Now the strike is totally doable and is NOT impossible and personally I really like it. With that said, the boss fight is so poorly executed it sort of ruins the experience.
Whoever thought making the ogre invincible should never be allowed to make a strike again. Demote them to coffee runs please.
There is absolutely NO reason why this ogre should invincible. As it stands, the Ogre is the toughest boss in Destiny period. How can a stupid strike side boss be stronger (ie cannot die) than a Hive God King or SIVA infused archon prime or the times conflux Atheon??? Honestly why didn't the Hive just make that ogre their king and take over the universe that way. It makes no sense. I understand that killing the ogre would trivialize the encounter but its just a broken mess as it stands now. If there is any sort of burn, the boss fight becomes tedious and anti-fun. Arc burn? The billion shanks will melt you. Solar burn? The dregs and vandals. Void burn? Omg are you kidding me with that boss gun? It takes negative seconds to kill you. Burns should be a new layer but not a "-blam!- YOU" to the players. Especially with 3 randoms in a simple heroic strike.
Here are my suggestions:
Give the Ogre a massive health pool. Something like Golgoroth (but without the DPS orb mechanic).
Put an aggro spot on the back of the ogre (or better yet, where his eye used to be) so theres no more random aggro like it is now. This will promote better team work.
Give the player a mechanic to "stun" the ogre with SIVA bombs maybe limit this to 3 times. Because the stupid thing runs faster than you at a certain point. Because being chased by him around cover while also being shot at by adds and the boss just isn't fun.
If players decide to burn the ogre and kill him (or... her?) give the splicer priest an enrage mechanic to offset there being no more ogre. Maybe SIVA mites that heal him after not being damaged after "x" amount of seconds. Or a secondary attack of some kind like Rockets Mcdickface. Or just more armor / HP if you Bungos are really lazy.
Edit: reading comprehension MOTHER-blam!-ER!... Do you have it?
Edit: I dare you to tell me how to do this fight one more time, I swear tell me ONE MORE MOTHER-blam!-ING TIME!

8 RepliesLearn aggro control. There's nothing difficult in that strike.

3 RepliesI like the strike. It has a great design for movement and team work. If you get the aggro mechanics you can control this fight for is entirety. Strike is a total difference compared to the others. Ogre is invincible because it is a lifeless husk on siva life support and hardened by splicer experiments, so think super zombie with its brain inside its master's weapon. I completely disagree with any part of your post. Happy hunting

... Honestly why didn't the Hive just make that ogre their king and take over the universe that way. ...
This is the best quote from OP! It basically says it all. The Ogre is a nonsense in that strike and, while the strike is do-able (bar void burn nightfall) it's a complete joke that the entire fire team can be wiped by actually concentrating on the boss fight!

Im almost certain that at one point, the ogre was phogoth, and he had a health bar. Its just that he died if you killed kovik, so there was that double whammy. Except there was still an incentive to be all: "youre a pain in the ass. (Shoot lots of times with many bullets) there, now lets focus on kovik" But then i believe they changed it, if im not mistaken. If this is all true, then it furthers your point that whomever updated the ogre to being non-killable is a straight up idiot. Also makes the strike both doable and to a degree, harder/easier (depending on any burns, people you play with, etc),but probly more fun and not make us wanna bash our faces against a concrete pillar

1 ReplyWas doing this in the weekly strike playlist and even tho it was void burn, randoms were running out of cover to get ohk, using non void subclasses and not void weapons. They would always quit and I'll get another team doing exactly the same. After a few teams I just quit it just got too frustrating.

3 RepliesSpeak for yourself please. I find this raid to be extremely fun, and the invincible ogre chasing you around is both unique and hilarious. I've laughed so much during this strike every time I play it, I don't want it to change and I certainly don't want my favorite ogre in the game to be nerfed. This strike is challenging and fun, like Destiny should be.

The biggest problem with this strike is that about 95% of us are blueberries when we do it. So we don't communicate in strikes. As a result, every strike boss has 3 battles battles being fought : - adds - boss - other players (helping or hindering YOUR plan) So maybe we should start using our mics... In this particular strike, add a lore breaking immortal giant angry toddler, and it must make for great neutral viewing. That said OP, your suggestions certainly would make it more enjoyable

Or ....... you could just jump when he slams .... no damage taken . He will start to chase your friends who are causing damage on main boss ...... Your idea is cool but way to much work for them to do .... sorry buddy.

6 RepliesThis Strike is Focussed on mobility. You can't just cower behind cover taking random pop-shots. Bungie have said countless times this whole DLC is about mobility. If you find this Strike difficult I would suggest you don't have very good tactical awareness. You need to stop ADS and pay attention to what is happening around you. When the ogre gets close; move.

4 RepliesI like this guy... he gets it. even if its just a 3 second stun effect for lobbing a grenade into the ogre's empty skull cavity causing it to lose sense of where everyone is for a moment. thats all I'd ask. its invulnerability is bullshit yeah but if bungie just can't learn to let go of that idea then just remove the friggin adds... the ogre is more than a handfull enough.

Does the the wretched ogre look like a birch?

Tell that b!tch to be cool! Say, b!tch be cool! SAY, B!TCH BE COOL!!! #PulpFiction #NoAggro

Just go to orbit
-
I would prefer if the ogre would follow what shot at him so we could get the priest to blast the ogre to smash on him until it was brought into control.
-
An agro spot would be nice.
-
Have your 3rd kite the ogre while 2 dps you cant dmg him but you can still draw aggro by popping it and staying near it by jumping to avoid his slam
-
And people want match making in raids... Personally I think it's lame that you can't even stun the ogre. However this strike is a perfect way for people new to the game or younger gentlemen to practice their communication skills.

2 RepliesEdited by IKEABOSS123: 10/25/2016 8:55:44 AMThis strike gets out of control if you damage the priest to quickly. As all the add mobs trigger off of pre-set health levels, people who burn him down (including me) end up with all the adds (especially the fricking shanks) arriving in close order. I actually like the ogre despite the fact it keeps killing me, it's an attack rather than a mob. You can have a hunter kite him around the area (we used a hunter because they can jump over him easily). It's not an easy strike by any means and I will admit that I ended up going to orbit a few times when it comes up on the heroic list with void or arc burn (those shanks....) Killing the ogre would, imo be a waste of ammo. If you made him a bullet sponge style mob and focused him down, what are you planning on doing with the teleporting guy with a kill everything cannon? I like some of the year 2 and 3 strikes (and Taniks, everyone loves Taniks right..) because you can't speed run them. I'm not someone that's farmed Omnigul for hours or cheesed this or that strike, I enjoy them rather than find them an inconvenient obstruction to getting strike gear or engrams. But I'm weird like that, I enjoy pve...

IMO, if they just made the ogre run around aimlessly slamming about everywhere, and not lock on a target, the strike would be fine. That way you'd still have to keep an eye on him and get out of his way, and it would make more sense too, he has no eye FFS.
-
lol just use the cheese spot.

8 RepliesEdited by TFL Washington: 10/25/2016 3:41:32 AMMy main problem are the damn boss arenas and the free reign that bosses get in them for all Y2 strikes and beyond. There's no cover and no where to stop for even a second to just catch your breath because the boss and 1 million and 1 enemies will be on you in a second. You just have to keep sprinting and hope that you can avoid fire. It's annoying and tedious. It's artificial difficulty at its finest. And it feeds into problems like the one you mentioned here with the ogre.
