today's patch notes: https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/Update/46437
Faction Rallies:
Strikes now reward Faction Tokens at a range of 5 to 9 Faction Tokens per completion (up from 3 to 7)
Nightfall now rewards 10 to 18 Faction Tokens on first completion per character
Completing Heroic Public Events now rewards 5 Faction Tokens (down from 8)
Destroying enemy resources no longer rewards Faction Tokens
Opening Lost Sector chests now rewards 3 Faction Tokens for each fireteam member
EDIT 3: I take it all back. In Bungie's effort to slow down token farming, someone has already discovered a certain area that's even faster than last rally event with the new changes. Typical Bungie I guess. I should have known.
EDIT 4: Just hit the engram cap for New Monarchy and no new scout rifle or a complete armor set (missing chest and arms). I did however get 15-20 Coronation Mark titan butt-towels with matching Restoration VIII auto rifles...

They are trying to make it less casual friendly. There goes me even having a snow balls chance of getting the guns I want.
-
It's funny that there's no real motivation to farm these except for looks. In reality, these weapons are no different then the ones already in the game.

Edited by SackOfWine: 11/3/2017 5:36:30 PMHonestly my only issue with this is if they didn't make the factions an event and left it as it was in D1 then this wouldn't even be an issue lol. But hey simple solution from a simple mind I guess.

Just correct your name to panties and get it over with
-
Faction rally is a horrible event and just boring AF for useless static rolled BS. They could give tokens for free and I wouldn't cash them in.
-
Yeah, let's make earning the pulls on the Faction Rally slot machine take even longer? Nope.
-
4 RepliesThe entire concept of a faction rally was stupid to begin with. Who really cares at this point? So, whoever the winning faction is, just go buy the weapon with all the glimmer you have. Done deal, no incentive to really play at all. Just log on after the rally and buy it. As for the gear? Good luck with that. Both IB and FR are a joke at this point. Wake up bungie, its not a dream. Your choking the player base to death with your ideas.
-
They should have included Adventures. Even 1 token. Same for Patrols.

Edited by vDRIZZTv: 11/3/2017 4:56:50 PMfaction rallies are not worth grinding anyway I like the game but that's just because I like the shooting mechanics. I play because the alien/gaurdian killing is fun. I don't play to try to get certain gear because all the loot is pretty much the same.

