Due to the SBMM factor I barely ever win a match playing solo(in IB or regular crucible) it just does not happen. Playing against tough opponents and having teammates that I can not carry hard enough. But when I form a fireteam I always make the lowest player the leader and we win 80% of our matches. It could be more about the fact that you can coordinate with a fireteam and can't when you are solo. However I can not enjoy pvp while playing solo anymore and think that the SBMM needs to be tweaked a little when solo players are playing. Or taken out entirely. This game has become more of a chore and less fun since SBMM. I'm sure there are players out there enjoying themselves still but I can't be the only person who feels like the crucible is not an enjoyable experience any longer when playing solo. What are your guys thoughts and experiences since SBMM was implemented? And if anyone knows how it works exactly please let me know.
Update: Trolls are annoying. Would anyone like to actually answer my question about your experiences with skill based matchmaking?

Edited by Calculus-Entropy: 5/27/2016 9:10:06 PMGood post. Most people are quick to say it's because you're on a fireteam communicating, but you're right in saying that's not entirely it. I often play solo and things get so strange against a fireteam. It's pretty much like you can never compete against the lag it creates. There are so many similar scenarios each night. - Top player on opposing team is basically untouchable and is in a fireteam with the lowest player who is redbar the whole match. - Redbar top player is glitching and sky-dropping around the map. Takes no damage. - Full fireteam of 3's or 6's with poor hit registration when you shoot at them, but they seem to 1 shot you with scouts or hand cannons. It does make the game feel more like a chore and always leaves you with more questions... Did I just earn that 10.0kd match because I happened to have the good connection? Did I get rekt because I sucked and they were great, or was their connection better? Is running in a fireteam with my friend even fair against a team of solo players that we're dominating? I guess it's up to Bungie how they want to have people play their game, but I'm losing interest playing against connections and not people. There's no fun in playing a match where you know you are fighting latency and there's nothing you can do at your end but hope the next match is in your favor. Seems pretty lame to me and definitely not competitive.

3 RepliesI can only assume the issue is that you have a higher KD than me, but I find that I alternate between best player on a winning team and then the worst on a losing team. Sometimes in back to back matches. I have no idea if SBMM is at fault or if I'm just that inconsistent at playing the game.

6 Replieslots of discussion on the sbmm.. let me ask everyone.. do you like having your ass handed to you? is it fun to always stomp on other teams? by having sbmm it tries to match your team to your skill level and hopefully provide competative matches.. can someone even tell me what a casual game is supposed to be about. People want casual games.. are you out for a walk in the -blam!-ing park or are you loaded out with gear and weapons to kill your opponent? competative matches are what we all want.. with no lag. no red bars just my team against your team.

2 RepliesAs a mainly solo player, only doing pvp for iron banner (I want the helm) and a few dailies, it seams like my team never knows what they're doing and the other team is MLG'n it up... idk just what I noticed though

CBMM was great

10 RepliesEdited by Kilo: 5/27/2016 5:58:10 PMFirst of all making the lowest player the fire team leader won't change anything, but more importantly there is no way to tell who is the lowest. You could probably get a good idea if one of you sucks at pvp but if you're all equally skilled then you have no way of knowing. I've had some of the closest, most exciting games ever this IB. I really like SBMM, it makes the game much more enjoyable. SBMM is just the latest in what people like to complain about for losing in PvP. A year ago it was lagswitching. It will eventually change to something else. If you were to take out SBMM it will result in you probably getting destroyed by higher skilled players or you destroying lesser skilled players. I don't know about you but neither of those are any fun to me. Contrary to popular belief, getting rid of SBMM won't magically get rid of all the lag. The only thing that would actually have a positive impact in the reduction of lag would be to not allow fire teams and just have everyone go in solo. But no one wants that.

4 RepliesI agree with every part of this

I do great playing solo, with a team not so much. Lower your k/d if your getting sweaties. Don't be a pussy whining you have to play at your skill level. I don't complain when I get to play at mine. If I finally ever break 1.0 I will be happy to play at that level. I am putting in a lot of work to get there.

1 ReplyPlease learn the difference between 'figuratively' and 'literally'

3 RepliesWhy do people misuse the word literally?
-
4 RepliesSBMM only bothered me in 2v2/3v3. Having a 2kd makes every match of those sweaty. I can still enjoy 6v6 though, didnt notice anything about SBMM in those modes. There will always be people that are just going for kills and no objectives. I myself always play objective, eventhough my kd is still higher then average. This iron banner i play with a first curse or a queenbreakers bow. I enjoy the **** out of it :-)

1 ReplyEdited by NYDIBS: 5/27/2016 5:58:51 PMSBMM doesnt bother me. I think Im better than my stats suggest (my 7 yr old played a lot of crucible in year 1) so maybe that helps but its the lag that makes me not want to play anymore

4 RepliesHave you tried capturing more than one point in control a game?
-
4 RepliesLiterally why? Because it makes the elitists realize that they are any so much of an elite after all. A humbling experience for them. Also makes lower skill players compete better since they don't get stomped.
-
10 RepliesI almost exclusively play solo. I have since day one. I still win games.

23 RepliesFor me its the connection issue it creates. I couldn't care less who I play against, as long as the connection is solid. I'm tired of people going from 1 spot to another with no in-between animation. It makes it frustating and unplayable. When they went all connection based it was amazing. If a gun was a 3 shot crit, it was. Very little of having to shoot someone 7x in the head or unloading a mag into them and barely dropping the shield. Or the glitchy movements. SBMM is not needed. You aren't going to run into people that often that are going to kick your teeth in to the point that it creates the problem that bad connection does. If you connct well and dmg and movement happens properly, you can mix it up with anyone or at the very least improve by playing those that are better. Poor connection from SBMM on top of no dedicated servers and no filters, makes it to where it's almost impossible to even have a learning experience from the match.

1 ReplyLol. Makes the lowest player the leader as if that changes anything.
-
Toaster's response is the closest thing I got to an answer. Stop being trolls. I'm not arguing stats. I'm not saying SBMM is bad. I'm not an elitist. If any of you read it all the way to the end you would know I just explained my experiences in the crucible and was wondering what other people's experience in the crucible was? That's it. You all are dumb

1 ReplyYou serious ? I have higher stats than you and Elo and I only played solo in IB this week . Rank 5 on my Titan . Rank 4 on my hunter and rank 3 on my warlock . Haha it's easy

9 RepliesI find it very hard to believe you haven't won a single game since sbmm. Let's just make up random facts about it for fun!
