PLAYER INVESTMENT ISSUES
To start with being the subject I'm most adamant on, rewarding player investment. Trials of the Nine, Factions armor, old Iron Banner armor, as well as Y1 weapons currently can't make use of 2.0 mods or be pulled from collections with 2.0 mod slots.
For a time I figured that fact must play into your grind philosophy and that they'd be released to be earned at a later date in 2.0 values. Then I noticed that there is armor you can pull at 2.0. The blue gear and may I add are all actually on par with the Sostice of Heroes armor I grinded for as well. I'm still happy I did get my Solstice gear, but I'm sure anyone can understand how that's insulting to a player.
As for the, Y1 weapons that are still modless. Weapons are weapons, to depreciate our loot and then reigning in a new system that relies soley on mods takes away from the experience especially being that for some of this now depreciated loot you literally have to pay money to make them accessible.
NERFS
Coming down to the latest I see you're now nerfing Swords. SWORDS BUNGIE? They only now seemed like a decent option to play around with, and not even even as a top tier option. Just for fun and you're hitting their heavy attack, their DPS options in favor of making a defensive heavy.
I don't think I need to go too far into this because I did the same for Machine guns when they caught a nerf and literally nothing changed. I'm tired of the power creep fear mongering
DONE
So with that I'm done with destiny until all of this gets addressed. Even for simple requests like having sparrows on Mercury to you 2 whole years to finally accomplish, and tbh I don't think I can look at this trash another day.
Any Guardians out there feeling the same I implore you to follow suit. Bungie seems to at least listen when player numbers drop
Edit:
Since it seem many of you haven't actually read the patch notes, allow me to indulge you.
The supposed Nerf I mention is Bungie's choice to make the Heavy attack consume this new "energy" you'll be needing to block and the less "energy" you have the less damage your heavy attack will do.
In my own personal experience, making and item do less that functioned properly before is a nerf. I've saved you all the big read, enjoy and bless

1 ReplyEdited by xbroggiex: 2/10/2020 7:42:25 PMTbh Bungie re-working swords shows their waste of resources and continued constant bad game design decisions. Swords really didn't need a rework, you know what does? LITERALLY EVERY OTHER ASPECT OF THE GAME!

the best way to communicate with a company is to stop buying their product, plain & simple

5 RepliesThey can't just pull the code for a Y1 gun, type "add_code = random_weapon_perks" and suddenly The Marine is back in the game with random rolls. They need to pick the perks for it, code each one in individually, stress-test it to prevent server issues, code it into the world drop loot pool (or somewhere else), and make other changes to bring it to Y3 standards. Same goes with armor. It takes time, and while more weapons will return, they can't all return instantly. As for swords? Maybe wait and see how they work after this change? Bungie is attempting to make them more viable, not nerf them
-
18 RepliesMaking it harder to World-Line skate isn't a nerf. Everything else about the sword changes sounds like it'll make them a lot more entertaining to use as swords.

Sword changes are huge nerfs. I agree with OP. If I need energy for my weapon to do max dps then I already know it’s going to be bad

1 ReplyDude, where have you been??? For the past 3-4 months these forums have been awash with cries for Bungo to NERF swords, mainly due to the fact that they are massively overused, can OHK every boss, twice, have tracking and cause hairs to grow on a woman's chest!! I'm just glad that, out of all of the things wrong with this game right now, they choose to prioritise their resources and fix this MASSIVE problem.....
satire in case you're stupid
16 RepliesImagine writing a whole book about a non-existent nerf... you must feel dumb

3 RepliesEdited by an Ape with a d2 addiction: 2/10/2020 1:03:35 PMI'd hold judgement on swords before seeing the post-patch damage numbers and how the new mechanics function. Bungo knows how much swords do DPS. The tone in the patch notes looked more towards being set to overhaul them into having more versatile utility, not nerfing their DPS output. If heavy attacks become less spammable, they could do more damage. Light attacks also will become more spammable with animation loops. They could also have damage changes in either direction. Bottom line, we don't know yet how they're actually changing the DPS if at all. Doomsaying without facts has little value. Now if it actually ends up as a DPS nerf post-fact I'll man the barricades with you. Before that gonna save that energy for other stuff.

Umm.... You do realize they are buffing swords for anyone who isn’t a speed runner and basically using them as a movement mechanic??
-
The only way this happens is if a mass amount of the community goes on strike. This is online only. Player numbers are deathly important to them. If a large enough portion of the players all take a hike for a few weeks or a season, you may just see some very convenient changes.

7 RepliesEdited by TJ_Dot: 2/10/2020 12:41:21 AMWay too early to act like Swords are being murdered. I for one am actually curious.

1 ReplyRegarding swords, is the energy only for heavy attack and blocking? You can block as long as you also have 1 ammo? Ammo is then only used for light attacks? Isn’t the speed of the light attack going to be much faster? So you could start with a few heavy attacks then spam light attack until the energy recharges, then repeat. Hopefully Bungie release a video soon to clear it up. It might end up being more powerful.
-
Everything you are saying is true. I wish bungie would listen
-
2 RepliesI believe you misread an entire twab sir~

11 RepliesThere are no definitive numbers to accurately assess the proposed changes. The change isn't even arriving until next season. It is too early to be crying wolf.
-
5 RepliesI don't think people quite understand that swords aren't getting nerfed. They're getting reworked. I actually can't wait to give them a go. Especially paired with strongholds.
-
As long as streamers/you tubers feedback is more important than the other 97% of us nothing will change. Hence the super special only summits they host
-
51 RepliesSwords are getting buffed are you good? Guarding now doesn’t use ammo and takes energy from a self replenishing source? Heavy attacks have more damage potential. Stop trolling lol
-
8 RepliesPlease reread their retake on swords.... they are buffing them.

3 RepliesIs bungie nerfing swords? Is it cause of last wish cheese?

13 RepliesEdited by Riven’s No.1 Cookie Baker: 2/10/2020 4:09:41 PMActivision fired all Bungie’s good people, and messed everything up Now Bungie is trying to fix it but it’s hard. Cut them a little slack.
i do think Bungie should listen to the community

edit: okay okay I get it everyone hates bungie now stop.
No. No. No. You just need to shut up and sit down and buy some Silver and attempt to get every single item from the Eververse shop. Stop Whining.
-
8 RepliesExcuse you? They buffed swords. You no longer require ammo for blocking.
-
1 ReplyCan you provide the sword damage numbers both before and after the change to democrats how much of a nerf it is, please?
-
12 RepliesTrue that! I know the Wish-Ender was strong but not everyone used it! After this patch there isen't a soul who uses it! If that is the focus of the so called fixes then yeah.....

3 RepliesMy biggest issue with gaming in general, is player investment. All the time I spent playing other games that I won't even play again. How the -blam!- am I supposed to keep living knowing all this stuff I grinded for in destiny is going away. Not only this seasons stuff, but when the game shuts down. You mean to tell me all my thousand of hours played is going to mean nothing in a few years? Fuuuuck you bungie. You money hungry hippos.
