People are complaining because bungie had 3 years to work out what worked and what didn't work, and most of the stuff that worked and players enjoyed was removed from the game in D2.
By the end of D1 they had added core mechanics that are core mechanics such as strike scoring, strike medals, strike specific loot, being able to choose a game mode in Pvp and to be honest this has been a core feature in any FPS for the last 7 years. The list goes on.
Bungie stated themselves that D1 was a sort of test/trial to see what the game could be. By the end of year 3 they should have had a good idea of what worked. Then suddenly dropped half of it. The fear players are having now....'is all this stuff it took 3 years and 3 DLC to achieve going to take that long and that many DLCs to return if at all'
D2 should have all the core mechanics that players loved in D1 and then all the new stuff from D2 on top of that. Story and worlds are a good size that doesn't have to change just the basic mechanics it took so long to achieve in the first place.
Lost sectors should have specific loot or at least planetary loot, adventures should offer better gear because there actually pretty fun. There should be very little or no reskined weapons and armor in the game, faction rally is coming up and it's almost all reskins.
If a player who stopped playing destiny after vanilla returns in D2 there going to be presented with the same thing. They miss out on the transformation destiny went through and the final product.
This is a sequel, sequels are supposed to bring something new to the table and right now bungie have not delivered this.
I'm not complaining because I hate the game. It's the opposite. I and many others see the unbelievable Potential in this game that bungie keep missing the mark on. Especially in D2 because this time we have seen what bungie are capable off. I don't want destiny to become a game like COD where I settle for the same thing every time. Where is the horde mode? Where is the large team battles? Where is the secret exotic missions? Where is the 'new'

26 RepliesThe Taken King expansion added way, way more content, fixed more issues and made more quality of life changes than this "sequel" has. And they did it all without taking things away. Think about that.

Well said.

I complain because it appears all the progress they made with the d1 dlcs has been reset back to the beginning. The game has been simplified for the average player and has zero depth. It feels as if they want us to just tune in for reset and then leave once we complete the few activities. There's nothing to keep people in the game past that.

Perfectly said, it's a shame they had to take away so many improvements, but still keep micro transactions of course. Not a fan of the new shader system at all as well, pretty terrible that they are single use

I hate the timer effect on the nightfall but I am not ranting on like a five year old in the forums about it. Well to put it flat out what I’m saying here is that Destiny 2 is a whole new game branches off from destiny 1 and it should not have any of the same mechanics that d1 had so for that sorry if I feel like this is ranting because someone is complaining about how a game is playing the way they wanted it just either enjoy the game or just not have to goon the forums a put up anything about a game that isn’t even had any of its dlc out.

10 RepliesEdited by Calculus-Entropy: 9/24/2017 1:52:48 PM
This is a sequel, sequels are supposed to bring something new to the table and right now bungie have not delivered this.
Shaders- people cried for shaders on weapons and now have them on everything. (Now they cry about them. Use them and be a big boy/girl and get more) Strike scoring- was tedious and gay (lmao at considering it a "core mechanic"). The new challenge system is 10x more interesting. Strike medals were equally as stupid. I'm sure strike specific loot is on the way, but right now there is plenty of "new" loot from various sources (planet specific loot). Choosing your own pvp mode- idk about you, but lag (especially in QP) seems near non-existent. 5k people near me playing 2 modes or 5k people near me playing 12 modes at that exact minute I que. 4v4 may help to address this too, but I don't believe you complained about this yet. You could also complain about not having random weapon rolls, although people cried like babies over bad rolls/perks and other people getting God rolls not being "fair". You could cry about the story, although I felt as though I was much more a part of this one, instead of just doing somewhat related "missions". People complained for years about D1, and this is not D1. Now everybody wants this game to include every aspect of D1. Although, these are also the same people that expect 8hrs of new content each week for the $59 they spent.

Talking to Bungie=Talking to a wall.
-
Its a simple matter of taking one step forward and a hundred steps back. I feal like i'm playing D1 back when they first released it and before they began fixing anything in it.
-
1 ReplySad but true Bungie should listen to the forums or sub Reddit. They had a good game at the end of d1. They tried to fix so many things that never needed fixing. One more thing since I saw no post about it..... Where are the ornaments for armor and tex mechanica foundry? Trials ornament and vog armor looked so good with ornaments.

