4 RepliesRandom rolls were cancer. Thats what the mod system is supose to be. Mod system is too shallow.
-
15 RepliesBungie built D2 around the notion of a 'balanced PVP experience' because they wanted D2 to be the next big E-sport. Random rolls undermine the 'balance' of PVP, therefore they cannot be reintroduced. The Mod system was their attempt at replicating the 'customization' of random-rolls, somewhat, but it was made weak intentionally lest it too undermine the balance of PVP. Any time you think of something you want to see in this game, as yourself this: "Will this negatively affect PVP balance?" If the answer is yes, you can rest assured the likelihood of you getting your wish is infinitesimally small.

1 ReplyStatic loot in a looter game is very out of place. One of the things killing this game. Imagine if Diablo 4 discarded precedent went all static loot like Destiny 2. Not exactly a pretty picture.
Random Rolls
It's funny, legendary drops were somewhat rare in Destiny 1. As were ranks up's with factions (if you didn't have a bunch of materials packed away to spend) Destiny 2 comes along and changes weapon perks so that they are all the same yet seems to hand out legendary engrams like green's in Destiny 1. ...and people are still against random rolls for D2?... Call me crazy but it seems like the best game of the two to have random rolls is Destiny 2, by a long shot.

12 RepliesStatic rolls are way better. The issue is a lack of good weapons AND a poor mod system. Could you imagine random rolls on the current guns? You would just have 1000s of guns to delete instead of 100. You would still be seeking what we already have in Uriel's etc. The mod system lacks depth which is the real issue. They should have real perks to add such as explosive rounds etc so we can customize.

5 Repliesmoron, static rolls is literally the ONLY thing they did right. did you enjoy playing the same mission over and over until got roll you desired? doesn't this shit game have enough repetition as it is to not have to worry about shitty rolls on top of it?
-
The Bungie fail rate is at a record high. Don't hold your breathe.
-
1 ReplyYes, in Destiny 3 (If you pre-order the Gold Deluxe Ultimate Legendary Edition).
-
3 RepliesYes it is OP. Bungie's need for "balance" everywhere will insure there are no standout weapons for too long. I know I want to play with great weapons, I just don't foresee that in D2. A Scout like Hung Jury would never be allowed, TripleTap, Hand Laid Stock & Firefly would eat similar D2 scouts for lunch and we'd have far too much complaining.
-
It would be nice to have a few weapons that can drop with random perks/scopes etc. Not everything needs to be random.

13 RepliesEdited by meatballsublime: 2/5/2018 4:54:30 PMIt doesn't have to be about random rolls. Static rolls give Bungie a set of base values for each individual weapon to manipulate in the meta. Per gun, they can finally tweak values, instead of having to screw with a whole archetype, when one single gun is too powerful. Of course, if they only adjust the matter twice a year, it's almost moot, but I digress... The real problem to me is not "random vs static" rolls. It's a loot table that's ultimately too small and lacks variety. We need more weapons. We need more diversity in function and perks. And... we actually need more than 3-5 guns to matter. I sure hope the coming sandbox update (in months) will finally make other guns useful... like say almost any single legendary pulse rifle, or the HOF/full-auto scouts, or grenade launchers, or HOF subs/autos, etc.

Random rolls were a huge part of what kept me coming back and doing all of my weekly tasks. There is almost no point in doing weekly tasks when my rewards are going to be something that I've had before. Coupled with the weapon system changes, static rolls are the biggest problem with Destiny 2. This could be taken as just my opinion but the numbers back me up on this one. Destiny 2 numbers are in free fall.

1 ReplyI dont understand why it was so hard to bring back perks from d1 and possibly implement new ones, i dont understand why they couldnt just do an update to destiny to like an mmorpg would. Bungie fix the game
-
I don't think it is a pipe dream but I think a lot of other systems will be implemented before random rolls are brought back. New perks added are much more likely and I hope they just add a bigger inventory of weapons. Random rolls will, I expect, just result in more posts about frustration on not being able to get the god roll.
-
Edited by McHarmonies: 2/5/2018 3:55:23 PMGod I hope so. D1 can keep random rolls. Glad they're gone.
-
Destiny's future is a pipedream at this point, nevermind the random rolls.
-
Yup. I don't think it's going to happen.
-
5 RepliesUnfortunately I don't think random rolls will make a return any time soon which is really disappointing and takes away one of the things that was great about Destiny. Mod system 2.0 seems to be the alternative and I really hope they nail it.

I would be ok with static drops if you could take the gun to the forge on Mercury and reroll the perk. OR ever better, be able to pick the perk you want. You could offer both options in the forge, just charge more shards, or whatever, to be able to pick the perks.

6 RepliesI think random rolls were great but there were a lot of people that RNG was not kind to. To some extent i can understand why they went static rolls but i think they messed up with it. It took away the excitement of a new drop, easiest and best way to fix the issue in my mind is - Remove all the shit perks/rolls from d1 - Have base blue/purple weapons drop as random rolls with no mod slots except for what we have currently (elements/power level for kinetic) - Masterworks weapons drop as random rolls also, but you can re-roll these weapons through the mods system . This way i think it will keep intrigue and excitement for each drop and give you a fun grind as to the boring one we have now. You could get lucky through normal blue/purple drops and land you self a god roll (but no orb generation) and if you are unlucky you can make your own god roll through the masterworks system. I think this would make masterworks have more value also. Of course they would have to change how the rewards were given out and have bounties/milestones/events that give masterworks and not just RNG

I just want my shiit back from Garry ..

Yes, for D2.

4 RepliesI think they have laid a pretty good foundation with master works which is basically your random rolls. They have already distinguished between crucible and vanguard masterworks so they could go a few steps further and release vanguard only masterworks and crucible only masterworks. That would mean they could restrict masterworks that could be considered OP in PvP for PvE only. Add in a deeper mod system perhaps some exotic mods that are only available in high end activities and you got yourself a grind. Perhaps even exotic mod quests.
-
Masterworks should have a second slot at least available so you could run a more aggressive tune like high calibre rounds, explosive rounds, army of one, etc. AoO or Grenadier would actually be pretty good perks at the minute due to the slow recharge rates and IMO they’re pretty neutral perks as they don’t actually make the weapon more powerful. I’d leave the power weapons as they are with only one extra perk as they tend to be one hit kills.

Why, so can trash the same amount of dupes until you get the "God Roll" like everyone else?
