I think this game would be 100X better if it were rated M. I know this will not happen because of financial reasons, but hear me out
1) ads would look twice as menacing/ terrifying
2) potentially give PvE a Gears of War feel when killing ads ... meaning more gore (if desired)
3) M rating means more potential meat to the story
4) Less whiney crucibabies constantly crying for nerfs
5) :LESS WHINEY CRUCIBABIES CRYING FOR UNECCESARY NERFS (seriously I'm getting tired of it)
6) characters would be 1000X funnier with adult dialogue
7) give bosses a kill function if you approach with low health (similar to dead space)
8) assassination function in crucible (similar to halo assassinations)
I could go into a lot of detail but I really think this game would have some serious improvements if it were rated M and a lot less kids who, in my opinion, have ruined this game with constant complaints about subclasses and weapons

Edited by CJ: 4/22/2016 12:45:01 AMHaving a certain rating for a game makes no difference in the story that is developed by the makers. Bungie was destined (get my pun there?) to make the story what it is whether it was rated E or M. Halo 5 is rated T, just like Destiny. 11-year-olds play just as much, if not more Call of Duty than Destiny, which is renowned for being an ultra-realistic and ultra-violent franchise. The people who really make a game worse aren't in a certain age bracket. There are so many 10-14-year-olds who love Destiny for what it is, and there are 40-year-olds who are making the complaint posts on these forums all the time. It's not restricted to a certain age, and I feel bad for you if you really think that way. I'm 16, by the way. Played Metal Gear Solid 3 when I was 8. I also played GTA San Andreas, and (wait for it)... Sonic Unleashed, oh yeah!
-
I agreed. While it wouldn't stop children, it would certainly lower the amount of children
-
To many pvp boo hoo babies calling nerf on all thats good in destiny. Its killing pve weapon strength and making the best guns in destiny turn into spud guns that cant strip wallpaper let alone a captain or wizards shield.

Finding Nemo has a more mature story than Destiny and it's a kids movie.
-
Won't stop kids. Parents but them MA and R rated games all the time.
-
Not buying if ps4 exclusive Best be rated m for MATURE!!!!!!!!!!!! Kids should be having toys not sitting on their bums, everyday deteriorating leg muscle mass until you can no longer walk properly. Leave the muscle deterioration to older people.
beleive me when I say leg muscle mass deteriorating, happened to me and I used to be able to walk and run very well now my legs get sore from walking around the university. This is due to spending my holiday sitting on the chair playing video games.
2 RepliesI will bump this every day it needs to be M to do this story true justice, a rated M game could have such a deeper story.
-
Because COD, an 18, has a lot less children then destiny.
-
You're a fool if you think a higher rating will reduce the amount of young players.
-
You realize it won't actually significantly change the age of the players... Right?
-
I feel like a lot of these changes would go against the fundamentals of what makes Destiny... Well, Destiny. It's a very colorful game with intriguing enemies, and I'd hate to see those enemies reduced to a rabble of monsters that are horrifying for the sake of being horrifying. Same with the gore - it's really unnecessary. One thing I would like is more meat to the story, but that can be solved without an M rating. We don't need added violence and explicit content, we need for them to put interesting plot points that already exist in the Grimoire in the game proper. As for getting rid of squeakers... The truly awful ones are probably the ones whose parents actually do not care enough to look at the ratings anyway.

I want to make a dreg go splat.
-
nothing will change
-
I think it would be an improvement, but it wont solve the problem. A bigger solution in terms of quality would be current gen exclusive. I want 60FPS with 1080p damn it.

1 ReplyOne word that voids the topic. MOM
-
1 ReplyDo we really think giving it M will change the amount of squeekers online Think about it cod was made R and yet there are still squeekers. There really is no way to get rid of them
-
Sucks a work fox cap topic hybrids horrid fields they'd Zion Hz s soporific
-
Kids will still play it
-
Normally I'd say no, a rating does not make a game better, but Destiny really does feel like it's trying to both kid-friendly and appeal to adults at the same time. The veneer runs thin after a while and while the grimiore is great, little of it is reflected in the actual game. More mature content and themes would help that IMO.
-
Be better if it was R with gore and blood added.
-
M rating won't stop whining kids. GTA is rated M and all I find are a bunch of ten year olds. It won't make kids go away, heck kids would still buy it.
-
Who wouldnt want to see a Nova Bomb go i to a bunch of Dreggs and see all green blood just shoot everywhere.

5 RepliesEdited by Happyjoey547014: 4/9/2016 3:43:45 PMIt would be better but not because of the age group, as that would not change in the slightest. It would just be better because a more gruesome setting is almost always better for this kind of game. You might stop a thousand little kids from playing, if there's even that many who's parents actually pay attention to the ESRB.
-
-blam!- yea bud I want all the gore haha
-
Look at cod, m rating doesn't do anything. There are enough parents that don't care and just buy the game without thinking.
