Let me start by saying that I'm really sorry for all the people that lost their jobs. That blows. I hope they all land in the best possible way.
I've made a few posts before regarding comp, simply because it's the thing that I enjoy the most with destiny. It is, for me, the motivating factor that makes me buy all the expansions and such.
I enjoy the other content, but can rarely play the entire season, simply because I'd rather play comp.
Or at least I used to. Now many of my friends have stopped playing, and comp especially feels so pointless with the way the point system and matchmaking works.
The very quick fix, just fix the point system so that was it isn't +44 for a win and -188 for a loss. It should be similar to before, fixed on wins and on loss, with some loss protection for uneven game or such, but never, never ever punish the winning team! It feels like such an enormous waste of time, when after a game you get 15 points.
Playing feels extremely unrewarding right now.
Also, it's even better to play only players in the same division...
The more problematic one is matchmaking. Games often, way too often, feels like a double carry. It literally feels like the game is working against you... Matchmaking takes forever and often ends up having games that are decided primarily by having the team mates that just run off inspecting the map geometry...
The matchmaking right now also means that I can't play with any friends that don't play a lot of pvp, because I'm just dragging them into lobbies they can't handle. And the same is true if playing with friends that are way better than me, I'm just dragging them down. It used to be great to help less skilled pvp friends, or get help from those that are much better... Now it's just terrible.
I know you need to shake up the meta, but the spray and pray weapons and some abilities are too strong and precision weapons suffer, especially with laggy connections. This is more of a suggestion, but I would love to see the game balanced to reward skilled gunplay, i.e. hitting headshots...
Anyway. I really hope that PvP will improve and I'll buy the final shape right away if you just fix some of the things broken with comp.
Lots of love and appreciation for all the great work. All that's needed is just reworking the matchmaking and point system so that it feels rewarding to invest in skill instead of being punished.

Edited by ΜΟΛΩΝ ΛΑΒΕ: 11/10/2023 10:11:32 PMWin/loss algorithm has always been -blam!- up. Damage ref has always been -blam!- up. Lobby balancing has been -blam!- up for years. I gave up on pvp, when f2p brought all the cheaters to the game. Cross-play finished it off. PvP cannot be saved, this late in the game.

Comp Score is predetermined by Bungie, so you already have a set score before you even play a match. Once you hit your rank, you gain 5 points but lose 50+ when you lose. The only way you can hit Ascendant with a low Bungie Skill Rating is by being carried by 2 800+ BSR players. Since their aren't enough players to beat said "team," you won't lose, and Bungie won't force them to lose since they are supposed to be Ascendant. The average player in Destiny 2 has a 0.97 kd (not kda) and a 100 Combat rating. Which is roughly 0 Bungie skill rating (Gold Rank). Someone with a 3+kd 250CR is about 850-1000 BSR. So when they lost, they didn't lose more than 20 points, but each win is 100-200 until they hit Acendant.

Destiny was never intended or ever will be a PvP game.

12 RepliesI realized last night in sbmm control facing a streamer ( not in my skill bracket, much better than I am ) and 3,500 miles from me. Pvp needs regional connection based matchmaking. We aren't in the same country.. I personally believe Bungie needs to focus on connection quality.

1 ReplyOne easy way to make PvP inifinitely better is to add Combined Arms into the rotation.

Agreed pls remove lobby balancing

Take off the stats and let it be for pvp make everything static. And the lobby balancing as it’s been the worse in all video game history needs serious rework.

We are going to hear from the PvP strike team tomorrow. Let’s hope it’s good news.

I just want them to make adept rose and adept mercurial. Stick them in ascendant rank to farm. It's really simple rewards wise. The lobby balancing also needs to be looked at. Love sbmm in comp though .

