What I mean by that is would you tip a server that isn’t a human but rather a robot the same way you would normally tip a human being, assuming the robot is humanoid and has a human voice. Edit: they are sentient too and have human coworkers.

1 ReplyLoL Do you leave tips for the Vending Machines? They’ve been around for decades.
-
I don't say thank you and have a nice day to a self checkout machine, so probably not.
-
No, Because tipping in my country is considered rude. People get paid a fare wage here. And tipping is considered as giving charity to the poor, and undermining a person's job.
-
I might lubricate their joints but nothing more.
-
I can give em a little organic lubricant, would that work?

A robot can never be truly sentient. It cannot have a soul, and is more akin to an animal. Of course, when you play Detroit: Become Human you tend to forget that...I couldn’t bring myself to shoot the blonde android for information, for example, even though it would have been no different than turning off a laptop.
Sorry, all out of salt.
No, I will punch a Droid. A. Because there robots B. Robots don't have feelings
-
Only because they’re sentient.
-
3 RepliesI don’t tip generally, so...

Robots don't have feelings.

Imo tips are an "experience pay" for really good service, so it would need to be a really good robot to be over average. Also depends on if the place has a shared tip system where the Chefs also get a cut.
-
i tip them just as much as i tip humans
-
3 RepliesOf course. Even if it’s not sentient, it still probably needs upkeep, and maintenance. If it is sentient, leaving a tip is just the nice thing to do. In either case, if it performs its job correctly, then of course it deserves a tip!
-
Does the robot have use for money If so, yes If not, no.
-
Yes, because once the robots get full artificial intelligence, I’d rather they like me
-
Yes, if they are sentient then they have wants and needs. Money is needed for those. They need an income to live, just like humans.
-
Are they sapient? Do they need tips? If yes to both, yes. Otherwise no.
-
I would not tip a robot server because robots don't really need an income. To me, the bill is paying the business for your meal, while the tip is paying the server for personally seeing to your needs. Thay's why, imo, people should pay tips even if the service is less than ideal (Although, if the service is absolutely atrocious, then maybe no tip would be necessary). I'm assuming the robot is owned by the business, so whatever maintenance or parts it needs will be supplied (or not) by the company. So, if i'm already paying the company for paying for the food, i don't need to also pay a tip, which would just go towards paying the company anyway by proxy. If the company's robot it is disrepair, that's on the company for choosing not to take care of it or overestimating their budget for a robot.

3 RepliesNo. In the same way I won't serve the self-serve checkout. Either way, I'm probably not eating at a place that would rather commission a robot than employ a human being.
-
Absolutely not. I would like my waiter to be human so I can have a smidgen of social interaction.
