I’m not saying that it can’t be done, or that is tremendously difficult. I’m saying playing bounties in an attempt to max out your artifact is not something I consider fun. Heck, to be honest, why even play the game? For less than a hundred bucks, I’ll be able to buy my artifact at max level, and if I wanted I would never have to fire a round in that season. That makes no sense to me!
Bottom line, for me, there is nothing to chase (activities, gear or triumphs) that would value my time and actually encourage me to play. I play for the fun of the annual dlc, that’s it. And that’s becoming less and less. And if the rumors are true that Bungie is still struggling with content development and delivery, and that it is possible we won’t have an annual large dlc drop this fall, then the game, by design, has just eliminated me.
Why play? For 10 power levels that will be nudged right back up in a handful of weeks, thus making your grind start immediately back and the previous one instantly made moot? For an artifact and it’s gear?
Nah, it’s not me. I’m not burnt out, I love the core of this game. The first time I’ve logged in was a few days ago, after two months of being away, and was instantly reminded of the uselessness of actually trying to raise power level. Seriously? We’re chasing soft caps, hard caps, artifact levels? For what? Because it gives us something to do?
I’ll try some more, but it just seems useless, I sit there asking myself: “Self, why are you voluntarily doing this” bc in just a handful or two of weeks, you’re just doing it again.
Nah, I’ll just go back to ffxiv, at least in that game, content is expanded on, not deleted and there are always reasons to upgrade your light level.
Effectively, D2 == Goat Simulator.

I can agree with you on some things and disagree with you on others. My opinion is that I won't give up on the game till I've beaten every piece of content at least once.
