Firstly, I completely agree that there should be some form of SBMM. But the current setup is just stupid. I’ll wait 10 minutes for a match to start, and when I do get a match I’m paired with 6 guys from Korea. I’m literally pre-shooting corners because of the hit detection delay.
Come on Bungie.

Where’s the lore for this?

Sucks to suck

17 RepliesIf people wanted CBMM they would play classic mix.

1 Reply% Why is this in lore?%

It's pretty simple, SBMM would be golden with dedicated servers, P2P HAS to prioritize connection or else skill level is secondary to proximity to the host as soon as you're out of the potato tier with fools standing around in lanes while ADSing...

You’re gonna sweat no matter what may as well be with your shots doing actual damage

6 RepliesHere’s the fix: corral all of the players with a kda equal to or less than 1.0 into the kiddy pool, and let them drool all over each other while they bore each other to death. Everyone with thumbs capable of a kda greater than 1.0 can actually have a skill ceiling to the game and notice when they make improvements.

You should always be pre-shooting corners anyway. Who knows what can come from behing that corner? Better safe than sorry. 😁

3 RepliesJust play Classic Mix? Oh right, you guys dont because than you get stomped by players way better than you. Everyone asking for CBMM wants to farm Noobs, thats 100% true and everyone trying to talk around it lies. SBMM protects Noobs and Casuals from Tryhard Nerds that want to feel great by farming those weaker players, always was and always will. the only problem with SBMM right now is getting matches with people from other Areas, all Bungie needs to do is set a Ping filter so that you cant match against players with a higher ping than 100.

2 RepliesGet good at the game kid.

1 ReplyGive players a reason to keep playing PVP. They removed the only significant rewards in pinnical weapons and never replaced them. You get nothing for ranking up and resetting... so the population dropped. Its not SBMM that's the problem. Bungie absolutely must provide incentives to keep the population up. You think ppl would play Trials if it had no rewards? They didn't at D2 launch.

Agree. Also i do not understand where is the equal skill in getting paired with 2 player even worse than me...and thats hard😂 against 3 players wirh unbroken title in comp.
-
6 RepliesNothing wrong with SBMM and I can prove it. I play with a clan mate and he made his way to 5500 twice now. He has a K/D of 0.4. The only way that can be possible is if he's been matched to other players with the same skills or similar skills. With SBMM the way it is, even players who struggle in PvP can make it to 5500 if they work at it. Hes about to get his unbroken title come Season 10.

6 RepliesEdited by FdYAcsoyPKN83gLE: 2/3/2020 5:08:35 AMIf it’s broken, they will fix it. But if they remove it, we will back to the dark ages where the teams are COMPLETELY unbalanced for EVERY GAME. IME, I currently have no issues with it. The only people who seem to be loudly complaining about it are YouTubers who want to kill noobs more often.

7 RepliesI'm going to give an argument to remove sbmm, based on recent experience. SBMM should be a good thing in the game, you improve with equal or better difficulty opponents, you learn to adapt to play styles, maps, weapons. However the population has been diluted, especially around mid to lower top tier players and there's a reason for that. How many times have you matched up with folk with 10/20+ glory win streak emblems as if it's a badge of honour? But....the players with them are not the players that achieved those streaks, they got carried, all those folk that got carried for luna, NF, Revoker, mountaintop ect...their ELO has been drastically boosted by the person that carried them, and now we've got a skill level pool that's overfilled with players clearly not at that level and it's ruining comp. You've got unbalanced teams with maybe 3 genuinely good players or at leadt players that know how to play, with 3 more that are clueless, the ones that are rushing in, getting themselves wrecked over and over. So while SBMM should be a good thing and no doubt for top tier players it's working, but for mid range folk that are trying to improve, it's currently broken because of all these idiots that got carries or recoveries.

What I want is to be playing people with good connections, with similar skill. There really is no need to be one or the other.. Let the potatoe internet players play against each other and then base it on skill and do the same for me. I never want to play someone from the caves of Afghanistan using dial up internet who seemingly is a god at the game.. let them play others with the same poor connections. There can't be so few players that play this game that the pool can't be broken up into both connection and skill.

Edited by Sl33py D33r: 2/3/2020 3:16:57 PM[quote]It was late afternoon, the sun was slowly settling and the bright pink of the skyline shone through the annex, the quiet sounds of the crucible match echoes around the Drifters little hidey hole. the man rubs his beard with one hand, the other flipping his emerald coin each time a guardian tried to rush behind some cover from a hail of gunfire, each time the coin lands a guardian drops dead as if a bullet frozen in time became unstuck and finished them off, bored of the monotony he decides to take a quick peak at the setting sun, walking to the landing pad he kicks the back of his coat up and sits his legs over the edge of the metal edge grate, munching on some leftover dawning chocolate as he watches the sky change to a dark orange. Several minutes later whistling fills the halls as the Drifter now in a somewhat better mood heads back to his hideaway, stopping suddenly when he sees a large shadow blocking most of the deep green light that was normally cast onto the tiled flooring, fingers gently brushing against the handle of his cannon before calling out "Alright...Drifters feelin' generous today, so why don't ya clear out befo-" he starts before a familiar voice cut him off "why do they die when they should be safe?" Drifter slowly lowered his hand and walked into view of the emissary, her head fixed in the direction of the monitors. Drifter walked into the room slowly and took a look at what she was watching, he'd been so bored with it he'd completely forgot to turn off the crucible match before he left "heh, no one knows sister! Old shaxx claims it's part of some programme to push guardian's to challange themselves, don't really see how...could ask 'im while you're here" he says as he leans back against the bars, he could stand a bit more of this boring game he supposed. 10 RepliesDoes SBMM even work though? I mean, in freelance competitive I’m consistently being out against 5500 glory LH/NF sweat lords when I’m a below average, haven’t even broken 2100 this season (easiest of all) barely positive K/D ratio because I don’t really PvP aside from my matches for the powerful drop
-
I don’t get why I’m matching players who are not in my skill level and throwing games
-
Ah yes, very interesting lore.
-
Or bungie could get regional/dedicated servers. Bungie nor destiny has servers. It’s a pier to pier connection game.

I choose fix. If they remove it, I'm done with crucible for good.

2 RepliesSBMM isn't even working half the time. I know for a fact I've faced people in comp that certainly had no business being in that match. And I also know for a fact I faced teams I had no business matching. My first PvP grind this season put me against players who hadn't left comp in months. Literally played all day, every day, with the same team, for months straight. Meanwhile, I play PvP every few weeks. Same for QP and especially IB. There's a reason I haven't been playing PvP at all.
