Not to mention it’s better suited for penetrating material. If some feds hit up my house with the intent of violating my rights, I’d prefer 5.56. Now 7.62 has phenomenal stopping power, but you have less magazine capacity as well. Also, the way in which the rounds were designed to inflict damage is important. 5.56 is meant to fragment whereas (correct me if I’m wrong) the 7.62 has more stopping power because it collapses on itself when it hits the target.

.376 steyer is definitely a favourite of mine, as for these rounds I’d say 7.62.

9x18. Is like a pissed off .380. Of these? In what situation? Probably 7.62. Mostly because 9x18 Makarov + AK derivative. But also because I have some doubts about 5.56 given my environment. Lots of cover. That extra punch in my opinion outweighs the benefits of 5.56.

Edited by WreckinBawl: 9/18/2020 1:07:13 AM7.62x39mm/7.62 Soviet or 7.62x51mm/7.62 NATO? Personally, I'd opt for 6.5mm Grendel instead of 5.56 NATO as it's a nice compromise between the two NATO rounds. I'd loved to have said .338 Lapua, but it's impractical for anything other than distance work, not to mention a little spendy.
