With the weather finally starting to turn, and not suck, I've been itching to get my grill out and start in with making succulent, grilled meats again.
So seeing so many of you have a fascination with grills all the time, I thought it would be appropriate to see what type of grill you all seem to like to have your foods grilled on.
And yes, I know you are talking about girls
I'm sure most of you are familiar with 1, 2, and 4, but the Green Egg is a porcelain, charcoal grill that helps seal in moisture, unlike your standard Weber or pot style charcoal grill.

and for comparison

A Wood Pellet grill, like the Traeger and several other brands out now use a nifty system of differing species of wood pellets for different aromas and flavors, but require to be plugged in to keep the wood pellets fed into the burner.

6 RepliesI own two grills, a propane and an offset smoker/charcoal grill. The propane is probably 10 years old and needs to be replaced, and the offset was a gift from my wife that she bought pretty cheap because she knew I wanted to start smoking. I'm looking to replace both this year. Even though I live in new Jersey and winters can sometimes bring some bad weather, I grill year round. The only time I refuse to grill is when snow is actually covering my grill. That being said, I still need to have a propane grill for the convenience. I have two kids that are involved on multiple sports and dinners usually have to be made quickly and waiting for charcoal is not possible. I still want a smoker as well, because I still want to smoke on the few occasions I have the time to do so. I had looked at a green egg style grill, but the amount to purchase the grill and the kit that could convert it to a propane grill was just a little too much for me to consider. What I have settled on is a combo propane/offset smoker. I'm looking forward to buying it for myself for Father's Day.

2 RepliesHere's a grill tip you need: CLEAN YOUR GRILL GRATES! Seriously, I can't emphasize enough how much of a difference this makes. Also, Charcoal is harder to use well consistently, but Gas is more expensive, but more consistent.

1 ReplyI have been eating alot of the smoked foods my boss makes at home... and in comparison to what I do on my grill I think smoking is the way I'm gonna go in the future. I like my Gas Weber but with only 2 burners it is limited.

Since I’m basing this purely off taste, probably 2 and 4.

Edited by RollTide2235: 3/28/2019 1:15:05 AMIf I had to pick only one, it would be a charcoal grill. I use lump charcoal. But I LOVE my combo gas/charcoal grill. It’s a char-griller. I normally grill 2-3 times a week year round so if im late getting in for work, i use my gas half of the grill which is quick and convenient but if I have time and not rushed, I use charcoal. Edit: The green egg is super duper nice but almost all the people I know that own one (around 4-5 ppl) use theirs mainly for smoking and not grilling in particular.

I have an off set stick burner and a Webber, that being said campfires are pretty baddass ...

Edited by RandyDaGod: 3/28/2019 12:03:55 AMI don't think there is necessarily a "best"... That being said propane is my least favorite to cook on. It's great for simplicity and if I just want something grilled quick. Wood smoker is my favorite way of cooking. Have friends that use the Green egg and treagers but I prefer an off set smoker. If I want to do charcoal grilling I can just use the main compartment. If I want to cold smoke I can fix a tube to the chimney and it run it to another box. It's also fun trying to keep temp. No better excuse than to sit around and drink beer all day because you have to watch the smoker. The electric pellet smokers or treagers are nice for simplicity as well tho. They give good flavor but I don't feel like they put a good enough char on the outside. In conclusion tho I would say any kind of grilling is alright with me.

I have a 6 burner propane grill. A Weber Smokey mountain 22 (bullet style smoker). Charcoal And an Oklahoma Joe's offset smoker. Word burner Out of all three I don't notice a difference or have a preference on which to use.
