I mean really. Sombra helps out the team in so many ways yet everyone treats her like she is completely useless.
I mean seriously. Sombra can turn invisible and can easily flank the enemy team. Sombra's translocator is also just as effective and not only are these two abilities making her one of the best flanking heroes, it also makes her one of and, possibly, the most mobile hero in the game with the boost to speed and teleportation to any area.
Her most useful and most defining trait Sombra has is her hacking ability. You can hack turrets, small health packs, large health packs, and enemy abilities. Turrets get disabled, health packs charge faster and heal more for teammates but enemies can't use them, and enemy abilities are cancelled and made temporarily useless. While she can normally only do one thing at a time, charge her EMP ultimate and she can hack everything within a very decent radius.
So next time you see a purple skull on a health pack or a giant digital explosion, give some credit to your Sombra. She is supporting the team in so many more ways other than killing. She is the one boosting your health when your Mercy is dead and making kills easier to get.
Fun fact for players: Sombra feels and acts more like a support hero rather than a offensive hero because she was originally going to be in the support category.
The problem with people playing Sombra is that she is a character that requires a lot of communication to work properly, and when on console it's rare to even have 4 people in chat, she becomes a lot less useful.

1 ReplyCan I just say that Genji players in Overwatch are really under appreciated..
I NEED HEALING
5 RepliesSombra: hacks me. Me: kills sombra with my primary fire because she thinks she isn't trash and decides to have a stand off.
-
Paper and practice, two different things. When I play only the surprise sombra works, and then it doesn't.
-
Dude I love playing sombra !! She and junkrat are my favs !!
-
Tmw Sombra has all the health packs next to a king of the hill objective hacked
-
You do make her sound amazing. She is quite an effective and mayhem-wreaking attacker, but she "isnt the meta" for obscure reasons. I like the way you think. And she's Mexican. She crossed the border from support to attacker for better jobs. Soldier is still trying to deport her.
-
Well, yeah, but she isn't soldier so she's bad. Wait, no, soldier only does 19 damage. He's a throw pick.
-
3 RepliesI agree wholeheartedly, but that digital explosion is, 99 times out of ten, a panic ult

3 RepliesEdited by Dharak Colossus: 6/12/2017 11:19:00 PMWhen I run Sombra, I more than usually target the pocketing mercy from 15m away. So i just hack her, she pitifully attempts escape and I get the kill. Other targets would be Zen - easier kill since discord is disabled Mei - (better fought when weak or supported by teammate) She can't panic cryostasis or wall Tracer - "Sit the -blam!- down brit bitch" Genji - Less likely to escape, attempt hack when deflecting. Pharah - Cannot escape (as easily) without thrust. Can also be grounded mid-air Torbhoe & Turret - Cannot self heal using armour, or place turrets as distractions. Turret should be avoided at all costs unless distracted, will disrupt all hacks. Chodehog - No self-healing mid combat or hooks for easy picks (best fought with help) Winston - Hacked either ulting or not to ground. Reinhardt - enough said Orisa - No last stand fortify. Headshots deal devastating damage to uncannily large head hitbox. Ana - No sleep or Nano Grenade. Hanzo - No scatter shot to deal close-range damage quickly, stay mobile, beware sonar as it can show you cloaked. Mccree - No roll or Flash. Both vital for close range combat. D.va - Enough said Zarya - Avoid without team support, primary fire is good for stopping hacks Lucio - Attempt hack when amping heal, cannot easily be countered as switch and boop are turned off when amping. Cannot switch to speed and get away easily.

