the casuals?” It’s my favorite show.

People are going to complain if they're unhappy. Trials isnt fun for those people they leave and Bungie implements change to get them back, rinse and repeat. Based on the recent changes it's fair to say Bungie has realized that making a game mode requiring people to be good isnt going to have much of a population.

28 RepliesEdited by Seki: 3/23/2024 1:20:29 PMWhen the MM is actively rigged, then there is reason to complain. I am an all time 48% winrate and even improved on that this season (both in K/D and winrate) until Persistence card was a thing. Last week, I required 62 games to reach the 7 on a Persistence card. There are enough fellow potatoes and a ton of worse players in the pool yet I rarely see them in the enemy team. They get stacked with me against 3 freaks (possibly 2 and a normie) more often than not. 3 potatoes that are hopelessly lost before the match even started. And this week looks to very similar as I am at 18 games and my floor on the card is currently 1 (and at a 27% winrate). They throw in the occasional win so people don't lose hope just to absolutely force a 5-0 demolish with barely any chance towards even a kill right after. But sure, the MM is not forcing losses. And sure the MM is not forcing stomps Bungie. Keeping players in the list for longer - occasionally giving them hope - so they pose as target dummies for longer is outright cruel.

1 ReplyHere's a better idea. For anyone struggling with Trials, do something else. Go have fun. Play another mode. Even play another game. It's not worth the hassle.

2 RepliesI totally agree with this. This isn’t about elitism or gatekeeping or any of those stock phrases people like to insert when these conversations come up. Everyone who plays should be rewarded for their time. I’m ok favouring persistence and wouldn’t care if that also took them to the lighthouse full. However, since more and more players have started playing trials again, complaints have also increased. People think they should be winning more, having better teammates etc. The truth is that some players are going to lose a lot more than they will win. Particularly if they are solo queuing where matchmaking is random. If they can’t accept that then it is not on Bungie who has already made the mode rewarding and accessible.

2 RepliesEdited by A_mo: 3/23/2024 2:36:57 PMThere's plenty of improving that can be done on the persistence passage. There's really not a whole lot of complaining that solos or lower skilled players can do in that mode now. Outside of if the gameplay gets insulting or people start taking way too long for their skill level. There's probably some people that might have to take upwards of 100 matches but as long as it goes down from there according to performance then those issues are basically covered. I feel free to complain about trials as I'm playing now because it really is all better once the weapon drops. Trials is fixed as far as I'm concerned. On to the next izzue.