4 RepliesBeen here since second week of vanilla d1. I honestly like the game.better. its better, the PvP is the one thing that threw me off and is throwing off a lot of my mates who were gods in it and some left for a bit because its frustrating, I was too but I got.used to it. The one thing I dont like is that there is no new activity added for endgame. Basically after nf and raid and flashpoint and call to arms its over. And trials but the thing is that there could have been more things. You know the one thing they should've kept was armour ornaments. Back in d1 I went flawless in trials just for the hunter cloak ornament and I raided just to have all the raid armours ornamented which I did and it was fun, I think the raid so far had dispaointed me in showing even a remote ornament system into it. I'm not fond of the nf timer but whatever, stuff like this will change I can promise you that but it will be a while before it does.

11 RepliesI have played all day and managed to go from 268 to 272 power. This game is just not for me any more - I can't spend a day burning pointless armour and getting no exotic drops. I spent 1 hour in EDZ public events and got 1 legendary. This game is not broken. It's pointless. I can't get into a raid party because I'm below 280 and it's taken hours just to get from 260 to 272 - I don't have that kind of time for such small rewards.

4 RepliesPvE is great. It's limited, but great. I enjoy it for what it's worth. Still haven't maxed out because I like to take my time grinding. It burns me out if I no life a video game for a few numbers. But PvP. That disgusting shite needs to go. If I had a one time use do-over button, I would use it in hopes Bungie would have done a better job with their hand holding "team based" Chickenshit Simulator 2017. It's team based alright. You can't do anything without a teammate up your ass 😂 GG Bungie. GG.

There are in fact a lot of differences, and if I cared enough I would state them here, but it really doesn’t matter. You do you man.

-
I remember when everyone was pissed that house of wolves didn't have a raid that was promised The expansions for this game could be anything or nothing

3 RepliesA D1 beta guy here, been with the series since then. I had huge doubts about D2, but the size and fleshed out patrol zones sold me. D2 is much better than Vanilla D1, but I too feel now the same as 3 years ago. What am I doing? Why am I even playing this game? The raid, nightfall, and pvp are the only meaningful content left to play. But, I have only scratched the surface of lost sectors and adventures. There is actually quite a lot left to play, but I'm already 290+. I believe the problem was too much loot. We hit power 265 too fast. The lost sectors and adventures became pointless too soon. The story and side quests were knocked out much too early.

Yet the games progression in player power is not determined by playing the game. Rather by RNG and numbers. That's not how an action game should do it. Progression should not devolve into a chase for a number. Rather the games progression should be a chase for abilities. It is an action FPS after all. Cosmetics are in the same boat and should all be something you earn through gameplay. Kill this many enemies, play this mission, play this challenge etc. It's an action FPS. Mission scenario design needs an overhaul. There are still way to many wave missions. It all relies too heavily on the players kit to provide variety rather than just offering something fresh. This is a mistake, you can't do that when you yourself have designed it to be possible not to change anything. Not to mention player customization is too shallow to do this anyway. Chasing numbers and RNG is not a substitute for lacking content or interest in general. Don't get me started on the writing and story. The music and art/presentation are the only things that are consistently top notch. Though even that could be criticized. This can be summed up as style over substance.

That’s well put! Sadly they seriously dropped the ball on d2 . It could’ve been the best. It’s another experiment that we paid money for . Don’t get me wrong I’m enjoying it but the game has serious flaws that were corrected back in d1 . Makes no sense

Everyone is entitled to their opinions

Well said.

If the development that was anything like D1, activision pulled at least half of the content to ship it as elf. I like d2, and I do wish there was more, but that's my theory.

Well put.

Destiny 2 is boring.

I agree with you, but we're just "whining crybabies".

1 ReplyI do get the feeling that Bungie has learned very little in the last 3 years. At least the story is great this time around.

3 RepliesBeing 100% honest with you? Bungie is in a "Comfort Zone". While many people will see the game as a downgrade and avoid it, they have the guaranteed public wich will go as far as buying shit if Bungie decides to pack it and sell. Worse, these people refuse to see that the game is a downgrade and attack anyone that disagrees with them.
