I played over 500 hours of destiny in year 1 and only managed to max 1 character and I never got bored.. I've had D2 for 3 months, have clocked 160 hours and already have 3 maxed characters... the much loved grind aspect of destiny has been brutally slaughtered, making destiny 2 a game where casuals and hardcore players are no different... smh

2 RepliesAll anyone did was bitch about the grind in D1. You all have a short memory apparently.

I have 379 hours on D2 and there are still things I could do. I just finished the raid weapon set last week and completed my exotic set of 52 with Xur selling the Karnstein Armlets. But there are still things I haven't finished. I need 1 piece of raid armor for each character, and I only have the prestige helmet on my warlock so far. I still need a few pieces of IB armor. I still haven't gotten an Antiope-D. There's the last raid challenge next week. I also still need the Spicy Ramen emote. There are things I can still grind for. The difference for me is, I can't stomach the duplicates. At least in D1, a duplicate legendary might mean a "god roll". Or at least a fun/different weapon. Duplicates as they stand now are ABSOLUTELY WORTHLESS. If they don't do something MEANINGFUL with legendary shards, they'll still be useless. That for me is the big difference between the D1 and D2 grind.

Edited by Shiori: 11/17/2017 11:41:52 AMI feel like the original taken king grind was the best. You first had to get the right type of gear which there was ten of. Then it had to be the right light level and as you got higher and higher more and more stuff was useless until you only needed one slot at 320 and that could take forever to get. Thats not bad because the 319 player isn't at a disadvantage. The 300 player who doesn't raid isn't even at a disadvantage. Theres no point in being at max light so it may as well take the whole expansion to grind out. I'd be raiding every week if I still had light level to grind. My way to fix this would be to have the raid and trials drop gear in tiers. So powerful engrams will get you to a good point and the raid/trials is there after. normal like, KF, going up 10 and then heroic going up another 10. I forget how trials worked back then, but it should be similar. You don't need to be at max light so they should just allow their dedicated players that grind that other players won't do and don't need to do.
