I get why he couldn’t take guardians but why was he unable to take regular humans?
Even if he was unable to take humans directly under the traveler’s light, there must be others living outside of the city?

1 ReplyLet’s be honest, humans are kinda pathetic compared to all the other enemy races

Possibly the same reason he didnt take many of the other races he no doubt slaughtered. You don't see any Taken Ammonites, Harmony, or whatever. It's possible that Oryx may look down on weaker beings and considers them unfit to "defend their claim to existence" by his own metric.

Last I checked, the Taken War from Earth had people and missions relating to that. Perhaps he didn't want them or otherwise, but it's an unknown factor as far as I know on what happened when he tried to take guardians or people on the roads.

4 RepliesOryx showed up looking for revenge. We killed his kid, and he wanted blood. Plus its clear from the lore around Riven from the Last Wish Raid that Oryx wasn't as confident of victory as he projected. Oryx made the mistake of talking to Riven before taking her....which let her get inside his head. Oryx feared that that Guardians might be powerful enough to defeat him. We had grown powerful enough to kill his son, so the victory of the father wasn't guarenteed. So Oryx's strategy was to just come into the system and break everything. Also, you have to realize. There are no "regular" humans. All humans in the Destiny Universe have been touched by the Light. Living Humans aren't as powerful as Guardians...and don't have paracausal powers. But they still have been affected and changed by the Light.

1 ReplyThe awoken were technically humans, we all remember how powerful taken tech witches were right? So, in a round about way he did take humans, just not regular humans.

I feel like it's probably because even though they aren't Guardians, humans have the Traveller's blessing. There was something in a lore book a while back that hinted at that, but i can't remember the exact wording of it.

I doubt he was unable. Most likely just uninterested.

Edited by Emurinus: 10/30/2021 9:17:31 PMOryx never reached Earth (outside of his shades, which I do not recall havingbthe power to Take) so he wouldn't have been able to Take any humans. On top of that, we didn't really have any warriors (outside of Guardians) worth Taking anyways considering the other races in the system. He would've rather just annihilated us completely, especially since his reason for even arriving was put of revenge.

1 Replybecause human is fking weak even a thrall is bigger than a human

Not even a human can be taken unless it’s taken

Considering how many other, more adapted to combat species were in the solar sistem at the time, why would he go for humans? Sure, it affects them mentally, but do you think he cares avout winning a mental war? That's savathun's thing.

7 RepliesI don't know about you but I'd take a Taken Cabal/Fallen Captain over a Taken human any day

4 RepliesWhat could regular -blam!- humans do to us..?