1 ReplyEdited by Elway358: 11/3/2017 1:08:23 PM"We noticed that players felt Lost Sectors were useful, but disliked the fact that they couldn’t enjoy them with a fireteam, so we moved the faction tokens from the destructible items to the chest at the end of the activity. The destructibles will still be featured as a daily milestone and are still available to help your fireteam clear out the Lost Sector." I didn't notice this thread before making my own about pretty much this same thing. The above statement is my "favorite" part. Straight up bullshit liars man. I'm starting to see where all the salt on these forums are coming from now. For me, it aint even about the event changes, it's about how spineless they are to have to pull something like this out of their ass to justify nerfing a farm method. sad...
-
They still reward too many coins. Not that it matters they’re pretty much useless.
-
4 RepliesIsn't the "grind" something players on forums wanted. Now you've got what you wanted lmao
-
1 ReplyFrankly, it was too easy in the first place. Being able to grind multiple hundreds of tokens in 20-30 minutes by repeating a certain few lost sectors over and over was a bit ridiculous. The other problem was no matter how much you did... you never got what you wanted anyway. Bungie's whole time invested verses value gained is the polar opposite of what they need it to be. Already, they see that letting people get 50 engrams in 2 days is not the way to go. And because you can get 50 engrams easily (of course, if you have the time) they have to make each engram have as much junk in it as possible to keep a faction rally going for more than a couple days. So, no only does is sh*t on a determined grinder, it also makes it that much harder for those who don't grind nearly at all for them to actually get something from the faction as they're judged as if even they could get 50 engrams in two days by the RNG system, regardless of if they do or not. -- A much better way, IMO, the best way was right after ttk dropped (if you ignore the terrible first instance of infusion percentage) and how rewards were rationed out. Implement the Rise of Iron (choose your engram) upon faction level and you had a great reward system. Seriously, if one faction level up was 100 tokens, but you could choose the type of engram you got (and take out all the garbage non-faction loot as well) they would have an infinitely better system because they wouldn't have to shoot their own rewards system in the face to keep longevity and a determined grinder can actually get stuff out of the way than needlessly grinding for nothing. Yes, you could still get duplicates... but you wouldn't get 20 duplicates before your next new item and the pools of duplicates would be much less due to having different types of engrams. Besides, it would all be faction gear regardless so at least you're getting stuff you might actually want, like the guns. -- In the world of grinding there has to be a middle ground between the time and the reward. Right now, the forums are all about 'no grind' or 'no reward' and no one wants to accept that there is a inbetween. "You just want the game to be easier!!! Isn't it easy enough! You noob EARN SOMETHING!" ~ crazy end of spectrum number 1 No... I want the grind to be worth it. Giving someone 50 engreams and only giving 3 things of worth is worse than giving 5 engrams in the same amount of time but actually getting something for each one, or at least, with many more ways to make sure you get what you want. "But then you are OBVIOUSLY advocating going back to vanilla Y1 RAHOOL 1 ENGRAM NO REWARD FEST OF TERRIBLENESS!!!! You heathen!" ~crazy end of spectrum number 2 Again... no, I'm not. No one wants the vanilla D1 grind back where you had to grind several hours of materials for one gun to be upgraded and no one wants a color system that doesn't work. I'm advocating for a middle ground. Everyone else wants to scream that every change is one extreme or the other. It's asinine. You need the value of early D1 and the consistency of ttk rewards with the flexibility of Rise of Iron reward choice. That way rewards are meaningful, reliably consistent that don't have to worry about actively killing the player, and flexible enough to minimize the duplicate threat for that 'last piece' that they need. -- And then, the ultimate longevity, it to simply have more guns and armor to go for. Or random rolls... but that's just me.

Consider the faction rally as The Special Olympics for Special guardians. and Iron Banner is Trump University for guardians. No refunds of course.
-
1 ReplyWhy faction rally in the first, have you not acquired all the best weapons?
-
12 Replies"Omg bungie wtf, did u really just make D2 a little bit more grindy? Seriously? That's exactly what people asked for, ffs. Now instead of maxing out all 3 factions with a cheese I have to do it legit? How do I complain about lack of endgame now?" - literally every kid in the forums
-
Complaining about the grind when the biggest complaint from the community that they have taken away the grind 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
-
1 ReplyNot really... I was hoping they would put a better payout in the Strikes, but instead buffed strikes and nerfed Public Events... But even still, Public Events and Strikes having the same payout kinda still makes the choice really easy. Public Events + Lost Sector are STILL the best way to get tokens. I managed to EASILY get all of the gear last go-around. This change doesn't really change that much. I'll still score everything in 7 days. I think you're just being a baby.
-
This was actually sneaky wording to remove the token exploit from the last rally.
-
1 ReplyOh no! More effort so you play the game longer and now you actually have to work for stuff, poor thing!
-
5 RepliesTheir change to -HOW- you get Faction tokens just ensured that I won't be returning for the next Faction Rally. They took an already mind-numbing grind for the Faction Tokens, and made it worse with less reward. Nope. I'll easily skip that bullshit.
-
3 RepliesGrind or no grind? Which is it? Please decide, this back and forth is making me tired.
-
19 RepliesSo if you want more than about 5 packages your only logical choice goes right back to Public Events? Good lord. I don't understand the fascination they have with Public Events. Or the flipping tokens for that matter. Why on Earth can't the faction vendors just sell items?!
-
I wouldn't mind if Faction Rallies used Destiny 1 model's for the armor and guns, and make the weapon being offered as a reward an exotic version of the gun to create some real excitement, simple changes can really improve this but problem is Year 1 of Destiny 2 was already pre designed so expect the same old same old
-
1 ReplyYou could try having 3 fire team members loot 3 different lost sectors at the same time if it rewards the whole fire team, that way you get 9 each time.
-
1 ReplyIf you cap out your faction can you cash in tokens for rewards after the weekly reset?
