Maybe they took the route of trying to appeal to a larger audience than just U.S.? Their game is sold world wide, why limit it to just one country, especially when the halloween holiday is not universally celebrated in the U.S.?
They made changes to the festival to match the new tone around the tower. They did this to show that Cayde's death and the red war had an impact to the game.
It is a free event that is much better than any FotL in the past, IMO.
Well, I wouldn't say it's necessarily a 'Halloween-themed event' as much as a seasonal nod to the spooky part of fall...
I mean, why aren't there Christmas trees during the Dawning? And manger scenes? Are you as upset about those? I'd guess not, because 'the Dawning' is more about a seasonal nod to the hopeful side of the Christmas holiday...
It's called 'Festival of the Lost' - weigh and measure it against what it ACTUALLY is. It doesn't need to have pumpkins everywhere... It has a new veiny ship, and an eyeball ghost shell, and spider and black cat projections, and candy corn shaders and screamy sound effects, and all kinds of cool stuff...