Edited by The Boss Harmony: 6/12/2017 4:20:46 PMI wish I would get a good Sombra in my team more often. There were a lot of Sombras around shortly after she was new and they were ok but after that I haven't seen much of her. The three good I had were amazing, always attacking and hacking enemies from behind enabling quick kills for the rest of us, always hacking valuable medpacks and just when you thought the enemy had you by the balls - boom, Sombra Ulti! Was lovely.
-
Sombra does a little too much damage for a support character but is still in the squishy group. The main problem with Sombra is that she is pretty useless for that last rush when just about any other character would be better.
-
Sombra is a really good damage dealer, players don't respect that. Namely the enemy and then they die because of it. Not saying she's the best mind you, but very respectable lol.
-
I really like playing Sombra. She can be super useful for a team, but also trash if the player is bad. I don't play Sombra too often unfortunately, it's mostly my bae, Mei that get's played. Mei is super fun to play and kind of unfair on consoles since most people have poor aim and can't kill you fast enough before you freeze them
-
1 ReplyI like Sombra's skill set, getting behind enemy lines; and quickly getting out, is an invaluable asset.
-
Most of the ones I face are complete wusses. Throw a teleporter, hack me thinking I'll be like a fish out of water and do no damage, realize that I'm good without abilities, run away, repeat until I've set up a trap to deal more damage faster and kill them to end this pitiful cycle.
-
11 RepliesBut someone who knows how to play sombra well is rare. A ton of them just like to hack a health kit, and teleport to that place over and over. Then they spam "My EMP is charged" while your team is still sitting on 50-60% charge, and even though you say that they'll still EMP 3 players and get mad when they die and you guys don't capture the point claiming "That was our push!" Not to mention her hack is only viable on some heros. Reaper, Solider, McCree, D.va, Hanzo, Junkrat, Pharah, and more are completely unfazed by a hack. While slightly irritated, any good player could deal with her while hacked. Case in point she can't replace solider in a match especially if your team already has hanzo or genji, and we all know how often they're picked and won't switch. There's also the point that players will not pick a second support because "Sombra hacks health kits." If you have a zarya on your team, run sombra, the ult combo is amazing. But it's rare you can find a sombra and zarya who are working together

2 Repliestrue. She still needs a buff though. Her cloak should be active in a second or less. not 2 like currently. and hacking should only be stopped by cc. and she should get increased damage for people who meet the requirement for her passive to see them.
-
Edited by BLEEHOW97: 6/11/2017 5:53:48 PMShe definitely needs a buff though, specifically to when she gets out of invisibility. Its -blam!-ing stupid how she just yells "HERE I AM" when that ability ends. Also I feel she could use just a slight damage buff just to make her a bit more viable as a DPS Also she has some bugs to her translocator ability, at least on PS4. Sometimes you'll press the button to throw it and nothing will happen, so you have to press it again. Also when teleporting back to where your translocator is, the game has a bad problem with taking a long time to realize you've translocated. Many MANY times I've pressed the button to teleport and I'll be gone walking around where I teleported for like 2 seconds and then suddenly die because a Torb turret was still hitting me from before I teleported somehow. It's very frustrating. Overall though she's my favorite character in the game right now. She's so much fun
-
2 RepliesThe Sombra problem isn't that she is bad, anyone who thinks so doesn't know what they are talking about. The Sombra problem is that she doesn't fit anywhere into a normal team composition. She isn't good DPS, so you shouldn't be playing her in place of something like Soldier or McCree. But at the same time, she isn't an adequate support hero, and playing her in that slot will sacrifice lots of valuable healing. She requires the most team synergy of any hero in the game, which is why you only see her working effectively at the pro level. She isn't bad, just doesn't fit.
-
3 RepliesHacked health packs don't heal more silly, but anyhow, definitely a great hero in the right hands. I'm trying to make "the right hands" my hands but it's hard.
-
I'm kinda getting better at using her abilities but I sometimes just end up using her like solider. She does good damage with nice accuracy. Everyone's dead. And her passive ability makes it easy to pick my targets and get the jump on weak enemies. She is a Mei stopper
-
I think that they should buff her so that hacking doesn't make any sound, because it's pretty hard to sneak up and hack someone when the sound broadcasts my position to the entire enemy team. Plus it doesn't make sense lore wise. What is producing the sound and why would she make it audible when she is trying to do things quietly?
