Is anyone else absolutely disgusted with Destiny's now blatantly exposed Elitism? For a game that used to pride itself in community spirit it now increases max light to 405, but if I've read the notes correctly only those who can prestige raid can get there, or the new catalysts. All of them! Whatever happened to values of equality and diversity. I'm heartily sick of an elite minority being pandered to and now actively discriminated in favour of. Bungie, you should be ashamed of yourselves

Max level doesn't mean anything though. The only reason to be that high a level is if you want to do those activities or get that activity's gear. Once you are the same level of the people you are fighting, there is no reason to get any higher.
-
1 ReplyEquality doesn’t mean everyone gets handed the same reward. It means everyone has the opportunity to earn the same reward. You have exactly the same opportunity to get there as anyone else. Get over your entitled little self.
-
You should take your way of thinking and apply it to your daily life. Let me know how that works out for you.

1 ReplyWho cares? when forsaken releases, 400 power will be nothing to brag about
-
I honestly have no problem with putting the best gear behind the toughest activities, it's what kept me playing Destiny 1. Unfortunately the end game activities in Destiny 2 don't offer the same effort - reward ratio as D1 did so I don't do it. Besides at this point with Foresaken due out in 5 weeks is there really any difference in 385 Vs 405, honestly?
-
3 RepliesLiterally anyone can do the prestige raids. Put in the time, make the effort. When I see your post, all I see is someone saying "But I don't WANT to do the work!"
-
6 RepliesIt's a great shame most of the contributers have utterly misunderstood and decided to deride me and make personal comments about my skill level, raiding or lack of commitment. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough. I have no problem putting high end equipment as rewards for doing high end tasks - the mythocast from D1 being a prime example. Similarly putting exclusive rewards or decorations there to denote elite play Having many friends who put 1000's of hours into destiny and cannot raid through no fault of their own, I utterly deplore Bungie's decision to limit light advancement opportunity to just one high end activity. As many (but not all) replies demonstrate, this just panders to the massive egos of some raiders who instantly accuse one of not raiding, lacking skill, not putting in hours etcetera, purely for making a point about access and opportunity. As for the inane comment about likes. I didn't post to be popular. I posted to object to what I perceive to be a discriminatory and elitist move by bungie. The responses have only confirmed that view. To quote Ghandi: a person can be in a minority of one and still be right
-
I would not worry about it, you can still enjoy the game and as others have said it will be irrelevant post the next DLC. There are a few elitist snobs out there but most of the players are just like us and there are a lot of really helpful players out there as well Have fun and as Bungie do all sorts of weird shit do not let it get you down.

You will hit 400 10 mins into the forsaken campain. Why waste your time?

Edited by Whopping Dingers: 7/25/2018 9:25:18 AMThey put the catalysts behind prestige to give players an incentive to go back to it. I think it should have been put behind both modes but the normal mode should have a lower drop rate. As for the light level...meh...max you need to be is 380. Going in above doesn't give you advantage you cap with the power of the activity. People only ask for high power as it shows experience, which is garbage.

Nice try

I’m not elite but me and some randoms practised ran multiple attempts, got better and better, changing strategies until we could beat it
-
It’s a video game. I laugh out loud at people who think it means anything. I served my country in the Air Force. That means something.

I don't know whether or not to agree with you. Yes, the community has some "elite players" and people that are showing elite behaviour. Yes only giving 400 (weapons, not armour because everyone can get the 400 armour set in the upcoming Solstice of heroes event.) But, Most rpg games and similar games have "elite players" and certain activities that are more for these players than others. (So Bungie isn't wrong in my opinion on creating "challenging activities") The game doesn't have to revolve around the prestige raid, you can get to max light 385 without, but if you want a "headstart" for Forsaken, yes you need to do prestige raids. I raid enough to be able to do prestige raids and I like the way as is. (Played more D1 raids, but I still do D2 raids) I did about 4 prestige clears and only got heavy 400's. So I have to "grind" more to get max weapons and I like it. The point I'm trying to make is that there will always be a certain group that can't complete every activity in a game. If you don't like that idea, don't play the game (or buy it, because D1 had some challenging activities as well!)
-
My thoughs, is there should be raid specific gear. But multiple ways to hit max level. I do find getting a raid team together and to stay together is tougher than destiny one. The reason I haven't done one yet. Also the grind seems worst in this game compared to the first. That also doesn't help.

Edited by Enochua: 7/23/2018 8:00:32 AMever hear of "forever 29". having to do the raid to get the highest light isnt anything new. doing end game content should be more rewarding than just normal grinding.
-
So for a month or two the end game pve players can get a small light advantage, how is this unfair? I need to do the prestige eow n stars still, did leviathan again n that only drops 385, ah well. Buck up kid.
-
Edited by sorinoscreens99: 7/23/2018 7:11:46 AMSo? People who put tin the time and effort to complete a prestige raid lair should be rewarded for their efforts. Also “equality” in this case is just punishing good players for being good. If their is no incentive to be good at the game, the hardcore fan base will leave. And this fan base is what keeps the game going when it is going through tough times. What you are calling for is that everybody gets the same loot regardless of if they put in time and effort in the game. Get over yourself, your just bad.
-
Scrolling through these comments just proves that PvE players are really the ones who are crazy. I'm not sure what's worse, the people who are arrogant about raid clears or the people who think they can whine their way to getting items that other people put in effort for.
-
1 ReplySo in what game does the hardest activity not give the highest reward? Ironically its d2 strikes but still lmao
-
3 Replies*forever 29* *no ghally no invite* *must have experience* *must have prestige emblem* *must have at least 2.0kd* *must have gone to lighthouse X amount of times* Elitism has always been present in destiny since d1y1 and its nothing new.

Relax. Bungie BROKE the game's loot system and is batting around trying to find a way to incentivize people to play the raids. My clan tried to get a group together to run EoWs on normal last night...and couldn't manage it. Even with LFG. So Bungie is trying to combat the reduced player interest (because of lack of interesting loot in terms of perks) by dangling VERTICAL progression in front of players (in the guise of 400 power). Now that EP has been nerfed there is really nothing in the game that requires you to be 400 power, and the DLC drops in 6 weeks anyway. So---unless you're compulsively "completionist"---there is really nothing behind those prestige raid walls that I want. ...and odds are, once Forsaken drops (and random rolls are back) those catalysts will be taken out from behind them.

Must have 40 Prestige Clears to have an opinion!!!

I'll leave you with a quote from Animal Farm
All animals are equal, But some are more equal than others
Its the way this community runs, like it or not. And that's just something you'll have to deal with. Either make the effort to crawl out of the mud, or stay in it.

1 ReplyIm not gonna participate in it personally because Im not much for doing raids and its just toxic all around. So just wait for forsaken to drop and get 400 power level. No big deal just wait a month
