I've always been a very open-minded person and I feel it's no one's place to tell another what to do with their own bodies. And even though I don't personally have anything beyond a simple tattoo, I've always been really interested in the body mod subculture. I find women with mods a little more attractive. So it's fair to say that I'm a bit biased on this topic.
But at what point does it just go.. too far? Is there a "too far"? Today we have more and more extreme modding happening. Intentional genital mutilation/removal.. full facial tattoos.. all sorts of implants and bone grafting.. you name it.
So is there a point where you have to tell someone "look dude.." for their own "well being"? Or should we always be openly accepting of these choices?

1) That snake tongue shit. Stop. It's creepy. 2) Tattoos on the face and dick. Mostly the dick part.

4 RepliesEdited by Cultmeister: 5/19/2016 8:44:22 AMThat thing where they split the front of the tongue in half to make it look like a snake's. Also that weird doughnut forehead head thing that was the craze in Japan the other year.

3 RepliesIf my dick can fit in your gage then it's too far. But honestly face tattoos are a bit much and the whole tattooing the eye ball. But you do you. It's your body after all.

I don't care what people do their bodies but that lady looks like an actual goblin.

I certainly think that a certain point is too far. I am personally never going to get a tattoo, and I hope that those that already have tattoos will be comfortable with what they see in the mirror when they're 60. But that photo? That is unsettling. Red eyes, black face, I say that once you start disfiguring yourself to look like anything but a human... By the very nature of the word, you are losing your sense of humanity, who you are. That is when you become so involved in materialistic things, in what you look like, all in the name of "expression of thought." Really, in this form of trying to show people who you are, you are only forgetting who you are. Just my two cents.

I was taught how a demon looks like. That picture resembles how a demon looks like. And they do this in purpose.

My opinion is a bit contradictory. I don't mind body modifications, I actually find some of them to be quite interesting. However, I still think they're a bit freaky and it's never anything I would do to myself. (Unless I either absolutely needed it or Deus Ex suddenly became a reality.) I'm a little conflicted with how people with body modifications can be denied jobs though. On the one hand, businesses want to project their company's image in a positive and professional way and that means appealing to the majority's sense of what's professional and positive. On the other, people should totally be able to express themselves freely and not have to worry about being unable to support themselves with a job. To answer your actual question though, we should totally make people aware that what they're doing might be detrimental to their health or well being. Should we stop that behavior though? No. Once they are fully educated on the possible consequences of their actions, they should be allowed to make their own decisions.

First thing I noticed when I tapped that photo was the guys ears. O-o
But you do whatever you want. There's a point where it seems like waaaaay too much to me, but if it isn't to you, go right ahead and do it.
5 RepliesI don't mind, people can do what they want, just don't do it to me. Haha.

By all means, you do you, but you're going to have to accept whatever people's reactions are. Transhumanism, on the other hand, now that's where it's at.

That's -blam!-ed up
-
My roommate owns a tattoo shop and I still call face tattoos "job stoppers". Do what you want, but don't be surprised or butthurt when people think you're ugly as -blam!-.

IMO deviation from the natural body, barring medical treatment, is unacceptable. A few tattoos in non-sensitive areas and/or ear piercings are fine too.
