I will concede, Garden of Salvation is definitely not friendly for people who have no Raid experience at all, something like Eater of Worlds or Scourge of the Past would be much more appropriate in terms of both difficulty and length. Next up would be Leviathan, followed by Spire of Stars and Crown of Sorrow. I think Last Wish is the hardest Raid in D2, but Garden of Salvation has to be quite high on that scale just for the power requirement right now
Most of the people who run the old Raids now are just doing it because they're missing a specific item, most likely the Raid Exotic, so that's why they want fast runs; they have little interest in doing every part of the Raid except for the very end, but no one really has checkpoints for them now. Because Garden is still new, the people who are doing it are desperate to get it done, especially since the offer for the unique jacket expires at reset tomorrow.
If you put yourself out there on the LFG as looking to do a Raid for the first time, you'll probably get someone who is willing to help. I'd suggest opting for Scourge of the Past, as Eater of Worlds has almost nothing to offer in terms of rewards, just some very ugly armour and a below-par Shotgun and Grenade Launcher. Scourge, on the other hand, has one of the best Shotguns in the game, a very decent Rocket Launcher, a Scout Rifle that can roll with a transformative perk unique to it and a solid Fusion Rifle that also has a unique perk.
