People are complaining because bungie had 3 years to work out what worked and what didn't work, and most of the stuff that worked and players enjoyed was removed from the game in D2.
By the end of D1 they had added core mechanics that are core mechanics such as strike scoring, strike medals, strike specific loot, being able to choose a game mode in Pvp and to be honest this has been a core feature in any FPS for the last 7 years. The list goes on.
Bungie stated themselves that D1 was a sort of test/trial to see what the game could be. By the end of year 3 they should have had a good idea of what worked. Then suddenly dropped half of it. The fear players are having now....'is all this stuff it took 3 years and 3 DLC to achieve going to take that long and that many DLCs to return if at all'
D2 should have all the core mechanics that players loved in D1 and then all the new stuff from D2 on top of that. Story and worlds are a good size that doesn't have to change just the basic mechanics it took so long to achieve in the first place.
Lost sectors should have specific loot or at least planetary loot, adventures should offer better gear because there actually pretty fun. There should be very little or no reskined weapons and armor in the game, faction rally is coming up and it's almost all reskins.
If a player who stopped playing destiny after vanilla returns in D2 there going to be presented with the same thing. They miss out on the transformation destiny went through and the final product.
This is a sequel, sequels are supposed to bring something new to the table and right now bungie have not delivered this.
I'm not complaining because I hate the game. It's the opposite. I and many others see the unbelievable Potential in this game that bungie keep missing the mark on. Especially in D2 because this time we have seen what bungie are capable off. I don't want destiny to become a game like COD where I settle for the same thing every time. Where is the horde mode? Where is the large team battles? Where is the secret exotic missions? Where is the 'new'

2 Repliesit's really annoying. also, what's this half measure matchmaking shit? this guided games thing is so stupid, just open up the matchmaking fully. why does it have to be 2 clan members I have to match with? it's so assinine to me. just make it matchmaking like any regular strike
-
2 RepliesI do agree with your point, but would like to say that strike scoring/medals were not in a paid dlc
-
TLDR; Instead of being a sequel that builds on D1, we have less activities and options than ever. And I agree.
-
"This is a sequel, sequels are supposed to bring something new to the table and right now bungie have not delivered this.
" You forget, this is now like Hollywood. Sequels are nothing about bringing something new to the table but all about milking a franchise for every last pound / dollar.

I stopped playing after of house of wolves. Came back because I thought D2 would be a whole new thing. It's not. Lack of guns and armour sucks.

1 ReplyBut as you Said many of the things they out into d1 where tests to see if it would work. By then the framework for d2 was already built and so. But I guess they will all return here as they saw what worked and what didn't. We are after all just a few weeks into d2. Sure I guess they could have postponed :d2 and added everything from the beginning. But we wanted it yesterday,,, and activision. I guess there is a bigger plan and so that we don't know anything about. They where quite good at keeping secrets about d2 after all. We that are veterans will get bored since we know the mechanics and kinda breeze thrue. But hopefully patches will bring d2 even more alive...

3 RepliesI'm torn, I really like destiny 2, but they trashed so much that they shouldn't have from destiny 1. Their story quest is better, but not longer. They simply added more cut scenes to make it appear longer. Plus they express delivered the story, they could have made it 10x longer easily. They added tons of ways to help low levels get loot, but made endgame super dull. So there really is no reason. It is just sad that I could be done with all the weekly activities in a 1.5 week old game. Back when I played Everquest2, you wouldn't even be halfway to max level in 2 weeks of gameplay during vanilla launch

I just can't believe it, the amount of stuff that got striped from D2? I brought this game hoping it would be all the good stuff from D1 and the new content from D2 mixed together to make the ultimate destiny game! But, look what we have.......
-
It's completely true. And, because this is relevant in my mind right now, I argued that the new weapon system would be ok and wouldn't be too bad and... I was wrong. I like it, but it's boring. Half the time I only play with 2 weapons and then remember that I have another primary.... I miss having a special and heavy slot...

