I don't know if this will get any traction, or if anyone at Bungie will even see (let alone care about) this. But here goes:
YES. I am moving on from Destiny. I've had well over 1000 hours of memories with Destiny, including things like; Getting my first exotic. Not having enough Strange coins in Week 2 for Gjally. Playing the Vault of Glass for the first time (No thanks to Bungie's insistence on refusing to provide a matchmaker.) Getting Mythoclast During my 1st hard mode run and then watching it get nerfed into the ground with all Auto Rifles for an entire year.
Things like seeing how fast we could take out Valus Tau'urc, running to Skywatch, not understanding why everyone is so fascinated shooting into a cave, seeing a rather standard 3 v 3 elimination game mode turn into the biggest reason to play 'competitive' Crucible since its release as a CORE feature of an expansion. (Literally a game mode that has been done since shooters were new), getting sent back to orbit for a wipe in Nightfalls, fighting against math (not mechanics) in hard modes of raids and PoE.
You know what I'm talking about? Taken King Style expansions, that reworked the whole game AND gave substantial content after waiting for what seemed like forever. Finally getting more Vault space, learning about tess Everis being reworked into a Microtransaction Vendor (that I have HAPPILY never bought silver for I'll have you know,) and more and more gear/event items were funneled into it (not even purely just cosmetic either [which is just a cop out for MTX to begin with]). Hell, what about the time all the raids were brought back into relevance, and we got a massive weapon overhaul when we pretty much assumed the game was done until D2?
And of Course, there were things that can't be measured in terms of just gameplay. New experiences to make the blood pump with excitement, new friends met on Strikes or raids or forums. And the random Dance party breakout in the tower, because you never know which guardians are coming down with dance fever next.
Ever since my Titan stepped foot into Old Russia for the first time during the Alpha, ever since that first Fist of Havoc blew me away..... ever since, there have been nonstop memories that have all, for better or worse, been directly because of Destiny. And I will never forget or regret that.
But those days feel gone..... over..... lost.... like Dust in the wind, never to return. It's hard to see a company I grew up loving turn into something so....... robotic.... uncaring, where the only word they can hear, and the only thing they recognize the touch of? You guessed it fellow Guardians; It's money.
From the choice to Drastically simplify the endgame and cater to casual players (In Bungie's own admittances) to the choice to have every weapon feel like a carbon copy recolor of the one you just switched out, to the extremely Devious Bright engram progression system, and all the XP/ Three of coins/ locking base content behind dlc controversy that makes it uncomfortably clear that Bungie cares only about optimizing revenue as opposed to retaining players and brand loyalty......
All of these things contribute to why I'm giving up. I no longer believe that every expansion will make Destiny a better place, I DEFINITELY do not believe that Bungie can/will use previous experiences or assets that the COMMUNITY gave them the ideas for in the first place. I don't think that when the next Dlc arrives the game will be in a MUCH better state. I think it will be dead. I also no longer trust Bungie to make a whole new game from scratch, as it seems every time that they do, it becomes a progressively smaller/less fun/worse experience than what preceded it.
To those of you who still enjoy Destiny, that's great, have fun while it's fresh.
Because one day, you may become like myself and the rest of us; Tired.
Tired of the lies, the misleading, the repeated mistakes, the continued failure to live up to potential.
Tired of paying into Bungie and the Destiny universe, just waiting for it to get better, only to have a hand, begging for more money, put right in your face at every opportunity.
I hope that Bungie can regain their sense of self. That we can return to Halo 3 days..... Hell I'd even settle for Vanilla D1 days at this point. I hope that Destiny can one day FINALLY live up to its potential. But I'm done waiting. I'm done putting in time money and effort to a company that finds new and creative ways to slap me in the face at every turn.
So all I can say is;
Goodbye fellow Guardians, it's been real.
P.S. I am really done with Destiny and Bungie unless there is a MASSIVE change in direction. So feel free to leave as many salty comments or Bye Felicia's or good riddances as you want. Not only will I not see them, because I will no longer visit this website, but I don't care. This was a letter to Bungie and Year1 vets who got shafted. If you think any little insult is going to upset me or sway me, just know that you will be wasting your time.

