If this recent Iron Banner has done anything it has exposed that the real problems in Crucible had nothing to do with stasis.
I can confidently state having braved the waters of this weeks IB that it has been nothing short of insufferable. And I think most players on here already know where I'm going with this. The one thing that Bungie themselves stated and were originally correct in stating was that stasis was the counter to the aping and the ridiculous unchecked movement abilities plaguing it. Of course as per usual they got bullied into nerfing it into the ground by pretentious You tuber's and half a community more interested in following in lockstep with the status quo of complaining then allowing the audacity of a developer to actually...design their own game.
And where are they now that they have gotten what they wanted? Aside from the usual hypocrites that are most certainly whining about movement after whining about stasis, these people are M.I.A. They don't have to reap the woes of their absurdities and false claims because they don't have to play in the muck of true pubs with the rest of us peasants. They never had to. Ready made fireteams and great pvp players make sure of that.
Stasis was never a symptom of what plagues Crucible, it was always a remedy. I don't know how delusional someone has to be not to see this. The nerfing doctrine has exposed once again that this is nobody's game. These people call for this and call for that, but they are never responsible for the outcome, and neither is Bungie because Bungie is " Just listening.''. So who gets left holding the bag of this dying husk of a game, we do. The players that spent in excess of seventy dollars to basically play with an overhyped, overmarketed subclass now see once again, their investment go in the toilet because the same you tubers crying for innovation are the same ones lamenting it when it happens.
And so here we are once again, most players secretly thinking that they would happily take being frozen over this '' Shogun Olympics.'' any day of the week. No new maps, maps catering to the real insta win buttons. ( I find the idea of stasis being an insta button, brainless, win key absolutely hilarious given what the state of Crucible was and is now. I mean seriously?) Horrid matchmaking, a stale weapon meta, ( Yes somehow players are still using Felwinters and Gnawing hunger.) Movement that is once again unchecked, well, at least until Bungie engineers a half second cooldown on movement because we all know that half second is going to make all the difference.
So the powers that be, ( Not Bungie.) have once again decreed that this game be turned into some kind of micromanaged stat generator that has the player endlessly digest and employ the minute of digits, meters, and ability cooldowns rather hen just you know...Actually have fun playing the game. You want to know the truth, I'll tell you. Players were having fun using stasis, players liked stasis. But fun and an even playing field are not allowed in Destiny. If six years of playing this game has taught us anything, it's that.

1 ReplyAs a strictly through and through gunslinger I can say that I never did use stasis in PvP but I will say that I'm happy with the changes. I'm seeing other subclasses get used now. I saw along with some stasis, solar, arc, and void being used. I honestly loved it when I got killed by another gunslinger or when I saw a purple dome pop up on the map. For once the usage was balanced.

Stasis was a problem but it wasnt the only problem

I really disagree, Stasis was severely over powered! The crucible in any of its forms is much better with Stasis toned down. You're ability to move out of shotguns harm is still just as before, and if you're claiming they are moving up on you too fast... you can move equally as fast in another direction away. Stasis still works from what I've seen, just not as oppressive.

3 RepliesLikes now at an even lower negative value. PvP has MANY issues but Stasis was the worst. It's actually back to playable. Now to do a real shotgun nerf and rename the Riiswalker either a HC or sniper as it surely can't be a shotty with the range I have been killed at by it.

5 RepliesSome of your replies to comments in here don't exactly shine the greatest light on you. You have stated your opinion, obviously a very unpopular opinion. Yet you keep pushing against every single person, that your opinion is facts and they are wrong. Many, many people were calling for Stasis nerfs, it wasn't just a select few that you are talking about. The people got what the people asked for, it really is that simple. We are back to shotgun spamming, and it's annoying as hell, but there is the potential to outplay the ape. You aren't outplaying being frozen. There is potential to outplay the freezer, sure, but the ability spam was everywhere and stasis was much too potent. The point in the first person shooter, especially a fast paced one, where the user has no control over actions taken for a long duration. That just doesn't belong. Stasis was certainly not a "remedy" to the problems that we have. You don't put a dirty band aid on a large open wound.

terrible take and hidden stats. nothing to see here people. move along.

Stasis was absolutely garbage, shotguns may be as well but all that means is they need to go back to the nerfing block. Shotguns being busted does not mean we should also have stasis be broken

You’re just wrong

Edited by WulfPak666: 6/15/2021 8:50:55 PMTried Iron Banner for a bit. Got tired of watching nothing but shotgun kills in the feed while trying to do the Quest. So I just slapped on Anteus Wards and Chappy. Hated myself afterwards, but I didn't finish the quest. On the bright side, green ammo drops like day old Halloween candy so I had tons of shotgun bullets. :)

Eh to add to this, this stasis nerf only encouraged the PvP nerf herders to cry for more nerfs though these stasis nerf mostly happened due to the fact that this issue bleed to YouTuber and Twitch streamers.

1 ReplyPVPers will always find something to cry about.

45 RepliesStasis was released OP on purpose as a good selling point for beyond light, now its been out a while stasis is being reigned in. Specials have always been strong and they should be, but we shouldnt spawn with special ammo and scavengers should be disabled for pvp. Special ammo should be awarded on primary kills and that would reduce the overuse of them. Iron Banners Hunt mechanic is another issue, I understand why it exists (to try get players to cap zones) but the hunt lockdown mechanic is poor and lasts too long imo. Imo a better mechanic would be for it to reward an instant 20 points if all 3 zones are capped then all are refreshed. This would further enfoce the capping of zones while not slowing gameplay like the hunt mechanic does.

1 ReplySpeaking as a scrublord who tried IB this weekend to finish off that seasonal challenge (and oh, how painful it was as bad as I am) I got to say that Stasis might have been a huge problem, but good god, I don't see how anyone enjoys Crucible without it. I died a lot, and I am willing to bet 60% of those deaths were to Igneous Hammer and the other 40% was split between Riiswalker and Felwinter's Lie. If stasis was a problem-and I can't say, I didn't PVP pre-nerfs with it-then fine, they solved it. Now get to work on making crucible remotely fun, because getting mapped at scout rifle range by a handcannon isn't -blam!-ing fun.

Sorry gramps, I need to get you back to the mentally challenged seniors home.

5 RepliesI disagree heavily. I didn’t think it was that big of a problem before these recent nerfs but I have a feeling Bungie will be giving it some random buffs here and there. To me it’s not that big of a deal and honestly, people always complain about Iron Banner. Crucible isn’t as bad as people make it out to be.

1 ReplyYou must not be good at the game if you genuinely believe this

3 RepliesI'll never understand story long posts, Jesus Christmas kiddos

10 RepliesI wouldn't say "nothing" wrong with stasis but I would tend to agree that the grand majority exaggerated just how bad it was. But it's whatever cos you can still use them if you want it's just not an ability spam class anymore
-
1 ReplyIll agree that the freezing stopped the insane amount of shotgunning. I dont know what else to say because it was so long of a read i stopped reading it. Make it shorter next time

I think Stasis was OP at first. That being said, our choice seems to to be deal with stasis freezing, or deal with the horrible shotgun meta. We get such great choices. Yay. 😑 I’ve concluded that this game’s PvP will always be a horrible, unbalanced mess, and a joke. They’ve had years now. It’s not getting fixed. It’s not getting balanced. It’ll just move from one rigid meta to the next. Over and over again while it continues to be annoying to most of the fan base to have to deal with.
-
10 RepliesI’d rather die to guns than abilities any day. If you aren’t bad and know how to out-move a shotty you can just counter shotty.
