A Real Fire arm Doesn't have that skill for range and accuracy

Odd how none of the low skill players use Handcannons. But when they try, they get ran over. Meanwhile, autos have more aa, faster ttks and more range while not requiring 100% headshot ratios.

A Real Fire arm Doesn't have that skill for range and accuracy
Ah yes, Destiny, my favorite game with real firearms. My favorite real firearm is Tree Branch that fires a laser which turns combatants into purple basketballs What's everyone else's favorite Real Firearm in Destiny?

I would agree but it *is* a science fiction genre to be fair. Movies and other media would have you think they were the most powerful, but in reality they are simply sidearms. Counter-point, (which happens to be a pet peeve of mine) is that shotguns tickle at 15 meters and have a spread of about 4 feet across. I was extremely disappointed the first time I used a slug shotgun in D2. Real life physics don't translate well and/or are hard to balance, within video games. A shotgun that works realistically at 35-50 meters with a spread of 1 foot across at that range would be very powerful indeed. Instead I will just accept what Bungie wants me to use and shut my brain off to realism, until they decide to buff/nerf what I prefer using.

lol wat?

It's just hard because if they don't have range there's just going to be better weapons. That doesn't mean they all should always have a ton of range. But without it and with the other primary weapons being viable now they'd have to get pretty easy with the aim comes to make up for the lack range. Literally all the other midrange primaries would be better options for most people without the strange range. Also, you know who demands hand cannons due to their all powerful knowledge that also tells people the game should be made for free and attempts to get money are attempts to fleece for no reason. And the game can still produce more and more hand cannon!

A Real Fire arm Doesn't have that skill for range and accuracy
Some quick research found that most pistols can be used up to around 50 yards, a skilled shooter with a magnum or modern model can hit at 100, and apparently some exhibition shooter was able to hit targets consistently up to 600 yards. So if anything, Destiny undersells hand cannons a bit in range, especially considering they are supposed to be futuristic technology, they are bigger than most regular guns, and the Guardian is canonically supposed to be a highly skilled marksman.

2 RepliesYou are playing a game that has space magic, wish dragons, worm gods, and a multitude of other things that are fictional… I don’t think realism is something they consider, nor should they.

You ever been shot in the head with a high calibre rifle and survived? Has anyone? Lots of other examples. Space magic. It's a game. Make-believe. Not real. Real world physics and... most things in reality... need not apply.

Edited by Dredgen Wolf: 12/3/2023 7:52:04 AMI don't know, a real .357-.44 are fairly accurate have good range and if used properly can drop a bear and a single bullet to the dome usually means you would die. .500SW Magnum-.45-70G revolvers have incredible range and power and can drop just about every large US game. Pistols and Handcannons seem about accurate for accuracy but need to do way more damage and have crippling power to body parts. Any revolver/pistol at close range .38 Special and up are absolutely devastating on a human at close range. Realistically though rifles should be doing way more damage at much longer ranges, as well as damage over time from someone bleeding out from a clean hole shot through and through. At close range it might not be instantly noticeable due to the immense bullet speed ripping through flesh. Scout Rifles are almost there but would need almost sniper range, Auto rifles need more bullet range but still wouldn't match a semi-auto rifle for accuracy at the same range. Pulse rifles would have the same range as Auto rifles but with more accurate hits and better shot placement than firing cyclic in an Auto-rifle. Any bullet to the head in most modern calibers (excluding .22lr, .32ACP, .380) will be lethal. Shotguns should have way more range, like deadly within 30-45m for spread, and deadly 100m with a slug. Snipers should have a lethal range 1,000-2,000m. Rockets would need way more range and an unseeably fast projectile. Machineguns need sniper bullet range but are ideally a support gun that can outrange and outgun an Auto-rifle or suppress a whole squad. Call of duty is almost there, the guns look real and have roles but lack realism still.

Edited by Jaegweir: 12/3/2023 4:10:31 PMThink about it Small map, close up encounters, range is there. Then you have the most important aspect YOUR GAME PLAY STYLE. some run around popping corks, some play peekaboo. There are many other weapon types that are just as good. with this being said, we also have the seasonal meta. weapons and elements get buffed some do not but eventually they will get nerfed to a workable level . They do this every season/ expansion. this season Hand cannons, Sidearms and rocket launchers are meta, as are stasis, solar and strand. See you out there.

Because of the Wizard.

Because they changed the TTK for stuff such as Scouts and Pulse rifle for checkmate that Handcannons prevail. Just 4 more weeks and checkmate is gone as the main mode lol.

Guardians are super people. They just aren't super special people. Super special people taste like bacon.
