I don't want to be the buzzkill here, I know many of us don't want to see things nerfed but this, my dudes is ridiculous. It can one shot you from anywhere on the map, body or head it doesn't matter. The invading player can see your location which gives them time to charge it up and one shot you. How is this not considered broken?
I could "get gud" or whatever but getting good still does not make gambit fun if I have to be paranoid that every invader is running sleeper. Yes, I could run sleeper too. I could go around one shotting invaders and defenders all day but that still does not fix the issue. If the only way to counter sleeper is sleeper that's a problem. I'm not saying nerf sleeper into the ground but it needs some tweaks, it's just not fun playing Gambit anymore when there is such an easy way to dominate the field.
I know many of you will fire back at this post because a lot of you most likely love sleeper and use it yourselves. However, I really want you to take a step back and remove your bias to really look at this weapon and then give your opinion on it.

9 RepliesHere’s my opinion. Get over it. The thing is something that for the longest time was used for dps primarily now it’s getting used in gambit. The thing about whining for nerfs on metas is that a new meta will pop up. Think back to d1 when shotguns and snipers dominated the crucible, enough people complained and that meta got swapped with NLB, sidearms and that primary shotgun. You’re just gonna end up switching something bad to something worse and in progress ruining the pve side. My advice? Adapt, overcome, move on.

8 RepliesBungie knows if they pay even the slightest attention. The player base is full of people who want to deny it’s a problem because they think they are smarter than the truth, or they want to keep the crutch. At this point it’s use it or lose to it, and that might not change. In general Gambit is pretty good, but there are a lot of problems with it. Sleeper is probably in the top 3 problems.

1 ReplyNo its not, you just need to relax, stay calm everything will be alright. Remember, Sleeper has a charge time, Snipers don't and my Borealis knows it.

2 RepliesEdited by MrMelonized: 9/15/2018 11:58:53 AMJust don't tell people that ordinary linear fusion rifles have half the charge time and are so easy to hit headshots. They can also one hit people out of their super to the head. *Shhhhhhhhhhh*
-
8 RepliesWhat exactly is this mythical "counter" that I keep hearing about? Unless you can find me a weapon that can perform one hit kills on any part of the body at any range, then I don't want to hear any excuses. Oh, I should just use sleeper myself? what if I don't want to use the same weapon all the time? What if I want to use telesto, polaris lance or my brand new lord of wolves? Banning sleeper from gambit the logical course of action. No nerfs, no mechanic changes, just remove the problem from the equation. If they can restrict weapon loadouts in prestige raid lairs, then they can do the same to gambit.

7 RepliesThe ridiculous overshield on invaders is ruining gambit. It’s why people are using sleepers to take them down. There’s no reason to have that kind of overshield on invaders anyway. It’s unacceptable that I have to use a full clip on a shotgun and a full clip on crimson to kill an invader.
-
11 RepliesWhat kind of tweak do you propose? There is only 1 thing i can think of that wouldnt destroy the sleeper which is slightly reduce body damage. So no more instant deaths in ur super but also no more instant kills on an invader.
-
3 RepliesIt's not like the invasion isn't announced loud and clear... get to cover, and make killing the invader top priority.
-
9 RepliesYou know what else can one shot you? A rocket. A sword swing. A super. A grenade. A shotgun. A sniper. Am i missing anything?
-
Completely agree

You know what happens when you and other criers cry about a heavy weapon in a game? Do ya junior?

All linears are aids

27 RepliesI killed 10 ppl all using Sleeper over 2 matches.. you know how? Playing smart.. even got one guy while I was holding 15 motes. Wasn't even using Sleeper.. So many ways you can counter Sleeper.. If you just pay attention and stop crying. This type of crying is what got everything in D1 nerfed and gave us the oh so balanced D2 Vinilla. Seriously kids, just stop.

Shut up Meg.
-
The invader should not be able to see the players overhead tag. That's the main problem.
-
I knew Gambit was going to be like normal crucible, sure you kill PVE but then invaders come in with Sleepers and you may as well say goodbye. What's the point honestly in playing any crucible or Gambit in my opinion, every time some gun is OP and it's all bullshit again.
-
I've sadly started using it a bit myself, because I've gotten tired of everyone else using it. Though I typically end up using it on people invading me. Otherwise I use my super on the other side. Personally I'm tired of bows already.
-
Being able to see the enemy wherever they are is kinda dumb. I’m all for the enemies glowing blue. Maybe something like dark souls.
-
I just use Sleeper to take out invaders on my side... It can go both ways.
-
We cannae hae it both ways! We love how great it is against PvE but hate how it is against PvP. If we change it against PvP then it will affect PvE - that I and I’m sure many others do not want.
-
you could give it the same ammo pick up as a rocket launcher in PvP and that would make it comparable but all you'd have to do to get around it would be to pick up 2 heavies before leaving--it would be something the thing is you're boning yourself on normal pvp since rockets can take out more than one more often than the SS. I think as more people aren't doing the cayde's quest you'll see it countered more often.

9 RepliesRemember it’s a heavy. All heavies one hit. So there isn’t a way to nerf the damage without it not becoming useless. Also you can guess the spawn of other player if you know your maps. Finally, if you shoot the guy with sleeper it wrecks the aim and he misses 60% of the time

I’ve got a idea shut down gambit ...... problem solved😎

Mmmmm, yumi. Your tears taste so good

1 ReplyEdited by HOOSE__: 9/15/2018 4:53:49 AMIts beautiful to use I love it that being said I can counter it with anything. It's a charged weapon so dont stand in the open another piece of advice is if you are countering with a shotgun dont play gambit return to crucible. One more tip its co-op competitive so use team tactics to kill invader it's that simple stop asking them to change weapons. Also, when you invade or get invaded it is power enabled. Wait one more dont play the game if you have to complain about it.
