I don't know if this will get any traction, or if anyone at Bungie will even see (let alone care about) this. But here goes:
YES. I am moving on from Destiny. I've had well over 1000 hours of memories with Destiny, including things like; Getting my first exotic. Not having enough Strange coins in Week 2 for Gjally. Playing the Vault of Glass for the first time (No thanks to Bungie's insistence on refusing to provide a matchmaker.) Getting Mythoclast During my 1st hard mode run and then watching it get nerfed into the ground with all Auto Rifles for an entire year.
Things like seeing how fast we could take out Valus Tau'urc, running to Skywatch, not understanding why everyone is so fascinated shooting into a cave, seeing a rather standard 3 v 3 elimination game mode turn into the biggest reason to play 'competitive' Crucible since its release as a CORE feature of an expansion. (Literally a game mode that has been done since shooters were new), getting sent back to orbit for a wipe in Nightfalls, fighting against math (not mechanics) in hard modes of raids and PoE.
You know what I'm talking about? Taken King Style expansions, that reworked the whole game AND gave substantial content after waiting for what seemed like forever. Finally getting more Vault space, learning about tess Everis being reworked into a Microtransaction Vendor (that I have HAPPILY never bought silver for I'll have you know,) and more and more gear/event items were funneled into it (not even purely just cosmetic either [which is just a cop out for MTX to begin with]). Hell, what about the time all the raids were brought back into relevance, and we got a massive weapon overhaul when we pretty much assumed the game was done until D2?
And of Course, there were things that can't be measured in terms of just gameplay. New experiences to make the blood pump with excitement, new friends met on Strikes or raids or forums. And the random Dance party breakout in the tower, because you never know which guardians are coming down with dance fever next.
Ever since my Titan stepped foot into Old Russia for the first time during the Alpha, ever since that first Fist of Havoc blew me away..... ever since, there have been nonstop memories that have all, for better or worse, been directly because of Destiny. And I will never forget or regret that.
But those days feel gone..... over..... lost.... like Dust in the wind, never to return. It's hard to see a company I grew up loving turn into something so....... robotic.... uncaring, where the only word they can hear, and the only thing they recognize the touch of? You guessed it fellow Guardians; It's money.
From the choice to Drastically simplify the endgame and cater to casual players (In Bungie's own admittances) to the choice to have every weapon feel like a carbon copy recolor of the one you just switched out, to the extremely Devious Bright engram progression system, and all the XP/ Three of coins/ locking base content behind dlc controversy that makes it uncomfortably clear that Bungie cares only about optimizing revenue as opposed to retaining players and brand loyalty......
All of these things contribute to why I'm giving up. I no longer believe that every expansion will make Destiny a better place, I DEFINITELY do not believe that Bungie can/will use previous experiences or assets that the COMMUNITY gave them the ideas for in the first place. I don't think that when the next Dlc arrives the game will be in a MUCH better state. I think it will be dead. I also no longer trust Bungie to make a whole new game from scratch, as it seems every time that they do, it becomes a progressively smaller/less fun/worse experience than what preceded it.
To those of you who still enjoy Destiny, that's great, have fun while it's fresh.
Because one day, you may become like myself and the rest of us; Tired.
Tired of the lies, the misleading, the repeated mistakes, the continued failure to live up to potential.
Tired of paying into Bungie and the Destiny universe, just waiting for it to get better, only to have a hand, begging for more money, put right in your face at every opportunity.
I hope that Bungie can regain their sense of self. That we can return to Halo 3 days..... Hell I'd even settle for Vanilla D1 days at this point. I hope that Destiny can one day FINALLY live up to its potential. But I'm done waiting. I'm done putting in time money and effort to a company that finds new and creative ways to slap me in the face at every turn.
So all I can say is;
Goodbye fellow Guardians, it's been real.
P.S. I am really done with Destiny and Bungie unless there is a MASSIVE change in direction. So feel free to leave as many salty comments or Bye Felicia's or good riddances as you want. Not only will I not see them, because I will no longer visit this website, but I don't care. This was a letter to Bungie and Year1 vets who got shafted. If you think any little insult is going to upset me or sway me, just know that you will be wasting your time.

2 RepliesEdited by Dooodley: 12/19/2017 9:20:51 PMAlpha Vet, really? Not saying that you don't have a point with your actual post but if you're trying to elevate your opinion through some form of veterancy you should probably have more than 1000 hours in the Destiny universe and 3 years on the site for it to carry some actual weight.

2 RepliesDestiny died when Bungo replaced our ghost's voice... everything went down the Hill... the forum is still fun thou

11 RepliesGod, you baby. Who’s cares? A single paragraph in and the self indulgent whining, cringe inducing, chicken soup for the soul needing, mommy wipe my butt for me, pathetic mess that your life seems to be makes me feel so sorry for you and everyone who is cursed with knowing you. Get a damn life, it’s a video game, nothing more, any over-investments in this group of pixels is your fault. It’s rare that I’ve ran across people like you before but when I do it’s clear why the world is the way it is.

1 ReplyWhat or Who is Felicia?

1 ReplyI want to care. I really do. But hundreds of similar posts like this one have nullified me from giving a single shit about people leaving anymore. I'll still be here enjoying my own time. You do whatever you feel like doing. Not a single judgment on my end towards you or anyone else that feels closing the door on D2.

1 ReplyOkay, but like... just leave. You wrote a bad undergrad creative writing short story (like dust in the wind, never to return? Oof.) To whom? Bungie? Probably not. The forum? Oh most definitely yes. The problem is nobody here cares about anyone else's sob story. If you were legit done you'd just not boot the game up and live the rest of your life. This is just a cry for upvotes. And as much as you prefaced your rant stating otherwise, that's all you wanted. Let's be honest.

I get it. Letting go is hard. I hope putting all your thoughts to virtual paper helps you cope. Good luck finding another game to sink your teeth into. I feel similarly but the gunplay is still so good I still play, just not every day anymore.

1000hrs lmao

Delete those characters then boi. Thought so. Its not that bad.

Alpha Vet with only 1000 Hours? PMSL.

2 RepliesYou didn't need to make a post about this. It's just a repeat of what people have been saying for years now. Good to see you wised up though.

2 RepliesI don't know why the dramatics are necessary; just go play other games! I know I will. I am looking forward to Monster Hunter, Anthem and the rest. I'll play D2 when I feel like it, not religiously and burn myself out, then go to other stuff and play that too. Occasionally, I'll come back and when big fun things happen maybe I'll play more. But this game has never been my life. I've known since D1 that their content model isn't robust enough for me to play day in and out for years. Regardless, I still think it's a fun distraction, at least at the pace I'm going with it. Destiny has always had replay value of some kind, but it isn't WoW or something where there's countless hours of playtime here. I think the sooner people stop expecting a content flood and accept it for what it is, you'll appreciate it more...and just play it less.
