I don't know if this will get any traction, or if anyone at Bungie will even see (let alone care about) this. But here goes:
YES. I am moving on from Destiny. I've had well over 1000 hours of memories with Destiny, including things like; Getting my first exotic. Not having enough Strange coins in Week 2 for Gjally. Playing the Vault of Glass for the first time (No thanks to Bungie's insistence on refusing to provide a matchmaker.) Getting Mythoclast During my 1st hard mode run and then watching it get nerfed into the ground with all Auto Rifles for an entire year.
Things like seeing how fast we could take out Valus Tau'urc, running to Skywatch, not understanding why everyone is so fascinated shooting into a cave, seeing a rather standard 3 v 3 elimination game mode turn into the biggest reason to play 'competitive' Crucible since its release as a CORE feature of an expansion. (Literally a game mode that has been done since shooters were new), getting sent back to orbit for a wipe in Nightfalls, fighting against math (not mechanics) in hard modes of raids and PoE.
You know what I'm talking about? Taken King Style expansions, that reworked the whole game AND gave substantial content after waiting for what seemed like forever. Finally getting more Vault space, learning about tess Everis being reworked into a Microtransaction Vendor (that I have HAPPILY never bought silver for I'll have you know,) and more and more gear/event items were funneled into it (not even purely just cosmetic either [which is just a cop out for MTX to begin with]). Hell, what about the time all the raids were brought back into relevance, and we got a massive weapon overhaul when we pretty much assumed the game was done until D2?
And of Course, there were things that can't be measured in terms of just gameplay. New experiences to make the blood pump with excitement, new friends met on Strikes or raids or forums. And the random Dance party breakout in the tower, because you never know which guardians are coming down with dance fever next.
Ever since my Titan stepped foot into Old Russia for the first time during the Alpha, ever since that first Fist of Havoc blew me away..... ever since, there have been nonstop memories that have all, for better or worse, been directly because of Destiny. And I will never forget or regret that.
But those days feel gone..... over..... lost.... like Dust in the wind, never to return. It's hard to see a company I grew up loving turn into something so....... robotic.... uncaring, where the only word they can hear, and the only thing they recognize the touch of? You guessed it fellow Guardians; It's money.
From the choice to Drastically simplify the endgame and cater to casual players (In Bungie's own admittances) to the choice to have every weapon feel like a carbon copy recolor of the one you just switched out, to the extremely Devious Bright engram progression system, and all the XP/ Three of coins/ locking base content behind dlc controversy that makes it uncomfortably clear that Bungie cares only about optimizing revenue as opposed to retaining players and brand loyalty......
All of these things contribute to why I'm giving up. I no longer believe that every expansion will make Destiny a better place, I DEFINITELY do not believe that Bungie can/will use previous experiences or assets that the COMMUNITY gave them the ideas for in the first place. I don't think that when the next Dlc arrives the game will be in a MUCH better state. I think it will be dead. I also no longer trust Bungie to make a whole new game from scratch, as it seems every time that they do, it becomes a progressively smaller/less fun/worse experience than what preceded it.
To those of you who still enjoy Destiny, that's great, have fun while it's fresh.
Because one day, you may become like myself and the rest of us; Tired.
Tired of the lies, the misleading, the repeated mistakes, the continued failure to live up to potential.
Tired of paying into Bungie and the Destiny universe, just waiting for it to get better, only to have a hand, begging for more money, put right in your face at every opportunity.
I hope that Bungie can regain their sense of self. That we can return to Halo 3 days..... Hell I'd even settle for Vanilla D1 days at this point. I hope that Destiny can one day FINALLY live up to its potential. But I'm done waiting. I'm done putting in time money and effort to a company that finds new and creative ways to slap me in the face at every turn.
So all I can say is;
Goodbye fellow Guardians, it's been real.
P.S. I am really done with Destiny and Bungie unless there is a MASSIVE change in direction. So feel free to leave as many salty comments or Bye Felicia's or good riddances as you want. Not only will I not see them, because I will no longer visit this website, but I don't care. This was a letter to Bungie and Year1 vets who got shafted. If you think any little insult is going to upset me or sway me, just know that you will be wasting your time.

