I have a few questions for you...
Where were you when I was farming planet materials for hours just to upgrade a gun or two or actually make my exotic feel like it was supposed to?
Where were you when we got nothing but shards and energy in the raid, cheesed it like crazy, and had no changes on hard mode to be seen except severely putting 29s at a large damage disadvantage and no respawns? Friendly reminder if you didn't get a piece of gear you had to wait until the next week to progress...
Where were you when Thorn reigned king as the only way an average or even good player could possibly compete in crucible for more than half a -blam!-ing year with no changes!?
Where were you when there was a "heavy ammo drought" where no one had synths since they took them off Xur very purposefully and we had to empty out our weapons entirely to glitch heavy just to shoot down the most basic designed raid boss in history (Crota) in a raid where again everyone cheesed every single section and there was a total of 1 new hard mode mechanic?
Where were you when they decided no more small expansions and that they were going to call Festival of The Lost and things that were designed to make more silver "new content funded by silver"? This lasted an entire year until RoI.
Gtfo out if you think D2 is much worse. Yeah maybe it's worse than Age of Triumph, their swan song where they brought everything in three years together. But it sure as hell isn't worse than the low points of Destiny 1 where we all continued chugging on until the next expansion anyway. They had time to learn yes but a team was building this game while D1 was still in progress. Mind you most of the changes again came from player feedback on these forums (not all but most). So stop giving shit feedback. They know the important things we want already believe me.

Edited by Enochua: 11/16/2017 1:48:25 AMIt isnt that D1 was great out the gate, but with all the improvements that we did see D1 go through, D2 should of been better. Not watered down like it was/is. if i need to go into why this is then "you" haven't been paying attention.

1 ReplyI had more fun farming materials then I do now in destiny 2.
-
I was there for ALL of that, 3400+ hours of it, and a lot of it sucked. But the bottom line is still the same; i had fun doing those things with my friends and now we don’t play at all.

2 RepliesEdited by Rapscallion: 11/16/2017 12:45:21 AMI gathered materials. I upgraded my guns. Didn't get the drop I wanted? Well that's just the grind, but I enjoyed doing VoG, so it never bothered me. Good times when a raid drop or exotic would pop up and we would lose our shit instead of just auto dismantling. God damn did I love thorn, one of the most fun weapons I've ever used in a video game. There were several weapons that could compete with thorn, people just love to exaggerate about that era. The heavy drought was an issue, I agree with that. Silver is still around and I'm sure it won't be going anywhere. All in all, D1 was always a fun game to play, D2 isn't fun to play at all. I invested damn near 2k hours into D1. I quit D2 the second week after release lol. All of this is bullshit anyway, some people think D1 is better, others think D2 is better. No one is going to change their mind.

Here comes the typical idiot who doesnt get the point. D2 sucks compared to where D1 ended u moron. Thats what the main complaint is but idiots like u dont get that when we say D1 we meant y3 age of triumph. How bout u gtfo since ur okay with them going from Y3 D1 back to vanilla D1 and to u oh theyll fix it.
-
...and yet compared to the total abomination that is D2, D1 IS god's gift.

Exactly this. All of it.

Thank you finally a true vet

These people like it better because of nostalgia and that’s it... The grind is kinda the same as vanilla D1other then not having random rolls
-
I’m just glad you ended with “stop giving shit feedback”. Most of these kids on here likely yelled and screamed at their parents until they got what they wanted. In their defense though, this is no longer a hybrid RPG. All that grinding is gone. A little sad about it. Only thing I’m grinding now is for a Celestial Nighthawk...😑
-
I was doing the same and so addictive I could not stop.

3 RepliesD2 is much worse because they had the opportunity to figure out the identity of destiny in the first 3 years they put the game out. The time to test things out was in those 3 years while we were willing to forgive the mistakes and misteps. Destiny 2 should have been far better, more polished and have figured out what exactly it was going to be. As it is.. its another experiment, see what they can figure out etc.. many fans simply don't want to give them that chance to continue to screw them out of more money.

Edited by Snwflak3: 11/15/2017 10:28:42 PMD1 Vanilla may have had a laundry list of issues, but it had some D2 currently doesn't have: elusiveness. You were always trying to grind or work for something in D1, whether it was planetary materials, shards, Gjally, Fatebringer, etc. There was always something. The only thing that's really elusive in D2 currently is crap from Eververse. YAWN

To copy and edit another reply to your post: D1 Vanilla may have had a laundry list of issues, but it had something D2 currently doesn't have: elusiveness. You were always trying to grind or work for something in D1, whether it was planetary materials, shards, Gjallarhorn, Fatebringer, etc. There was always something. The basic problem with D2 is simply that it is NOT FUN. Have fun and may RNG be forever in your favor.

I'm upvoting, but tbh i really enjoyed both :) Day 1 D1 guardian all the way through. Sure I took a break in the great content droughts but I did not leave salty, just happily waited for the next content drop. I'm sure i'll do the same again in D2. It seems like people want to just live in destiny all the time. But you need to take breaks, play other games, just generally enjoy life.
-
I preferred year 1 destiny including all you mentioned. But I happened to enjoy the grind.
-
Bungie know the important things we want and they'll charge us a pretty penny for it. Only a matter of time before they decided to go full on EA, already testing the water with removing Eva Levante and stockpiling Eververse.
-
Where was I? Farming right along with you. At least materials actually had a purpose.
-
Yeah those were some bad times, but answer this: Why didn't bungie learn from their past mistakes? Why did they do worse on something that was hard to ruin?
-
True that. Destiny 1 didn't get good til HOW
-
Compared to this blatant cash grab? Yup
-
2 RepliesYet another sad attempt to create a public narrative that it's ok that Destiny 2 is garbage if you compare it to D1 vanilla. Keep trying. On top of that, we saw that the DLC is yet another polished turd. So Destiny 2 is a failure and we see that it's not getting better.
there goes your only argument
This is the dumbest thing I've read on here today. Congrats.
-
but the game at its base was fun and addicting. this game is a strange socialist experiment where loot is blasted at you from an exploding pinata and its all worthless. strikes, nightfall, raid... all of the loot in the game is not worth getting at all.
-
I see you are talking about things that were eventually fixed. Minus FoTL that is. Over time things got better, so how about compare it to Year 3?
