"problematic weapons" typically start at exotics, which abandoning will cause fires.
Recluse... Revoker...Mountaintop... you really want to defend that position at this point and time???? Remember D1 Y1? It was fatebringer and black spindle that were just as problematic as G-Horn. Those were legendary, bro.
Destiny has only sunsetted for a year at best (OUT OF 6), you can't rationally make such a statement like:
I mean I can... its just you have had to have done it all of D1 Y1. Dark Below you weren't taking your old VoG weapons into Crota Hard mode were you? Or TTK, did you use your Black Hammer in King's Fall? That was sunsetting weapons dingus. They didn't call it that, but that's what it was. D2 they tried to not sunset, but then the loot sucked. They add some good loot, but then you had power creep were everyone was like "if its not better than why should I care?" You sunset you can have that powerful gear because then if its problematic, it only lasts for X amount of time and you can balance the end game to make those weapons weaker. You have a big list of possible quirky weapons that people are begging for more weapons like them during thier hayday and you can't do both. You pick one or the other. That's it. You want to keep your weapons? Cool, then they will be weak because they have to last the whole game its out with continue reliance on ritual weapons over pinnacle weapons.

 • Recluse got nerfed, Revoker's a freaking sniper that's about missing and like Mountaintop, isn't even physically more powerful. Fatebringer realistically wasn't even broken, just a strong version of firefly(or what should still be) + outlaw + arc damage. Not even denying the past, as ditching triple elements allowed for what D2 brought us with energy primaries and kinetic specials. Black Hammer/Spindle got nerfed. Ghallarjorn got nerfed These problems were resolved by a balance patch that didn't kill the weapons. Both were still amazing come Rise of Iron. Similar situation with Izanagi, it doesn't need bonus reload speed to honed edge to still be a powerhouse, I know because that's the only way I've ever used it. TTK onward didn't force abandonment of anything good that came out during it, nothing was forcibly weak. The power creep argument is the player consequence of only caring for the best, which that sick self-shooting parisite is what is pushing Bungie so people try new things by force. Nothing about that promises that anything new will be "better". And for it to be better, then it would have to be better than what's being left behind, making the reason for forcing people to change completely pointless. Congrats on the contradiction. This concept fails for Destiny considering what Destiny is, also because Bungie simply cannot output enough to make it work. I cannot trust them to remake an Arc-Quickfang, thinking I could trust them to make anything cost me a solar version of it and Crown-splitter. How can you expect them to replace entire archetypes that get wiped from the relevant pool of weapons? When MT and Millita go, that means no more Kinetic grenade launchers. Builds around those weapons are screwed.

THEY COOOMPLAINED HARRRD! "Don't nerf, buff!" You all say, well they can't do that and keep the game to at least have some kind of semblance of a challenge and keep doing that. ALA Power creep. You want Destiny 2 to become like Borderlands 3 where the game is imploding due to power creep of new weapons? Where the game is basically over when you get one weapon and then not care about anything else until new content releases where your gun is basically nerfed for the sake just to use other weapons that break the game further? If so, you need to go play a different franchise, that's not the goal of Destiny. The goal is trying strike some sort of a balance, granted its been a bad balance of the game being at its core too easy, but at least it tries.

 • You're assuming I'm apart of the mindless power creep crowd when I'm not. I wanted to see Recluse made into an exotic to justify its power. A different solution for once.

 • That would litteraly not even make much of a difference. You would still run recluse/mountaintop with a direct impact grenade launcher. Litteraly wouldn't solve the problem when people weren't even using exotics sometimes in end game.
