Not my words, those of the Bungie lead pvp designer, Mantis:

It's attitudes like that which make me throw money at the screen
Edit:
Another thread in #Destiny, started before mine about the same tweet, if people want to see others thoughts, and share their ideas their too:

Just throw money at twitchers youtubers and streamers one day light house will be yours for low donations of $20 -$100 lol thanks for the armor bungie

1 ReplyIt was fine the way it was in year 1. You play whoever you get matched against not by the scorecard.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Tibbaryllis2: 10/24/2016 8:15:34 PMRegardless of your opinion on trials, this is the same guy that made pvp more competitive by making matchmaking skill based, and he likes skill based mm so much that he didn't apply it to the only competitive pvp mode. He has also tweeted that party size isn't factored in at all, despite telling us in Y1 that pre made teams of greater than 3 will match one another after the December 2014. I'd tread carefully before riding his jock.

His game, his rules. I think he is correct. And I am likely to never go to the lighthouse, much as I would like to.
-
1 ReplyI think it should be changed to filling out the too card and only once per event. After that it can switch to flawless if you get a flawless run you are rewarded with another trip to the light house and a key to open a chest with a random exotic. This way there is no pay for lighthouse runs.
-
17 RepliesI think you're missing the point of people's annoyances somewhat..... Most people understand that getting there shouldn't be easy, just like completing a raid. The problem is- - the amount of cheaters using DDOS etc and going unpunished - the number of people "carrying" and making money by going flawless 100 times a weekend - the lack of skill based matchmaking (e.g. a bracket system) People don't mind losing, but regularly getting cheated on 8-0 tends to rub people up the wrong way.....
-
It's completely laughable that you say average players should not see the lighthouse when you sit back each week and watch your little puppeteer streamers carrying weak players for money. Another one of them dumb throw money at the screen times.😳
-
18 RepliesI would have to disagree. How does Mentis define "average"? I'm average yet I've seen the lighthouse. It's all about team work. My team and I have beaten sweats, those whose Elo is 300-500 above ours. Don't kill the dreams of the average player!
-
5 RepliesThere are no special snowflakes, we all brought the same game. Get over yourself. Would you buy a product you can only partially enjoy? Would you purchase a television that only allowed you to watch odd channels unless you got a specialist to come in once a week so you can watch every channel? Probably not. People aren't striving to get better in order to get to the lighthouse, their paying their way in or receiving pity from other gamers to get in. So technically it's not THE BEST OF THE BEST, it's just content most of your player base will never experience. Only a portion experience the raid, only a portion participates in IB, only a fraction compete in ToO. I'm sure Bungie intended to fracture their community with activities the average gamer can't or will never experience. Casuals are the reason gaming is a profitable industry, bottom line.

I'm never going flawless :(
-
9 RepliesI'm an average player. And I've been to the lighthouse 20 times. 3 of those were last week. Just have to communicate well and team shot people. And have a few clutch plays in between.
-
This, more of this.
-
2 RepliesWas it intended for players who are more than capable of going to the lighthouse but can't because of awful connection problems, a terrible lag compensator, and the fact that his pulse rifle is better than mine by default in every situation just because he's been to the lighthouse already?
-
They will never fix trials due to the streamers who support bungee. The more money streamers make off of trials the more money streamers can send bungles way in form of donations
-
Hes telling it like it is.
-
15 RepliesI like the idea of a rumble style Trials. Top 3 move on to next round. Keep going for 5 more games and on the last game, top 3 go to lighthouse. No fireteam, no caries, no crying!
-
I stopped playing trials and I found happiness. trials is what made this game bad for me. then there is not much PVE content hell I haven't done the pve content i have already. ..just tired of fighting the same enemies over and over and over.
-
5 RepliesThe Walking Dead season 7, Glenn and Abraham die.
-
You guys just need to find something else to do with your time F*** a lighthouse
-
2 RepliesYes but his tweet doesn't address the real problem: carries. More above average players would go to the lighthouse if not for the nonstop trials carries all weekend preventing countless teams from the lighthouse.
-
It's so funny. Keep coming out with your new and improved ideas. All your whining and moaning. It ain't going to change a thing. We can all play trials. Only the best will succeed. "Working as intended"
-
That's fair enough, but it's a shame it's so monetised, with all the streamers clogging it up.
-
I would just like it to be a social space if they expand the universe.
-
6 RepliesNo, the point of trials was for bungie to give something to the streamers so they would keep playing destiny. By making it win based match making you alienate a huge group of people who are now willing to either pay, follow, sub ect, streamers to get flawless runs. If it was still cbmm like it should be the streamers wouldn't be boosting their views like crazy in destiny. This little part of destiny is a niche for the streamers to gain followers, view and money. Period. And Untill it goes back to the way it was meant to be, it will remain the least popular part if destiny amungst the majority.
-
1 ReplyIf CD Projekt ran Destiny that blind ogre would show up in the Trials and pound on the cheaters, I'd prefer if Bungie just adds it in for everybody's punishment in general.
-
3 RepliesTo be fair they did say it's for the elite players when it came out
