People are complaining because bungie had 3 years to work out what worked and what didn't work, and most of the stuff that worked and players enjoyed was removed from the game in D2.
By the end of D1 they had added core mechanics that are core mechanics such as strike scoring, strike medals, strike specific loot, being able to choose a game mode in Pvp and to be honest this has been a core feature in any FPS for the last 7 years. The list goes on.
Bungie stated themselves that D1 was a sort of test/trial to see what the game could be. By the end of year 3 they should have had a good idea of what worked. Then suddenly dropped half of it. The fear players are having now....'is all this stuff it took 3 years and 3 DLC to achieve going to take that long and that many DLCs to return if at all'
D2 should have all the core mechanics that players loved in D1 and then all the new stuff from D2 on top of that. Story and worlds are a good size that doesn't have to change just the basic mechanics it took so long to achieve in the first place.
Lost sectors should have specific loot or at least planetary loot, adventures should offer better gear because there actually pretty fun. There should be very little or no reskined weapons and armor in the game, faction rally is coming up and it's almost all reskins.
If a player who stopped playing destiny after vanilla returns in D2 there going to be presented with the same thing. They miss out on the transformation destiny went through and the final product.
This is a sequel, sequels are supposed to bring something new to the table and right now bungie have not delivered this.
I'm not complaining because I hate the game. It's the opposite. I and many others see the unbelievable Potential in this game that bungie keep missing the mark on. Especially in D2 because this time we have seen what bungie are capable off. I don't want destiny to become a game like COD where I settle for the same thing every time. Where is the horde mode? Where is the large team battles? Where is the secret exotic missions? Where is the 'new'

3 RepliesBeing 100% honest with you? Bungie is in a "Comfort Zone". While many people will see the game as a downgrade and avoid it, they have the guaranteed public wich will go as far as buying shit if Bungie decides to pack it and sell. Worse, these people refuse to see that the game is a downgrade and attack anyone that disagrees with them.

6 RepliesAnything that was fun was taken away. Like Thorn day one Thorn was just beast and should have had a whole class of burn weapons made from it.

2 RepliesThey've made d2 just so sloooooowww... Everything about the game looks good but the cool downs on everything from supers and grenades to reloading.. BUT THE MAIN SHIT IS 2 -blam!-ING PRIMARY WEAPONS IS A LOAD OF DONKEY CRAP.. I only use the kinetic when I have no ammo left. Also why do I keep running out of ammo in this game. It's just so stupid how much has changed yet stayed the same. 1 more thing that Annoys the shit outta me is when shoulder barging or striking someone with the shield or the flaming hammer seems to do alot more damage to me than the opponent.

I think when you say mechanics you mean "features". Just an observation. The mechanics are still there, and the features you're worried about, core or not, take time to develop (yes, beyond even the "three whole years" Bungie was working on the sequel). Be patient, these things are probably coming, everyone was just used to a certain thing for a while. Who knows, maybe they have something even better in mind for strike specific rewards and we'll all be pleasantly surprised. You can either be an optimist or a pessimist. Which sounds like more fun?

I wish they would nerf the complainers.

i'm sure a lot of that is coming, but they held it back intentionally as DLC for the next 2 years

16 RepliesEdited by DarkForceLegend: 9/24/2017 7:33:53 AM😂 I really don't think you know what core mechanics are. 😂 In large, the "core" mechanics are there, and improved in my opinion. Take the weapon system for example. While a lot of people enjoyed the original Destiny weapon layout, it was very lacking. What I feel, people liked about it was the fact that you could dish out a lot of damage with a rocket launcher and a sniper. Was it fact though? Maybe. The new weapon system allows for great verity on the battlefield. Allow me to explain. In the original Destiny you had a primary, a special, and a heavy. Ok, we all are aware of this I know, but look at the layout. To make things simple, we will use vanilla Destiny. Your primary was great for all around, but you had Auto rifles, pulse rifles, scout rifles, and hand cannons. The only weapons that were truly great all around were pulse rifles and auto rifles. Bungie for some reason hated the fact that more people like auto rifles, and in turn nerfed them into the ground. So pulse rifles were the go to gun for a wide range of combat. Now you have your special, in which are elemental. You have your shotgun, fusion rifle, and a sniper. The thing with these weapons are, they are highly situational. You have to be right on top of something with a shotgun to kill it. Snipers aren't much better, where you have to be nearly out of combat for it to be really viable. Not really, but yea. Fusion rifles, the new space shotgun! Great at all ranges but a pain to shoot! I think I made my point with that last one. The bigger point though, is that all these weapons are VERY situational. Just agree for now... 😜 Now into heavy! Rocket launchers and machine guns, the other back up weapon. Like why? You can choose from insta mash or gradual disintegration! Gotta take on a boss? Then use Gjallarhorn! It didn't matter what it was, Gjallarhorn could **** it up. It was almost pointless to chose anything else. What was the point? Oh right! Another back up because the special weapons are highly situational. So your ideal build became pulse rifle, fusion rifle, Gjallarhorn. That's partly what Bungie had done. If it was going to be a really long range battle, which very few were or needed to be. You would swap out your fusion for a sniper. If you were going to be in the frey a lot or a Titan in crucible, then you used a shotgun. But now! All those primary types have purpose! Now your battle superiority can span close range to mid range, mid range to long range, or even be any mixture of what ever you desire. You have a kinetic weapon to deal with the common folk, and an energy weapon to deal with those pesky shields in any shape and flavor you like! Lastly, you now have ALL situational weapons in the last slot. Need to deal with baddies with a lot of health close up, use a shot gun! What about far away, use a sniper! What about dealing with the occasional horde, use a grenade launcher or rocket launcher! So, do you get it now? Why it had to change? I'm sure you still may not like it, but everything is better for it. Battle is so much funner now! Is funner a word? It is now! That my friend is a core mechanic, whether you get loot from a specific game mode is not. Core mechanics change the entire dynamic of the game. Bungie can easily add the option for players to select game modes or give players very special loot. My goal here was to learn people some stuff... 😂 I hope I was successful in that. I wanted to give people a perspective that was different then what they may have been accustom to, and explain the difference in mechanics and how they effect us as players. Sure, I have my bias as do you, but if we can identify that and come to understand that we are all different and like different things. We, perhaps, can come to some middle ground. Enjoy! 😁