I really enjoy the new exotic line. There is a new diversity there. A tractor cannon! lol awesome! I would also like to see something more done with lost sectors. However, I would like to see the LS specific drops that iv e seen quite a few people asking for be a bit different from the strike specific loot. We have four worlds that each have their own lost sectors, and so its natural to have planet themed gear. But what if we took it a bit further and gave the gear intrinsic perks that helped out with Public Event rewards, Planetary resources, rep tokens, glimmer drops on the world. And unlike most other gear, instead of gaining the rewards piece by piece, you get all of them all at once, but only as a percentage. So you get more of the benefits as you gain more items. Some of the gear could give their own extra bonus. TL;DR for the above, Make Lost Sector specific gear that is similar to Diablo set items. I would also like to see strike specific gear like there was in D1. I would also love to see some exotic mods!

cant blame old gen this time around for lack of content

17 RepliesBump. D1 ended on a high note. D2 took all that away and made a slightly better version of vanilla. They should have continued from where D1 left off, not completely revamp everything because reasons.

I'm a year 1 player. I payed NZ$170 for this & the next 2 DLC's. 3 weeks & I'm really wondering if I wasted my money. I too thought that D2 would build upon D1. Aside from the story, it did not.
-
1 ReplyI agree but, overall I do enjoy D2 more than even the final form of D1. NF needs to be returned to d1 and the raid needs a tweek.
-
3 RepliesStrike scoring is not core. Jumping , shooting, made, and supers are core. It was nice additions, but it came late after they had been working on D 2 for a long time.

5 RepliesDestiny 1 scoring systems made people have to slow down and deal with enemies instead of trying to rush through the game like the kitchen was on fire and they had to finish up before they put it out. If they would add like "score averages" to clans it would be interesting, maintaining a gold average with each clan member playing at least 10 strikes a week increases the odds of strike loot dropping, night falls are guaranteed to drop strike loot, have entire sets instead of specific weapons or armor, vex themed armor for the IO strike with a line rifle as a linear fusion rifle for a reward, maybe an auto rifle similar to the mythoclast. Nessus' strike could have fallen themed gear, so on... They make it sound like it's just SOOO hard to make this gear... The truth is they'r just gods damned lazy.
-
1 ReplyBoth mida weapons need removing now, everyone uses them as a crutch weapon, there's no diversity like the community cried out for in d1 and I'm sick of being killed by a gun that should have been left in the last game

Edited by R0GU3 ST4TU5: 9/24/2017 10:48:39 AMI honestly think this game caters to much to the COD side of gameplay. But what’s disappointing is that it’s all very general in selection of game play and loot. Borderlands 2 does way better in the FPS-RPG department of what this game is supposed to/trying to be, and to be frank if borderlands 3 dropped right now it would more than likely kill this franchise. What are they doing at the development offices? eating cake and chips with their snack dad shirts on? C’mon guys do your job, and do it right. On a side note though, they did post about how mandatory vacations from working on the game were in effect- I just don’t think this product is acceptable of that. Like, you guys just threw this together in between your vacations and think it’s ok? No it’s lazy. I expect a lot coming from bungie since playing through their previous titles. This title feels like there’s no real passion in it, and I joke around everyday with my clan members about how if we directed games like this, it’d more than likely win all awards from E3 for outstanding substance.

another thing is you can also no longer infuse armor from other classes like you could in D1, so you now require warlock armor to infuse into warlock armor and hunter armor for hunter armor and titan armor for titan armor. this slows down any possible infusions especially when in most cases patrols get a maximum of 285 power, this means that you require extreme luck from either crucible or raids. so it seems to me to be taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back.

Fan of fixed roll because you don't need five autos with the same stats? That's exactly what fixed rolls gives you, get one, delete it every time you get it again lol Random rolls, the chances of duplicate rolls were tiny lol
-
I WANT OLD ALPHA LUPHI ITS SO MUCH TRASH IN THIS GAME
-
5 Replies
faction rally is coming up and IT IS ALL RESKINS.
Just wanted to fix that for you. Dead orbit = EDZ Gear FWC = Nessus Gear New Monarchy = "additional gear" Kerak set for Titan, Errant Knight for Hunter, etc.
