People are complaining because bungie had 3 years to work out what worked and what didn't work, and most of the stuff that worked and players enjoyed was removed from the game in D2.
By the end of D1 they had added core mechanics that are core mechanics such as strike scoring, strike medals, strike specific loot, being able to choose a game mode in Pvp and to be honest this has been a core feature in any FPS for the last 7 years. The list goes on.
Bungie stated themselves that D1 was a sort of test/trial to see what the game could be. By the end of year 3 they should have had a good idea of what worked. Then suddenly dropped half of it. The fear players are having now....'is all this stuff it took 3 years and 3 DLC to achieve going to take that long and that many DLCs to return if at all'
D2 should have all the core mechanics that players loved in D1 and then all the new stuff from D2 on top of that. Story and worlds are a good size that doesn't have to change just the basic mechanics it took so long to achieve in the first place.
Lost sectors should have specific loot or at least planetary loot, adventures should offer better gear because there actually pretty fun. There should be very little or no reskined weapons and armor in the game, faction rally is coming up and it's almost all reskins.
If a player who stopped playing destiny after vanilla returns in D2 there going to be presented with the same thing. They miss out on the transformation destiny went through and the final product.
This is a sequel, sequels are supposed to bring something new to the table and right now bungie have not delivered this.
I'm not complaining because I hate the game. It's the opposite. I and many others see the unbelievable Potential in this game that bungie keep missing the mark on. Especially in D2 because this time we have seen what bungie are capable off. I don't want destiny to become a game like COD where I settle for the same thing every time. Where is the horde mode? Where is the large team battles? Where is the secret exotic missions? Where is the 'new'

Please clarify "returning" players. I read that term as someone that left D1 at some point and have decided to give a new release a try. To me, under this definition, "returning players" are the whiny little brats that couldn't handle a Destiny title to begin with. Why should they be catered to? Destiny 1 & 2 are what they are, flaws and triumphs. They simply cannot please everyone all of the time. To expect them too is both moronic and insane.

Edited by peelinbakcaps: 9/24/2017 12:02:32 AMYeah seeing the "new" gear and weapons being offered from the factions really took a lot of the enthusiasm out of the game for me, is this what we have to expect from iron banner? Will we only get new gear in dlc's if so then it feels like d1 all over again. A game that was chopped up and sold to us peace by peace. As it stands now I only play a few crucible matches a day and only do most of my gaming after reset to complete my weekly milestone.its sad I like the mechanics of the game as well as all the art style, but the lack of choices or much loot to grind and chase makes it hard to spend much time on the game.

If they took out everything that players didnt like we would be playing COD.

4 RepliesWasn't the faction gear always a reskin?

6 RepliesWe'll have to give them some time and see what they do. I trust their decisions because look at it Destiny 1 never had much at the beginning but once it was around long enough everything got better.
