It is somewhat ridiculous to only receive this warning once you fly into the tower to discover that you've been overflowing for God knows how long. Last night after running a couple nightmare hunts, a moon vex event and an altar of sorrows, I flew to the tower, was told my postmaster was full (way too late), and realized I had lost all the stuff sitting in there from before and numerous other items.
I lost all the excess item stacks such as vex components, black armory items, and phantasmal fragments. For all I know I probably lost an exotic and maybe some high level pieces I needed or God roll weapons.
The postmaster was filled with 3 fresh rows of blues and a few legendaries, and had pushed out everything else. This is crappy.
Please give us a warning when we actually need it. Not when it's way too late.
Edit: Also, blues should get pushed out first, then legendaries or consumables, then exotics. Or some sort of similar system. To lose your potentially good stuff just to get a bunch of blues is maddening.
Tl;dr: "Postmaster is full" only gives you warning when you finally fly back to tower to check if it is full. It never warns you beforehand.
It's currently more of a "hey btw, you got screwed the past couple hours, just to let you know."
Tldr2: Perhaps have something pop up "postmaster is full" in the same manner in which "level up" pops up in game. Just less extravagant. Simple and effective.
Obligatory edit to mention that the highly requested "auto dismantle blues" option would save a ton of postmaster space to begin with.
Still, I'm having fun with Shadowkeep 😎
Final edit: I know how the apps work. This would just be a simple QoL fix. To be upset about this suggestion is a ridiculous waste of energy. I initially made a post just to vent but I'm glad it struck a chord with many other veterans of the game who agree with the post. Good day to all.
Thanks to Bungie for replying.

53 RepliesI have brought this up to the team and will let them know this is still something the community would like to see changed. The reason we didn't want to show this while in activities is we thought it would get pretty annoying as you probably still want to finish what you are doing first. Let us know what you think about changing to show in activity or in orbit. Thanks!

15 RepliesAt this point since there is really no point going to the tower, Bungie should just add it to the directory. Problem solved...
-
16 RepliesThere were some problem spaces the team was looming at in terms of the warning spamming you in orbit, in game, etc. I’ll follow up to see where they’re at.
-
Aye, sounds like a good idea.
-
mmm, mm... so, so what if before every activity a small notice pops up with how many items are currently at your postmaster (out of 20), and if it's zero, there is no pop up o_O
-
i'd also like to auto-complete strikes. and how about a warning when bounties are gonna expire. and can you just auto-mod my gear? putting in effort is hard.
-
2 RepliesOn OG ps4, it takes 20 mins to fly to the tower, clear out postmaster, then start another activity. Why not add postmaster to the directory like eververse?

1 ReplyONE RUN OF ALTARS WILL FILL MY POSTMASTER!!! So go there before I run Altars and then go back after, what a fricken waste of time which pisses me off! Yes, yes, I know I can check with the app BUT I rarely have my phone or tablet near by when I casual play. Nor should I need it, if I do, thats bad design (spelled an excuse for oh yeah 'BAD design')

2 RepliesOr give ability to view postmaster like you can the store from menu screen. Even better would be ability to delete or retrieve from menu like items you can purchase from store in menu. I guess what im saying is you can add the store screen to make purchases so i assume you can add postmaster just as easy

THIS!!! VERY VERY THIS!!! especially whilst running Vex Offensive. It drops enuff loot to lock you up after jus 1 run.

1 ReplyEdited by Whopping Dingers: 11/13/2019 3:12:26 PMGiven you can access eververse engrams from the director...maybe they could do the same with postmaster items? I'm probably missing something... Edit: It could literally be a tab called "Lost items". The post master can be more of an official delivery NPC for messages, information, destiny rewards, special emblems.

1 ReplyI rented a storage unit on the moon and I have a Tower intern manage it for me. There might be some units available if you want me to ask the manager.
-
Even destiny 1 is better... when you hover over the tower it tells you how much is in the post office.
-
6 RepliesSo you’d rather not do the effort of using Bungie’s app in exchange for lesser content? Are you promoting Bungie’s next seasonal content, i.e. season of the lost watermarks?
-
2 RepliesHow about a post master for the post master ... only 2,000 silver.
-
11 Repliestook me 2 minutes to load into the tower. took me 20 seconds to delete my postmaster inventory. 😐 if you don't have 2 minutes to spare you should not be playing video games.
-
Download DIM (Destiny Item Manager), as this will save you plenty of time returning to the tower or farm for inventory management.
-
7 RepliesUm, its your fault.
-
12 RepliesWhat is ridiculous is the fact all you had to do was go to the tower, spend a few moments and delete stuff out of the post master.
-
8 RepliesItem management is key in every RPG. Learn it and you’ll never have this problem.
-
10 RepliesEdited by Guardian5561: 11/11/2019 9:49:54 PMI nearly lost an exotic engram from the haunted forest cause postmaster was full of trash blues. What are you supposed to do when you are in a certain activity for a long time?
-
20 RepliesThis is one of those things in destiny that's so basic and such an obvious feature it's mind boggling why it doesn't already exist.
-
I fully agree with the OP as I lost nearly my entire set of 2.0 revelry gear that was sitting in the Postmaster. It's just stupid that the postmaster has such a small limit and same goes for the vault. Does Bungie not realize their own game is a COLLECTION game? With that being said, some people may not know that DIM has what's called "FARMING MODE" and if you turn it on, it will send items to the vault automatically so you can always pick your stuff up off the floor. Of course it's a nightmare to go back to the vault later and clean it out... but it does prevent the problem with the postmaster filling up and then deleting your stuff. Lastly, I hate that we have to use a 3rd party app to manage this and it should have been addressed LONG AGO by Bungie!
-
3 RepliesI would prefer to be able to lock items in the PM so they are not removed for blues.. But that wont happen. They want you to visit the Tower often, especially the PM because it's right next to the evil queen...
-
Why not Postmaster bot and vault access at each location? Make the game a little bit less of a watch-your-ship-fly simulator.

i agree with needing a pop up. not going to lie, i have braytech.org open the last few nights when i play and it does a pop up across the bottom, so that reminds me to go and dismantle all the crap.
