Edit: I feel the need to clarify why I made this post I made it originally see if the sunbreakers were really extinct and came out with probably but not conclusively but the more interesting question I found was who is the 1st magistrate here is my analysis of different sources and my conclusions. Are the sunbreakers extinct? And who is the first empyreal magistrate? A: what is the sunbreaker lore tab: I think it is clearly saying that the sunbreakers sere present at the great disaster; the great disaster is where guardians tried to take the moon but were defeated by Croat and many were killed. B: the ashen wake lore tab: this is just Ouros and aodh talking. C: hallowfire heart lore tab: this is clearly implying that the sunbreakers are gone but I don’t know, she says the order falls but not that it is extinct. I also believe that when she says that they had the fire because there was no other way, I propose this may be due to the fact that other guardians have started being sunbreakers therefore the sunbreaker order is no longer needed. D: the sun shot lore tab: liu feng I believe is another lore guardian that transcends classes as it appears they forged warlock gauntlets to use but also wields the hammer of sol, this also reinforces the idea that more in the city are becoming sunbreakers E: the sunbreaker grimoire card: the most important thing here is that the hammer of sol is legend both past and future: after thinking about it I think it may be referring to the first empyreal magistrate of the sunbreakers which we still don’t know the identity of further more we never hear them referenced. I believe that this may mean the first empyreal magistrate is from the future and either goes back in time to start the order or revive the fallen order by finding all the remaining sunbreakers if there are any and training knew ones the sunbreaker may have seen their doom if they are really gone. F: burning strike ghost fragment: we don’t really learn anything. G: transcript sunbreaker mission shard of the traveler: in this Shaxx talks about how he and 5 others disobeyed orders and took the wall one of them was the sunbreaker liu feng: we also have Shaxx talking about how efrideet threw Saladin so she may have been a sunbreaker if she was even a titan however it says they used arc energy to do this is idk. H: mark of the sun forged: “of all lights we burned the brightest”: this implies that they burn no more. I: breaking light quest: Ikora says that all guardians now wield solar light meaning that the city is now full of sunbreakers So what does all this mean for; Liu feng: she May be a warlock titan hybrid because she forged and presumably uses the sunbracers she also forged sunshot; she is clearly of great might and may have been the 4th magistrate of the sunbreakers were Ouros not the last so she is probably dead if there won’t be another magistrate. The sunbreaker’s they may not be extinct as a group or even as members of an order but the order has fallen though there are probably survivors, we know now that they may have been present at the great disaster, Ouros may have thought that the time of the sunbreakers was over because the fire no longer needed them due to the fact that others in the city were starting to wield the hammer of sol she is also the final magistrate of the sunbreakers, the sun forged mark implies that the sunbreakers light burns no more and according to Ikora all guardians now wild solar light so all titans or any that bother to try and learn can wield the hammer of sol tying back to the sunbreakers not being as needed anymore. This is the most important part and if I am right may be a spoiler for future content [spoiler]We don’t know who the 1st empyreal magistrate of the sunbreakers are but the hammer of sol is of legend both past and future, this reminds me of the perfect paradox which if you don’t know talks about saints belief in a guardian savior which is heavily implied to be us. With the way storylines like that have gone what if the first empyreal magistrate is not the person who formed the order in the beginning but the person who will reform it [/spoiler] [spoiler]our guardians [/spoiler]
