Technicallly both simply require 2 joysticks and 2 triggers

1 ReplyOkay first of all, destiny is a really casual friendly game, nothing really takes too much skill. Shotguns dont take any gun skill to use at all. Thats the whole design purpose of a shotgun. Its not a precision tool like a sniper. Shotguns take movement skill. Closing the gap, predicting where and when people will be. Its unfortunate that gum skill is usually favored and seen as "skillful". When you get shotgunned you only see a guy who turned in at the corned than slide shotgunned you. Thats not really cool looking is it? But thats the least important part of shotgunning. Personally, I cant shotgun for my life I'm really terrible with those so i'll just stick to sniping. All i'm saying is dont look down on people using shotguns. It takes a different kind of skill

3 RepliesThey both take some amount of skill sniping takes aim and patience shot guns require movement skill both are challenging in short nerf fusion rifles
-
1 ReplyI agree ten-fold. Difference is you can't convince me otherwise. Whether your on the move and quickscope people or sit in a corner and hard scope, I don't see skill. I see bullshit. Shotguns? You know how hard it is to hit a flying warlock who Melees every second? Pretty hard considering the shield, range and speed of the thing

Lol miss ur felwinters?

1 ReplyEdited by Tyrannous: 5/14/2016 9:14:03 PMShotguns and snipers take less skill than sidearms and fusions.

5 RepliesDefensive sniping/shotgunning: not much to it Offensive sniping/shotgunning: skillz You either one or the other. I'm mainly defensive
-
If saying this makes you feel better.
-
In crucible they take no skill but outside of crucible, they're less forgiving with a ton of enemies.
-
Prove yourself right.

1 ReplyI respect your opinion. If you think they take less skill then there isn't anything anyone can do about that... apart from everyone to stop falling for this click bait post. Have a good day sir

18 RepliesEdited by WulfPak666: 5/14/2016 3:22:44 PMThere is some skill to sniping, but all that seems to be useless when your sniper scope literally sticks to someones head when you aim over them, which is way "drag scoping" is so easy in this game. If you want to argue true skill with a sniper, use snipers that have next to no aim assist. Speaking of which, why the hell is aim assist even in games? Does the game feel you cant have fun unless the game itself helps you hit stuff? Shotguns are not much better. Everyone rolls for range because the 1hk distance is stupid crazy. A skilled shotgunner would be able to do everything using a shotgun with ass stats. If you are "skilled" you should be able to carry yourself with any type of gun you are "skilled" with. You are not a skilled sniper if you can only do good with 1,000yrd, Longbow, LDR You are not a skilled shotgunner if you can only do good with Conspiracy, Party Crasher type shotguns. Show me a sniper who kicks everyone's ass with the the "worst" sniper in the game (terrible aim assist, horrible recoil) then i will consider them skilled. It means that they can adapt to whatever weapon they use and still prove that they are very good at getting the kills. Not just relying on the games "sticky scope syndrome" to help them.

I remember when this wasn't a true statement. It still isn't.

Sniping has Ruined destiny .
-
5 RepliesHahahahaha. This is the most retarded thing I've ever seen. At least you have to aim with snipers.
-
Truth.

3 RepliesEdited by CatlikeCarpet1: 5/14/2016 7:00:40 PMIf sniping takes less skill then shotgunning and you have a kd of about 2 and mostly use a shotgun, then you should be an absolute beast at sniping but your precision kill % is 53.62
-
2 RepliesNo. They both take different kinds of skill.
prove me wrong
- a shotty user

1 ReplyYou don't have to have your target in the middle of your sights with a shotgun and still do damage. If you aren't on target with a sniper you do no damage. Shotguns are more appropriate for the way maps are made in destiny excluding a few like shores of time. With the scope changes its even harder to use snipers at mid range now. You can use a shotgun effectively without aiming down sights. If you don't aim with a sniper it literally becomes all luck. Snipers do now, and always will take more skill to use effectively than a shotgun.

One shot body shots

2 RepliesShotguns take less skill than snipers. Prove me wrong.
-
6 RepliesSniping takes precision, map awareness, quick reaction time, and much much more. Shot gunning takes crouching. Oh and aiming and shooting.
-
5 RepliesSidearms take more skill than both
Prove me wrong
Using sidearms for across map kills takes the most skill