2 RepliesSpot on. I was going on a rant to my wife about how shitty this game has turned and I came to a realization. If I died tomorrow, or next week, between all my accounts and characters I would have dedicated over 50 days of my life to bungie in Destiny alone. God knows I spent more time playing Halo 1 and 2 and 3. I've given about 6 months of my dedicated attention to this developer and they could give two shits about me. Greedy sons of bitches. Go rot in hell deej and luke smith. You guys are pretentious assholes.

Well said! I’m hoping another game is gonna grab me like D1 did but I got a strong feeling it won’t be from bungie again.
-
I agree full heartedly with this. I came to this forum to express the same exact opinion on destiny. I was sooooo hopeful that destiny 2 would improve by leaps and bounds from its predecessor. Come to find out that not only was that not the case but bungie couldnt learn from the mistakes they made after 3 years of improving the original. I've put too much money and hope into this franchise just so that it could spit in my face. I deleted the game and no matter how much you try to improve it, I will not be returning.

1 ReplyI was a huge fan of D1, played 1000's of hours. Preordered D2 with expansions right away. Thoroughly disappointed with this microtransaction infested POS boring game. I will play the next expansion only because I've already paid for it. After the next expansion ,that will be the final death nell for this game. They suckered a lot of D1 players (myself included) into buying the game and DLC's. Many of us will not be fooled again, I foresee terrible sales when the suckered preorders are not being counted. It could have been great, Bungie and Activision did what many of their competitors couldn't. Greed and stupid decision have killed this franchise, I doubt it will last for their 10 year plan.

Dude the game just sucks... nothing like destiny 1

Goodbye! Sorry we never met, maybe you'll find another game to invest into. You're always welcome back at anytime, but for now… Guardian Down

I'm a vet and I feel exactly the same way I couldn't have said it better myself and I am leaving as well I'll miss those good times too.... it's a shame I had such high hopes it really is too sad I'll miss d1 forever. ... could've been the best game ever :( good luck in life guardian I'll miss the community when they were like you... now it's all toxic a holes and a flat out boring game anyway I'm out as well so your definitely not alone and bungie knows they took a deuce on themselves lol... peace out guardians !!!!!

Being an “Alpha vet” doesn’t make your departure any more important you penis...
-
Yes, you’re not alone. Really bummed the way D2 is.
-
18 RepliesJesus. Your poor ex- girlfriends. Your break up letters probably have a table of contents.
-
This post has more content than all the years in destiny.....
-
5 Replies1000 hours of most things will make you tired or bored of it. Anyway... The amount of emotional attachment some people have for a simple form of entertainment is a bit over the top.
-
4 RepliesLiterally no one cares. Not the fans of the game, not the devs, not the publishers, and not even the people who dislike the game. The only people that might care are the ones who have no lives outside of video games/complaining about video games and have to seek validation from other complainers.

Dont you mean "like bright dust in the wind"

Guardian Down

The thing is, you've most likely been playing D2 since release and bought the season pass. Bungie have already won (again).
-
Omg not another stupid, pointless letter. Just leave why be so dramatic about it. Are you a man or a mouse?. For peet sakes, just move on. Dammit.
-
3 RepliesWhy do you people feel the need to address that you’re leaving with an essay. Nobody here Gives a damn. If you’re gonna leave just leave. Don’t write a report about it. You’re just telling everyone that you need attention. So take your bags and GTFO. I better not see you on here anytime in the future

Only a thousand hours. What a noob.

3 RepliesEdited by nuclear nadall: 12/20/2017 7:49:03 AMIt’s a game. It’s not a family member or a career. I don’t get these good bye posts. Also you have not played since OCT 9th. Isn’t this a bit late. Don’t worry you won’t be missed Mr. alpha beta Zulu foxtrot whiskey vet.

I appreciate the fact that you've played better days of Destiny and have finally had enough, but out of curiosity: what was the tipping point? Most people left a couple weeks after release. The slower ones left a month or so in when they caught up. The optimists left a day or so after CoO. Only people left should be the super optimists and the small few who genuinely like the game. So basically: why now?