1 ReplyLook at all the people that give their “reasoning” against your points. I honestly wonder if they’re children(I hope) or just... special.

Strikes were really fun to grind in D1, but Bungie have dramatically slowed them down. Plus, with no strike specific loot, they've become meaningless. And don't get me started on them removing heroic strikes. PVP is fun, but it has been slowed down too. Supremacy was fun in D1, but every match seems to go time. Some of the maps are just too big for 4v4. Destiny 2 isn't a bad game, it just is quite confusing at times. There is no prolong chase, for anything really, and thus the grind is pretty non-existence.
-
I agree. Everything they fixed through TTK and ROI is just gone. We have a beefed up version of Vanilla Destiny that's been streamlined

12 RepliesVeteran here. Not complaining...

29 RepliesPeople are complaining because people like to complain. End of story. This game could be hand picked from the gods and people would still find something to whine about. The majority of us are enjoying it for what it is, not nitpicking every fine detail and demanding a game that is tailored to our needs.
-
I just complain because there isn't strike specific gear. That's it really.
-
I mean the core mechanics and gameplay loop is the same. Even then all people did during D1, from beta till the end, was complain.
-
5 RepliesI'm a beta player and the only thing I have against this game so far is the flawless carries. Yes I know there is no way to prevent it but it still grinds my gears as a filthy casual pvper that I get tromped every other match by a group of 2-3 flawless guys carrying one scrub.
-
They are complaining because they keep finding the same stuff that drove them away.

Lul the core mechanics are the same. You jump the same, shoot the same, the list goes on. Are you one of those people who are mad that you need the same weapon or class armor item to infuse? Or that you need mods? Those are minor issues and fine because it gives hardcores something to grind for since they made the rest of the game literally plug and play for the casual audience. Also if you were around for year 1 of the first game you would know that we got so much more this time around. And that stuff is going to come in some form or another. They have to pace out the content to string us all along. Basic game industry practice now days weather you like it or not.

Complainers will complain
no spoiler
1 ReplyI completely agree with you. There's this video I just saw yesterday that really nails it perfectly. Yes, it's almost 55 minutes but believe me, it's time well spent.

Just give up on bungie already. Not playing & money speak the most. I'm not waiting 3 more years & 5 DLC for another compete game
-
Its going to get sold to us later after some overhyped advertising of guardian's breakdancing in a custom match with all the faction npcs with shaxx on the dj tables. Then the destiny " community" will rejoice like they did at the reveal when that boring guy on the stage said there will be strikes.........
-
AMEN! Great post.

Right, I think my disappointment went through the roof when I found out that we were basically playing month 1 destiny 1 again. So much was removed and we're going to have to pay to get it back, it's utter BS.

Edited by Silly: 9/24/2017 12:17:35 PMPc player here, At D1 release got a PS4 just for it, ~1800 hrs played and mostly pvp, now reading all this making me think to cancel my pre-order on pc before it is too late, the lack of features that already existed in D1 is horrifying like seriously bungie you fked up.

2 Repliesit's really annoying. also, what's this half measure matchmaking shit? this guided games thing is so stupid, just open up the matchmaking fully. why does it have to be 2 clan members I have to match with? it's so assinine to me. just make it matchmaking like any regular strike
