I should clarify: I did all the weekly and daily challenges and bounties that I could do on my own without a fireteam. Not one of them ever dropped an Exotic. The exotic drops I've gotten were all from random enemies in Patrol, a Strike, and Gambit, with the exception of one that dropped at the end of a Crucible match.

My exotic drops in the wild is like once every 2-3 weeks. Its madness to be relying on enemies to drop exotics. Better to focus on the team milestones.
