For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, 50 percent winrate is a theory about pvp matchmaking. In essence, the game tries to keep you at a 50 percent winrate by absurdly terribly team balancing based on who has won more matches in a row. The game will give you the absolute worst teammates and give the enemy really good teammates in an attempt to force a loss, most of the time multiple matches in a row. If you are a good player, this theory gets proven multiple times a week. It happens far too often to be a coincidence, and the research has been done, the verdict is in. Good players are -blam!-ed over EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. Fix this shit, it's unacceptable.

Looks like Bungie still hasn't come clean about this ongoing issue.

1 ReplyActually, you know what. I withdraw my previous statement. Not only is it a sweatfest, the teams are utterly unbalanced most of the time (to the tune of 90-95% certainty of winning per Destinytracker). This means that matches snowball and people quit, leaving the rest of us playing 2-3v6 sweats. Utterly asinine.

1 ReplyWhats the alternative? Not disagreeing, just wondering. People who lose all the time will just stop playing crucible. Even with 'free to play' coming (which won't really be very free), you will never have a steady supply of less skilled players to play. They have done everything possible to force all players to do all activities including pvp. The stupid peer based system makes a certain amount of local players necessary for the game to work at all.
-
5 RepliesIf I win 3 games in a row, I'll generally exit pvp and go do something else for a while, else I KNOW I'm going to get stomped for the next few games. It is very obvious. Not a good way for a game to be.
-
2 RepliesBungie is [insert insult here] if they think pvp is a playable mode on any level in this game. For low skill, it's just worse experience to begin with. These players probably play fortnite to git gud and never come back. For medium skills it's a 50/50 controlled lottery. For high skills it's boring AF so they quit. For cheaters it's a carry/recovery service shop. For fun seekers, well they just show themselves out... You need to fix this Bungie.

dude, i jumped in the night before last for some cruci after a 3 month hiatus. 3 x matches in a row, 5 v 6. first two matches enemy team was the same 5 stack with the same solo. FML.
-
Yep. I went 5 matches in a row recently and my team got spanked every time. I did well enough, but again, I'm looking around and asking "who are these idiot blueberries"?

49 RepliesSolo PvP player here, 2.24 KDA, 1.92 KD. Crucible, comp, gambit, gambit prime : i can now predict who will be in my team just by inspecting players during loading screen. Fireteam of 3 or 4 players ? Opposite team. Unbroken players ? Opposite team God roll Spare Ration/NF/Recluse ? Opposite team Players with 1.8 KDA or more ? Opposite team Lv8 player with full blue stuff ? In my team Players using bows, sidearms and swords ? In my team Wanna know my win/loss ratio in QP after 3719 games ? -blam!-ing 50%

the other team: unbroken six man with god rolled everything and wardcliff foil. my team: players using rat king and not running as a team. *uninstalls.*

2 RepliesJust ran into this problem with Gambit the other night. First game, Deep Six against a 3 stack clan. Beat them in Sudden Death. Next game, spawned in with half a team playing on Cathedral of Scars. Even after we got a full team by the second round, got swept without a single damn mote banked. Third game, Deep Six again. Proceeded to sweep enemy team again. Fourth game, Cathedral of Scars again
Seriously, -blam!- this map
. Did better than the second game but still lost 0-2. I'm not a god at this game but I'm not trash either. Yet I keep getting stuck with either very seasoned players or Kinderguardians trying Gambit for the first time, and I rarely seem to find an inbetween.

1 ReplyThis sounds like a conspiracy theory

The whole damn thing is rigged, you better go in stacked and sweaty or you're getting nowhere.
-
Glad someone said it. You look on destinytracker after a night of solo-queuing comp and it's literally a checkerboard sometimes: win one, lose one, win one, lose one, etc. The team that beat you had an +80% chance of winning based on ELO, before the match even started. No one on your team is using voice or even text team chat, and they're just running in alone and dying over and over. So you bump over to quickplay, and it's even worse with 6 stack after 6 stack getting matched against you and your solo-queue of rando's (the results often not being very pretty). If there are so many 6 stacks online bungo, why not match them with each other instead of letting these trash kids build up their egos and elitist K/Ds by regularly matching them with people who can't possibly communicate and coordinate on the same level as them? Because bungie knows that 6 stack QP stomp usually means streamers, and streamers are free advertising at the end of the day

