To those who dont understand the MoT t-shirt deal

It's a neat offer to celebrate Destiny's 2nd year and Bungie's 25th anniversary for giving to charity and for playing their games content. Your Moments of Triumph rewards are the 2 shaders and 2 emblems from the book, the shirt offer is optional. I'm not sure if you guys understand what The Bungie Foundation does, but let me help enlighten you. *prepares overused typical Destiny poster spoiler*
-They donated over 1,000,000$ that was raised through sales of the 'Pride of Nepal' shirt/shader sale to the Direct Relief fund. -They granted over 30 Make a Wish wishes for ill children in 2015 alone, and they've been granting wishes since 2001. Ranging from room remodeling, top of the line spec gaming pc's, studio tours, and even a home DJ studio. -The Bungie Foundation also has programs in partnership with Seattle Children's Hospital in where they provide iPads to the entire inpatient unit and the child specialists, providing iPad's to the Autism Center to help these children play games and connect with others, and upcoming programs oriented towards career and workforce preparation. (They are also partnered with 9 other organizations as well) -All profits from purchases made in the Bungie Store in 2016, will benefit The Bungie Foundation to continue their efforts in helping children who are suffering by providing entertainment.
Now I've read quite a few posts with people saying some really nasty and snarky remarks about how it's a 'marketing ploy' to get your money because Bungie's greedy, blah blah, but I'm not going to point any fingers or call out names. Instead, I hope the few of you who posted those comments read this, and really reflect on yourself and your character. This shirt isn't just a cash grab, its proceeds go to an awesome cause. It's a reward for those who have vested their time in Bungie's game who are willing to give their 30$ to these children who are unfortunate enough to suffer from terminal illnesses and handicaps. The best part is, is any profit from any purchase on the Bungie store on ANY item is going to The Bungie Foundation. But.. too many of you are too quick to jump to conclusions without researching the topic. So before you go rushing around and spreading negativity, put a little thought into it. The world would be a much better place if we gave a little more to each other unconditionally. Consider this more of an incentive for a good cause. I hope some of you buy some Bungie loot, even if its only the 15$ pins. If they had a link open for a flat out donation, I'd still give. I'll wear my Moments of Triumph shirt with pride knowing that my money went to a good cause, I may even buy more of the items I've been eyeballing knowing that the proceeds will be used in this manner. Hope this clears some of these perceptions up. Who else will be acquiring the Triumph shirt or some Bungie merch to benefit The Bungie Foundation's cause? --------------- Edit : Anyone who's wanting to know more about The Bungie Foundation and their work, click here to visit their website. I'm truly ashamed at how ugly, toxic, and uneducated some of this community is, but I'm honored to be among and see some of you real life guardians helping spread the positivity. We can slowly change our community for the better by spreading knowledge and positivity. Thank you all for your replies (even you ugly ducklings showing your bad attitude) and time reading. -------------- Edit 2 : For those having trouble applying your discount code or finding your discount code, all the info you need is in the spoiler below.
Obtaining your code : Visit your profile on Bungie.net or the companion app. You'll see your Moments of Triumph section towards the middle of the page. Click that box. If you have completed all challenges, you'll be forwarded to a page that has your code on it. Applying your code : Add your shirt to the cart after you select your size and customization options, proceed to the checkout and a box will appear under your order for a 'discount code'. Copy, paste, apply and viola!
• Last time I checked that I could buy T-Shirts for less than $24.99. At my Local Walmart I can get 4 T-Shirts for that price. -blam!-ing rip off.

    • The reward is the option to donate to charity. That's pretty funny, actually. I guess they don't want any charity money from scrubs! Just another example of how Bungie can take something easy and botch it.

      • People won't donate unless they are told "buy this t-shirt and we'll donate." Idk why but to me that's pretty pathetic if no one is willing to donate unless they are given something in return.

        • Soooooooo, to everyone shitin' their pants about the "Destiny Pokemon" shirt. Yeah, if you want a shirt that's exclusive and the profits go to charity that's great, let me just throw this recent example of "community manager" or lack of regarding how charitable Bungie is. Recently there was a post with the idea of (Guardian appearance change) with all profits going to the Bungie foundation. The idea was charge $5 or $10 or $20 etc. to buy a thing to go back and change the appearance of a character. Myself and others tried to get Bungie to notice by messaging Deej and Cosmo to get a response, low and behold..... No response! So I boil it down to, the community managers hardly ever do anything productive or acknowledge good ideas, and instead of actually giving us something people have requested forever they pull a half ass ploy like the t-shirt. Bungie knows there are a lot of "Pokemon" attitude players that gotta have it all, so instead of giving a widely asked for thing(character re-customization) they give a "exclusive code" to buy a shirt. All they are doing is luring players into the Bungie store hoping they purchase additional products, and if they don't it doesn't matter because the profits go to charity equaling a tax write off. This whole t-shirt thing is garbage in my opinion after witnessing the example stated above.

          • I don't think most people have an issue with Bungie giving to charity. I think the main issue is people being tricked into thinking they earned a cool loyalty bonus, only to be given the chance to buy a $30 T shirt. It's just dishonest if nothing else.

            • So they want us to donate to them so they can donate and get tax write offs? They are failing horribly in this game and in their leadership. They should give me a free shirt for still being here. 25 years of gaming experience and you are making these decisions. Let's not forget they had record breaking numbers at launch. If money and experience is not issue what is?

Its not a reward if i had to pay for it.
sniff sniff sniff to much salt because I would rather donate the whole bit of money to some charity right on instead of through another company which will only give about 10% of what I actually donate.

edit number 2, your salt has my nipples hard, I will donate to any charity knowing the total amount that I donate is given. which means I would rather send the hospital a check for $25.00 instead of bungie and forget about the cash grab shirt.my view on donating.
• I don't mind the donations, but Bungie day is supposed to celebrate the players, right? So our big reward is to get to donate money to a charity? They could've done all of this differently and people wouldn't be acting as negative about it.

                      • For a company as big as they are, they should donate more. They do very little if you compare them to other companies. Destiny had over a billion in sales. And they only donated about 1 mil to Nepal. And most of that was from T-Shirt sales. They also do Make a Wish which is nice, but they only did a few of those. All in all. They did some good. But its obvious most of it was sponsored by Bungie store. They never really gave anything away. You never see companies just give money away anymore. They have to cleverly disguise it with E-Commerce store or some type of event to generate Sales, then they use those for donations. WHy don't they simply just give away portion of their profits? Call me a troll and a bad person, but I am just stating my opinion.

Why not donate 30 dollars directly to the charity? By the time everyone else gets paid for the t-shirt (manufacturer, designer, distributor, administrative plus the bungie foundation overhead), very little is left for the actual charity. I would guess around 10% so maybe 3 dollars on a good day. By donating directly to the cause 100% goes directly to the charity (the ENTIRE $30).