7 RepliesImo, to balance weapons, I think all full auto weapons (Smgs, Autos) should have a 1 second TTK, and precision weapons (Hand Cannons, Pulses, Scouts) should have a 0.8 TTK (140 Hand Cannons current TTK. The most forgiving weapons should have the slowest TTK and the least forgiving weapons should have the fastest. (Also remove bows)

7 RepliesSoo you just want pvp on a pve game, well.. you can always go back to fortnite or cod

Edited by A_mo: 11/8/2023 3:05:59 PMComp's player population is most likely so relatively low that there seems to be no reason for it to not become a PvP player's paradise. The people that know what's best for the game should make the decisions about that but as a PvP player that's going to be how I feel about that mode where there's almost no reason whatsoever to try to make sense out of a matchmaking population that low. Unless its higher than I think it is or at a level that will somehow make itself magically shoot up. Also the majority of the weapon creativity and rewards are just going to have to go to other parts of PvP if they can get them. People kind of expect a good Iron Banner at this point, which is not so much of a bad thing.
-
I’m with you I do PvP then when PVE has dried up I do PvP. I just don’t think they can do it at least not the people they have now.
-
Finally, someone with a bit of sense in this community. Was beginning to think it was full of blue haired virgins.
-
what has most activity. pvp or pve? anyway we can see that?
-
3 RepliesThey desperately need to improve matchmaking, doesn't matter what system, just don't put the best 4 players on the same team
-
1 ReplyStop people using hacks to get none stop headshots.. it’s so obvious to anyone playing they are cheating. Also the people on console who also have a pc stop using your mnk you major cringe bags

Edited by Magiscene: 11/8/2023 12:55:07 PMThe first two I relate too a lot. The points and broken matchmaking ruined comp for me. The skilled ggunplay doesn’t really bother me that much yeah hand cannons are fun and rewarding but I like to mix it up with other weapon’s because running the same thing just gets boring. Probably my favorite crucible meta was season of arrivals when you could run high impact pulse rifles, 600 autos, and 150/140 hand cannons and it was probably one of the more balanced metas to date imo yeah hand cannons had less range and autos were a little to op but it had that trifecta of being able to run all three. Now it’s just bow smg spam. I rarely see any else like pulses or hand cannons and when i do they get shafted then switch to smg. The abilities too to me are a nice to have because they add to my tool box. Yeah they’re annoying I get it. But for me gunplay alone is just boring yeah you have the movement, but if I’m shooting someone and all they do is just retreat and hide the second I dmg or get them low it’s nice to have my grenade to shoot clean them up or get them out of cover for the final shot vs having only my weapon work with. I know I’m in the minority of wanting abilities and special weapons to remain, but Just my two cents not trying to start something.

3 RepliesReally? That’s it? That’s what’s holding destiny back from being a good game? Lol…. So the competitive game mode is actually fun enough to keep you engaged…..but all you need in order to keep playing is a correction to the points given at the end of a match? Bro this whole game is boring. I was bored with “team deathmatch” in 2007. If you think solving that one issue will make the game mode fun, there is something wrong with your brain.

So, you're leaving then?

Destiny 2 is a pve game , you did not even try to play everything destiny has to offer . Only comp wich is just shooting other real players . Destiny has so much to offer and the only fun thing to do you say is crucible ? Nothing else ? Only crucible ? You like 3v3 ? That if someone dies he cannot respawn ? Just like search and destroy in call of duty . You like rumble ? Wich is just free-for-all in call of duty . You like control ? Wich is just domination in call of duty . And then you have crucible labs , supremacy and one game mode that changes every week like team scorched for example . In call of duty you have 20 more different game modes and warzone aswell . Why cry about pvp stuff in a pve game ? Just go play call of duty before things get nerfed in pvp and pve gets punished for it !

Bare minimum enabler

So the mode that makes them 0$? You may now -blam!- in the other

Edited by MC 077 Lasombra: 11/8/2023 3:13:36 AM
I really hope that PvP will improve and I'll buy the final shape right away if you just fix some of the things broken with comp.
You are the very reason why Bungie puts in low effort. You reward them for a game that is 95% broken except for the 5% you like. Now when you realize your mode is f2p and it’s only trials and pve that needs to be paid for, you’ll see why comp will remain broken. But hey, least you learned your lesson in time to save your money.
-
1 ReplyForever burned into my brain will be the comp match where I -won -went positive -top of my team in defeats ...and lost 37 points. After that, only ever went back into comp if I had a buddy that wanted to play it. Absolute waste of time. Trials is more fun and rewarding anyways.

Edited by amazinj2084: 11/8/2023 10:02:34 AMTo me comp and pvp is a just icing on the cake, but it's not the cake itself.