1 ReplyIt's a shitty system but I have to admit it's actually working as intended which is a first.

9 RepliesEdited by Lost Sols: 9/11/2019 4:11:52 PMThis is complete garbage. Triplewreck played something like 14000 D1 PvP matches on just one character alone and won 74%. He was 76% for D2 Y1. Players like that are winning 85%+ in D2 Y2 QP. If you're good and play well, you still win. With skill factored, the game doesn't engineer 50% win ratios, it tries to give both teams a closer to 50/50 chance of winning going in, rather than one team having a 100% chance before the game starts. What's really going on here is players that are used to pubstomping are terrified they'll have to actually try and might lose a few games now, so here are the posts crying about how unfair Bungie is and how oppressed you are. Sorry, but nope.
-
I just don't understand why the game feels I'm like the best player in the entire lobby. Like straight up, it could be 1 team of two, me and randoms. It'll put the team of 2 and the absolute best "Unbroken" randoms on the enemy team and I'll get paired with people who are using literal garbage, vanilla blue gear, 300light etc.. Games is: "oh damn, it's PakoWulf, jeez dude. I heard that guy yolo no-scoped Jesus out of heaven and tombstone piledrived Adolf straight into devil's ass crack. The only way we could possibly challenge his skill is if we make him backpack a team of no thumbs against 6 Unbroken comp legends!!" (And I'm not even a consistent 1.5 kd dude mind you) Like what?? Could you at least have 3 good players and 3 iffy players on each team?? Like a real 50/50 balance?
-
3 RepliesI think Bungie has gone on record multiple times and said in QP there is no skill based match making in play. What is in play is team balancing where the 12 players selected are to be split into the fairest teams meaning you likely have fairly equal teams. However, as we all know this doesn’t always work and sometimes we stomp and sometimes we get stomped but a 50% win rate would be believable.
-
5 RepliesHunters need to go too
-
The theory in principle is correct, it’s the execution that’s flawed. Bungies ‘one pool fits all’ approach is a failure.
-
7 RepliesYou are 100% incorrect and just throwing a temper tantrum. 50% winrate happens naturally when you have good matchmaking and in not the goal, it’s a side effect. If you want to win more than 50% then get better until you move up a skill bracket and return to 50% winrate at the new higher bracket.

5 RepliesEvery game of PvP I play I lose. I've ranked up quickplay to legend on mostly losses. Even if I'm in the top three we still lose. It's why I don't play comp. I haven't bothered with the pinnacle sniper, but when I looked at the glory progress on it, I was a little over 1000 points. I'm at brave 2 rank with a little over 200 points and can't seem to get out of it. Doesn't matter how good I do. Can't progress so I just gave up. I don't really care though. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything. PvP pinnacle weapons are a mistake and a plague to this game. There's no reason for putting them in comp. Quickplay should've been where you get them. That'll end paid carries, account recoveries and cheating. To all haters : Go ahead, live in your delusional world. Hate me and stay brainwashed. I die a little inside when I see so many people that choose not to lift the veil of darkness blinding their eyes to the light of reality. Downvote me to reddit hell.

1 ReplyTinfoil hat theory. The idea is that if teams are balanced you will have roughly a 50% win rate.
-
1 ReplyIf you were matched into teams of equivalent skill you’d in the long run win 50% of your matches. It’s hard to see that as a bad thing.
-
4 RepliesEdited by ManBlaster: 9/9/2019 12:09:35 PMI'm seeing a lot of people claiming this is false. Its not. They mentioned it a long while back in D2Y1. its not just win streaks, its Based on win ratio + winstreak. And it does influence the matchmaking "subtly". But if you have an overall WinRatio of 60% or more and you have a winstreak of 5 currently going. EVEN if you are a kinder guardian who's wins exclusively came from playing with friends of a much higher skill don't be surprised if your next solo queue in quickplay pits you against 3 people with Unbroken and all of them are running a Not Forgotten. I'm sure there is plenty of people who don't experience this because they are in the high to mid tier and its may not regularly effect them. But this mechanic is what feeds the top tier players their relief games and the kinder-guardians their Pineapple-up-bum games. Ever load into a match where 1 team is destroying the other and people keep quiting cause they literally have no hope of making a comeback? You rage at getting loaded into these games, but these games are a symptom of this mechanic. And its why people want SBMM back, in hopes this stops happening to them. People who don't even play comp don't want to be pinned up against those teams cause its blatantly unfair matchmaking. But I'll bet you this mechanic stays in the background regardless.

3 RepliesIf you read the essay by the matchmaking lead about it he never says it forces you into a 50% win rate. Actually it says nothing about winrate, it says that it tries to match you up against people where each team has a 50% chance to win on paper. Why would bungie care if you have a 55% win rate? Or a 60% if you have a god tier team? Why would they care?
