So... When is that Handcannon fix coming?

Yeah, you guys need to fix handcannons already. Coming from a player who has used handcannons almost religiously since the very beginning, and has used Hawkmoon even more religiously since it came out, I feel like whenever I use a handcannon I am putting myself at a disadvantage just because I want to use a weapon type I enjoy. Sure, I could just use that god roll palindrome you gave us (We all know you gave us that to try and take our minds off of how broken HCs are), but then what is the point of having exotic HCs? What is the point in using Hawkmoon when every single decent rolled legendary handcannon is better? Why should I be missing shots when my sight is directly on them and I am within range? Please, for the love of god, fix handcannons. You dont need to make them year 1 status, just get rid of bloom and maybe buff range a bit. I just want to be able to equip my hawkmoon and think "Im going to have an enjoyable time" again. #BringBackHandcannons #MakeHawkmoonGreatAgain #IThinkThornIsGoodHowItIsRightNowAndDoesntReallyNeedABuffButIStillThinkBloomNeedsToBeCompletelyRemoved [spoiler]Sidenote, I still use handcannons. I still use Hawkmoon religiously. I cant help it, I love that gun too much. But I still experience phantom bullets every day, and it brings a tear to my eye. I am losing gunfights I should not be because bungie refuses to fix a broken mechanic.[/spoiler] Edit1: To clarify, when I mentioned a range buff that wasnt something I necessarily required, I just feel like some HCs might need a bit of a range boost, specifically the lower impact high rof archetype to make them more viable. And it seems some people don't agree with how I feel about the thorn. I have only used thorn a few times since i got it in roi, but I havent really had any problems with it. My only real problem is that the poison damage is so low it is basically useless, which makes it "just another low impact HC", and I think that might be where some peoples problems come from. Right now, low rof handcannons are the least competetive archetype of HCs because they generally dont have much base range, and the thorn just happens to fall into that category, and I feel like maybe that is what is screwing the thorn over? Maybe if that whole archetype was better the thorn would be in a good spot? How about I make the hashtag "#IThinkTheThornIsGood"? Edit2: I wish I could go through the whole post and respon to all of the comments, but there are so many I dont think I could do that. I see a lot of support, and quite a bit of hate as well. One of the main points of disagreement: "Why not just use a palindrome or an eyasluna? With a [u]good roll[/u] they can still destroy" So, you see the underlined part? Yeah, there's the problem. Scout rifles and pulse rifles perform well with almost any roll, unless its one that lowers stability by a ton, so why should I have to have a range increasing perk on a HC for it to be usable in pvp? Anyway, thank you to anyone who is in support of my cause, and thank you as well to anyone who disagrees because I still learn from your comments (not all of them though, lol). Edit3: What's this? Now we just wait for bungie to make another forum post saying "Yean guys, we know handcannons need some work, but we don't really care. Sorry, we won't be fixing them." Im kidding, im kidding. I feel like I should say though that while it may seem I have personal bias against bungie (mayne I do?), that's not what this post is about. I don't want it to come across as me flat out hating on them and using this as another excuse to hate on them, this is an issue I genuinely feel needs to be addressed. I might be a little upset about bungie teasing us with that moonglow ornament though. xD

  • There's literally no reason to say that hand cannons back in war one were better when really the only handcannons used at that time was the last word, thorn, and hawk moon. Those were better because they were exotic and broken. They're not as good good now, but that doesn't mean that all handcannons now aren't good. All the legendaries have felt the exact same in year one than in taken king and rise of iron. Quit whiling about ghost bullets because clearly you guys just suck at aiming

    • Any advice for Hawkmoon's tough recoil? I'm practicing using it in the Crucible, I' in love with it because I just grabbed Moonglow last friday.

        Just get rid of bloom and give them such a sharp damage drop off that they can't be used outside of medium range whatsoever. Doing some damage, even if it's a lot less, is better than no damage randomly.

      • Every gun has phantom bullets. It's not just hand cannons, it's a universal problem with every gun that's hit scanned. It sucks always knowing that there's a large amount of RNG placed within shooting a gun in an FPS. It makes little to no sense to make RNG the primary factor in whether you're going to hit a shot or not. In my mind, since Year 1, I always imagined Range meaning how much damage drop off there is and at what ranges, not how many bullets hit randomly...

        • The thing that frustrates me most is people saying handcannons are fine right now. They're not. If a weapon needs at least one range perk to even compete with all other weapon types the class is broken. I understand the range needed to be dimmed down a bit to better match the intended weapon class, but now the base range is nerfed, accuracy is nerfed we have bloom, I mean you understand i'm supposed to hit stuff when I aim at it right? Everyone is trying to get rifled barrel and rangefinder on their handcannons just to be able to shoot people in the crucible. Lets take a moment to realise that fact. Two range perks in order to shoot people at medium range.. ''Get good scrub'' Well I would like to but if my gun doenst shoot where I aim I might aswell play counterstrike

          • A Derringer has better accuracy and range than these 800 year advanced handcannons. Sidearms are more accurate and more reliable. When you have a choice of 'rifled barrels' in weapons, you are shopping at a wannabe gunsmith! Rifling was invented about 1000 years before this war! We have laser weapons (Sleeper Simulant), space travel, and revive Ghosts, but our guns have optional rifling in their barrels! Go figure...

          • I haven't had much issue with them since April Update... Helps to have stability AND range. I feel like when I miss it's because the shot wasn't exactly on-target or I may have been spamming the trigger.

          • Hand Cannons literally need zero work. Any buffs would make them overpowered and lead to a nerf that makes them useless again. Think before you rant.

                • Some hand canons shouldnt have bloom because they TTK is so long,: the revelator, all the faction HC's. But some need to have it. For example the "lingering song" is a beast. 2 bullet kills without special perks ( on my warlock) Without the bloom it would be just OP. I never used to use HC but this gun is to nimble in most situations. 86dmg hs for the optimum range.

                • HC's are a joke at the moment. Just remember the range stat data on Last Word that alone shows the system is broken. When you can be hip fired from 50m away