All of the poir communication and bad decisions and even the outright fabrications are pallatable if the game doesnt suck. The core issue is d2 sucks. For loads of reasons, but fact remains. They have to do something radical, a break the glass if emergency kind of thing to fix d2.

See ya!

It's so true and so sharp. I personally wouldn't have thought of it like that. If I worked at Bungie myself and read that, I would realize I can't argue against it even though I would want to argue. Ultimately, I would be at least a little ashamed of myself, knowing that it is harshly accurate.

SHIT just got REAL. EVERVERSE and other "predatory" gambling simulators from developers like Bungie UNDER INVESTIGATIVE SCRUTINY as 5 more states seek legal crackdown. https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/240790735?page=0&sort=0&showBanned=0&path=1 Please bump and let's get real with ending this exploitation. The whole "we've been listening to your feedback" BS days are over. Everyone can see Bungies lies for what they are in broad daylight..

Good Luck Guardian. You’ll always have a place with the Vanguard.

1 Replyit's the same problem with legion wow. they need to quit with the rng randomness crap and make it more balanced and strategic and competitive. not this rng grind crap.

Thanks for the precious feedback. This might not be forwarded to the appropriate teams. We'll speak to the feedback collected in early 2018.

1 ReplyWell said and I feel the same way. I actually started to feel this way when TTK dropped, but at the time it was just small warning signs. Bungie needs to go back and watch their videos from the 2013 period to see why people were so excited about this franchise. Saying Bungie didn’t have time to correct the direction of D2 during development stage is a strawman argument. Bungie had been planning this franchise before their departure from MS. The first real warning signs should have been the departure of Staten and the delay in launch with D1. Of course, hindsight is always 20/20. Like you, I have a lot of great memories from my D1 days but those days are gone along with a lot of friends I made during that first year of the Destiny experience. I held on way too long in retrospect. If Bungie can make a massive course correction and come back to the epic “sci-fi/fantasy FPS MMORPG” concept they pitched back in 2013, then I would consider coming back. Otherwise, I have shed the bland Guardian skin I once wore with pride and embrace the countless Warframes my spirit now inhabits.

I bought the dlc pack so I will play till then but the game, enemies, bungie... it’s all just the same shit I’ve done in d1 for 4 years

20 RepliesAll the triggered fanboys attacking the op is too damn funny. Yet you're telling him no need to make a big scene over a video game yet you retards are getting all butt hurt over his thread lol. You fanboys are such huge hypocrites lol.

Quit your bitching and play Destiny 1.

You read the first 6-10 sentences, you scroll through the whole thing, get to the comments here someone has surely made it clear/ made a summarizes what this and then you post like said to say, Really do you really think anyone cares let alone is going to take the time to read this. If you want any backing make it sort and sweet so people will want to read what this is about. Long garbage like this usually just drives people away because they don’t want to read all this.

1 ReplyEdited by KayOsS882: 12/20/2017 4:16:30 PMWhy even post such a long goodbye?? Be like me, just leave the game without saying a word (keep getting messages from my destiny friends and the conversation and conspiracy theory of what happened to me is funny as hell). Once you leave, just go on this forum to troll people. It’s a lot more fun than destiny 2. By the way, who’s Felicia? Is she hot? You got pic? Is she single? Did you and her ever have a relationship (don’t want baggage)?

Snowball, yeos?

Psh, 1,000 hours.. I remember my first year. I have over 3,000 in D1 and D2 combined. I am still playing and not throwing a fit, to quit and play some other game that you know damn well isn't nearly as good, but is not held to as high of a standard.
-
I quit too but when I get a destiny urge I pop in d1.

seeya, on your way out feel free to enjoy a delicious Moon Pie

Well actually moved on and then backwards....moved to battlefront and skyrim and then..back to destiny one, I went backwards in time........."waaaaaaaait the sarge is just a private? Oh. My. God. The teleporter sent me back in time." "Tucker what the -blam!- are you babbling about?" "Church I know this all sounds crazy but one day this guy gets promoted to sergeant and we spy on them. And I'm all like, there is NO WAY we can pick up chicks in a tank"
